Always use the brand name to replace items like this. You know they will fit properly and are made for the specific appliance. Hate opening these plastic packages, but they provide the best protections. Note: If you have trouble removing the old filter or inserting the new one, make sure you have the top lined up properly. It's an odd shape and I miss it every time!

Fit perfectly and now my water tastes great

Replacement for kenmore 46-9924 filter

So far so good, I used this filter as a replacement for the kenmore 46-9924 filter, which was impossible to find. It's quiet and not cloudy, acts like the original. Will post if anything changes. Update 2016-06-09: This filter has worked perfectly so far, no different than our OEM filter. Great find!

Great Frig. Water Filter

It does make a big difference in how our water tastes, I left the original one that came in the frig. long after it's time to be replaced. I won't make that mistake again. They are pretty expensive, depending on where you buy them. Between $40.00 and $50.00. However I think I only paid around $35.00 on good old Amazon. I'don't care what you want to buy, you need to always check Amazon, for they always seem to have the lowest prices. Yes I do indeed recommend this filter, for a Whirlpool frig.

Stick with the OEM filter. It work best.

Don’t go cheap on water filters. We have purchased knock off filters. And they work, but never as good as the original. This one has lasted longer than noted on package. But we have great city water pumped from the Great Lakes. That might help. I like a deal, but won’t scrimp on the knock off filters anymore. Bubbles are normal when installing new filters. These seem to have more than normal, hopefully because there is more filter media in them with more surface are to trap funk. Just replace the last filter with almost 1.5 years of use due to slight slow down in delivery. My city water has no iron or calcium in it. Just a chlorine taste.

Fits my fridge and cheaper than Sears

Found out that this water filter was cheaper on Amazon than Sears, so I bought it on Amazon. It is the same filter and fits just fine in my fridge. No problems with it.

Take the bad reviews with a grain of salt. It says on the label (in very small print) that you must FLUSH the filter with FOUR GALLONS OF WATER before use. The first gallon I flushed through was AWFUL. The water was gray and had lots of stuff floating in it. After the fourth gallon, it was running clean and clear, and the water tastes great.

Great Filter

This water filter replaced my original factory installed filter on my Whirlpool Gold Series french door stainless steel fridge and there was NO noticeable difference in water taste, noise, or dispensing water pressure. Installation was easy. The quality of the filter didn't feel like a cheap knockoff. I will buy again.

Replaced Pur filter with no problems, dispensing clean, clear water

I was concerned when seeing other low start reviews about the particulates or cloudy water with this new style water filter. Everything turned out fine. The filter is properly advertised from Whirlpool, and after installation was dispensing clear water after about 80-100 fluid ounces. I let final 16 ounces or so sit for 5 minutes in a clear glass with no signs of any particulates. Maybe people are seeing the micro bubbles in the water when the filter is first installed and pushing out the excess air. Recommended as a replacement filter for the Pur-branded ones.

Expensive filter : Fleecing of customers

Works as expected although it lasts only 6 months! That is not the fault of the product but a reflection on the kitchen aid refrigerator, and the manufacturer greed to design a filtration system that is expense to maintain and last for even one year! We have no choice but to purchase this product as there are no cheaper alternatives
