This fitting connects to the water pipe and plastic shower connection to make a strong connection
This is a very good valve to connect to a hand held shower head that has a plastic connection that hooks on the pipe where the water comes out. This makes it that you are using a brass connection to the pipe instead of the cheap plastic connection that comes with it.I have read from some customer reviews on handheld shower heads that the plastic connection some times comes off and strips out because it is made of plastic. This connection ensures this does not happen.Just connect to one end to the plastic fitting that would have screwed in to the water pipe and the other connection to the water pipe itself.I connect this connection to my Yoo.Mee high pressure handheld shower head.

High Quality Shutoff.
Aside from some delivery issues with USPS (getting worse), this is a great shutoff! I have fairly high water pressure, and this shutoff is still nice and easy to operate. It does allow you to go from full flow to zero flow and anything in between. Control knob and body are metal, while the valve component appears to be nylon. One thing I'm always worried about with cutoffs is too much flow restriction when open, this unit does a pretty good job of allowing close to maximum flow....better than any others I've tried. UPDATE**Maybe I got lucky ...twice, but I haven't had the issues others are reporting. After using this for a few months, I still love it. It's so much smoother than the others I've tried, and the 'leak' is really tiny. The minimal effect on water pressure, and no effect on water temp make the tiny tiny leak a mute point.

Very high quality and works as expected!
As far as the valve review, its golden, high quality (I am a retired union plumber so I have a pretty good idea of plumbing quality). If you need an item that KES sells, just get it, KES is reliable. Thank you very much KES! I had purchased a couple of these in the past for my RV's and needed another one. it arrived in good shape and timely, but was missing one rubber washer that fit into the female end of the valve. So.... I wrote to KES, told them my situation and they promised to remedy this problem by ordering the missing rubber gasket from.......are you ready.......are you sure......CHINA! Yea right, from China.....It took two weeks, yes two weeks, but two days ago what shows up in my mailbox but a package delivered by China Mail and the USPS in my mailbox containing not one, but two rubber washers. KES is a pretty good outfit, thank you!

It is works great
Took less than 2 minutes to install on the end of my hand held shower between the end of the hose and the shower head. I did not need tools and it did not leak. Water flow does not appear reduced and I use a Shower head with 10 settings especially the pulsating portion. Does not leak at fittings and can easily regulate the flow with one hand by sliding the lever side to side. Flow goes from full on to full off (without leaks at any location including fittings) but you must use the gaskets at fittings if called for. Strongly recommend that at the END OF YOUR SHOWER, you shut the water off at the wall mounted shower control instead of relying on any device like this to shut off the flow as it is never a good idea to leave a any hand held shower hose charged as the water line pressure can be up to 60 PSI). As the valve with hold the 60 psi water pressure but the hose may not if left charged all the time. By the way this device is a little shorter than the one bought at the big box store and fits very well in the normal size hand held shower wall holder and slides in and out very easily. This is a great buy and well designed.

Skeptical at first - Removed orifices from shower heads and works great
Our old plastic shower selector broke so I decided to try and put together a more robust system. I kept the regular head and hose from the old shower. I installed the MINGOR SOLID BRASS Square Shape 3-Way Diverter All 1/2" IPS Shower System Replacement Part, Polished Chrome then added KES BRASS Shower Flow Control Valve Water Pressure Reducing Controller Hand Held Sprayer Head Supply Shut Off Stop Switch Universal Replacement Part, SOLID BRASS Handle Polished Chrome, K1140B3 to each line. Since the handheld head was shot, I purchased the Aqua Elegante High Flow Handheld Shower Head - Great Water Pressure In Hand Held Showerhead - Chrome. I used the suction cup version of Shower Head Holder,Gaoyu Bathroom Adjustable Super Powerful Vacuum Suction Cup Waterproof Shower Head Adapter Wall Mounted - NO TOOLS REQUIRED to hold the handheld shower. So far, I'm thrilled with the setup. One note, since I installed the flow control valves, I needed to remove the flow reducing orifices in each shower head to have good pressure.

