Great buy for the money
I was really pleasantly surprised by this item. We have a lot of knives, and I recently bought a 10 inch Bob Kramer by Zwilling so I needed a larger knife block that would also house the knives we had stored away in the drawer. This is made in a quality fashion and looks good on the counter, and is not ridiculously oversized like many of the larger blocks I was looking at, as we live in an apartment and have limited counter space. The slots in the "main" part of the block are on the larger side, so we were able to fit two 5" utility knives in a single slot. The 10" chef's fit fine, as did our two other 8" chef's knives. My only real criticism is the lack of a spot for a hone. Other than that, this was a great buy. 2 YEAR UPDATE: This has held up rather well. No splintering or panel separation. Knives remain sharp and protected. One note, there has been some finish stripped from the base and discoloration from kitchen cleaners (Windex). Not unexpected, but it's made it a little less attractive.

Mostly Awesome
There seems to be some sort of coating applied to the outside of the knife block. I am also allergic to Murphy's Oil Soap. Not a big deal for me and no one's fault - just be cautious if you have that kind of allergy. I am going to try to wash it off. I do love that I finally found an expensive way to store my knives. I have several different brands of knives, and that top slot fits the Faberware Cleaver. The knife handles are too close together in that there is not enough horizontal space on some of the thicker handles. Not a big deal, I just have to be careful removing a knife. It is just nice to have a bunch of slots that are wide enough to store my knives. Another thing is that if you have a very long knife like a 12” Granton slicer, it will stick out. For me, it was not one of the knives I intended to keep in there - again, not a big deal. I would be interested in one with the changes I mentioned with a few more knife slots. It is an eclectic combination of knives and that makes it easy to find. White handles, black handles and different shapes make it easy to find what I am looking for. A matched set looks nice on the outside, but having to pull out several knives to find the one I want is tedious. Bamboo is sustainable which is nice and helps with the price. Overall, it is a nice way to organize my knives. One more thing - I would like to see a washable cover to cover everything when all of my knives are installed. A clear plexi-glass box would be nice. I am considering finding an appropriate size aquarium that I could invert to cover the knives - sounds like a fishy idea.

A solid 9 for those need to store wide knives
We have a lot of knives and several knife blocks. This is my favorite knife block. It is sturdy and heavy enough not to slide around. The best part of this knife block for me is that there are a lot of 2+ inch wide slots. Many of our knives are wider than the typical slots in knife blocks. As far as wide slots go, this block has one has eight 2 inch slots and one 3 inch slot. The 3" slot is not wide enough for a cleaver, but my curved 10" chef's knife fits well. I The eight small slots are for steak knives. I don't store kitchen knives with serving knives and would have preferred a wide slot for a cleaver. This block nominally stores 20 knives, but for me the key number is 9 wide knives. That is the best scoring knife block I have. Would have been a 10 if it had an additional cleaver slot.

Hunting camps, college housing, and bachelor pads...if your knives are mismatched, regardless of size, THIS IS YOUR BLOCK!!
Knife block is extremely sturdy and just as advertised. Bought this for my hunting camp, but it would look just as good at my house. Not cheap looking at all. The slots are great and just as described so far as measurements go. This was one of the few knife blocks that gave measurements. As it is a hunting camp, my knives are a hodge-podge mix and I have a few longer 10" and 9" knives and this block swallowed them up with zero issues. If your knives are slightly longer than the advertised depths in the picture, no worries because the bottom of the slot is open and that gives another 1/4 inch or so. I have a 10" chef knife not pictured that goes in that top spot. The only negative thing is that the knife handles are pretty close together if they are wide...not an issue enough to take a star away, though

Best quality for the money
Enough room for all my knives, including the cleaver and the French chef's knife. Well-built. Heavy enough to avoid tipping over when filled with knives; my previous knife block did tip. The only flaw for me is that there is only one hole for a steel/sharpener; I have both. (None of the knife blocks I found anywhere would hold both a steel and a ceramic sharpener.) If this is in your price range, it's the best for the money.