Once and done
My water bill told me that my usage was above average for a dwelling of our size. California currently requires 2.5 gal/min or less on all showers and sinks. Next few years that standard may be reduced to 1.5 gal/min. This valve can control flow as needed. So instead of installing expensive new fixture with required flow restrictions, this can meet standards as they change. No need to retrofit later. So does it work for the intended purpose? Yes, indeed is the short and definitive answer. It does not come with any instructions but it's pretty much straight forward. The package came with the valves body and a rubber washer. Not sure where the washer is designed to go, so I chose to put it on the output side. Using plenty of white teflon pipe tape and channel pliers, I first mounted the shower head on the valve, as there is little room between the shower head and valve to access once it's on the inlet pipe. Then using generous amount of tape, I screwed it on the inlet or supply side pipe. Stuck a 5 gallon bucket to measure flow in the shower and "tuned" the flow to 2 gal/min. less than the standard but may get me back to average or less than average water user. Works wonderfully, no drips or leaks, fully adjustable. Once I have it tuned, I scored the place where the lever needs to be set. Now I can reduce it further as the need arises and not have to do anymore plumbing.

High-quality, smooth shut-off, but threads are parallel "G" style, NOT tapered "NPT".
This valve is a very high quality piece, especially for the price, but my only gripe is with the threads. Typically, plumbing fittings (in the US anyway) are of the NPT (tapered) type. The thread pitch of this shut-off matches standard 1/2" NPT fittings, however, it is NOT tapered, but is instead a parallel or un-tapered "G" thread meant to be used with o-rings (as can be seen in one of the product photos). I was about to deduct a star for this, but after reading the description it clearly states that it is a "G 1/2" thread, so my mistake. If the pipe that you are connecting this to has a decent wall thickness for an o-ring to seat against the face of, you should have no trouble. But my application was a thin wall shower head neck, which caused the o-ring to get pushed up into the pipe rather than seating against the face. I virtually eliminated my leak by generous application of PTFE tape, but it would have much been better if it were a tapered thread.

This is true SHUT-OFF valve.
This valve WORKS! And the slide mechanics works easier than the others with push buttons. It allows you to control flow anywhere from FULL ON to FULL OFF. WE PAID EXTRA AND GOT THE ONE WITH THE METAL SLIDE instead of the less expensive plastic slide. Before buying THIS REAL SHUTT-OFF valve we tried 3 @ $5 each, from Home Depot, thinking that they continued to dribble because they were defective. We tried one from Lowes @ $10 which also dribbled. So I researched this online. It seems they are now designed to dribble ON PURPOSE, as this is a way for the person showering to remember to turn the actual faucet off. Well, we are in a remote cabin with limited water supply and we don't want to dribble! We want to be responsible for turning things on and off as WE want to! And when I say dribble I mean a LOT of dribble forming an actual small stream from the other valves. This valve is for people who want to shut it off all the way or decide for themselves if they want a little dribble!

Works great, don't over-tighten
I got a new showerhead, and the flow limiter inside the showerhead didn't play well with the water pressure in my house (the shower head was whining and sputtering), so I removed it. The resulting water pressure was very high, which was nice, but a waste of water and no good for kids or dogs. I ordered this which is great for adjusting the flow and I can shut it off for when I'm shampooing my dogs. Some of the negative reviews complain of leaking. For me, I found the key to be a moderate amount of teflon tape (not included) and not overtightening. If you overtighten, you will force the rubber washer into the male end of whatever you're screwing in, which renders it useless. You don't need a wrench, don't need a grip of steel... just hand tighten until it's snug up against the washer. The first time I installed it, I put it between the shower pipe and the hose for my shower head attachment. It worked fine, but the folks who plumbed my house must be giants, because the shower head pipe is awkward to reach for this average-height woman. Then I realized that I could put it between the hose and the actual showerhead, making it much more convenient to access.

Solid
This valve installed easily where I wanted it, and it's rock solid. I opted to pay a few more cents for the brass handle version, and I'm glad I did. The large lever is easy to use, even while soaped up. Water is stopped 100% when the valve is closed. It may indeed reduce water flow, even when wide open, but we already had a water-saving 2.5 gallon per minute shower head so I haven't noticed much difference. Great, recommended.