Enough slots for all your litchen knives ina beautiful bamboo block.
First, it's bamboo. A naturally occurring product of mother nature. It has a beautiful natural wood finish, smooth to the touch. Enough slots, and large enough for just about any knife in your kitchen. I think the only one that won't fit is a meat cleaver. There is even a spot for my kitchen shears. Talk abut planning. The smaller slots are perfect for paring knives (yes, I still have the one my mother used), and there is plenty of room for the steak knives. Everything in one place. No more sharps in the drawer or hanging on the wall. Instead they are all together in this beautiful bamboo piece on my counter. I'm just sorry I didn't find it sooner.

Perfect size with TONs of knife slots
We have a few large knives and all our previous knife storage solutions were lacking. The original wood block we had was too small to store more than 2 large knives so we got rid of it. Then we tried one of those blocks with the black plastic sticks in it which sounds great since you can just stick your knives in it anywhere - that worked well for about 3 months and then the sticks bent as many other reviewers have said and we could no longer store more than 6-7 knives in it. Finally I ordered this one since it looked like it at least one giant slot for a cleaver and a bunch of other wide slots for chef's knives. I was worried that it would take up a lot of counter space but surprisingly it is not much wider than the other blocks I had - it's just taller. The slot at the top right is definitely big enough for a cleaver and the 3 below it are all big enough for 10" chef's knives. Here's what I currently have in the block. Left side: sharpening steel, 10" Victorinox bread knife, 8" utility knife, long pastry knife and kitchen shears (in the big slot at bottom middle). Right side: cleaver, Global 8" chef's knife, Victorinox 10" chef's knife and two smaller cheap santoku knives. Bottom: 4 Messermeister Avanta steak knives, two cheap Kiwi brand paring knives and another random paring knife.

Space efficient, cost effective, and LARGE slots.
I have long searched for a knife block that had a slots for cleavers, chef knives, shears, and steak knives all on the same block AND wasn't the size of a small car. This one met all of my requirements/ The block has nice, large slots and is a space efficient design. The construction is relatively solid construction of core and veneer. It's a knife block, not a highly stressed bit of bespoke furniture expected to last for your grandchildren to inherit. This block holds all of the daily use knives as well as the specialists like Henckels cleaver that don't get used on a daily basis but are a pain to store. I found the price to be fair, quality adequate to the task, and overall a good value that met my needs.

The biggest & the best!
This is a fantastic purchase! Don't hesitate to buy this - it is perfect & exactly as advertised! You need all those deep cut slots because after you buy it & place your existing knives in it, you will then need to buy more 1st rate knives to fill the empty space. Don't skimp- get great knives, you'll have them for decades! This is so thoughtfully designed - it's the best of all the choices. Buy it!

Simple design with quality construction
I have several mismatched knives and used to use a magnetic strip in my old house. My new home had no room for a strip, so I had to find a knife block. I searched several options and decided on this one. It has a pine core, which was fine for my use, and decently thick bamboo with chamfered edges. There's another reviewer that attached an image of their black Shun modifications, which is what sold it for me. I already have some gray cabinet paint for fixing up the old house, so it'll be easy to throw some on this block and make it look more professional. I think I'll leave mine without a logo for a clean look. It's not a professional block, but for the price you won't be disappointed. As for knives fitting, I was impressed my Calphalon contemporary bread knife and steel both fit without poking out the bottom. In fact, all of my longer knives fit depth-wise. Only issue was with some of the fatter handles touching if all inserted facing the same direction. I can skip holes, or insert them alternating directions so the handles don't touch. Not an issue with the product since it wasn't made for large handles and they all still fit, but makes it a little harder for me to organize my knives how I'd like without being crowded. Maybe the supplier could come up with a "fat knife handle" version with spacing increased by maybe 1cm.
