In my house I currently have a Wink 2 hub and I have a combination of Nest, Z-Wave switches, My Q Garage Door and the next thing on the list was a to get a Z-Wave deadbolt for the front door. I didn't just want a regular Z-Wave deadbolt, I wanted one with an external keypad so I can program it for our dog sitter, mother-in-law and neighbors when they watch my house and/or dogs. So I looked at all of the Kwikset Z-Wave locks and made up my mind to buy the touchscreen model however upon reading more reviews and playing with it at a local hardware store, I decided that I wanted physical buttons. So I choose this model. The until came in double boxed with all of the pieces and although I read the reviews about long install time, trouble pairing with home automation hubs, I had it installed and was locking and unlocking the door with my phone through the Wink app within 15 minutes. I was VERY pleased. Re-Keying it to my existing Kwikset Tustin locks took me an additional 5 minutes later that evening. Looking to buy another for our backdoor as well as for the door that leads to the garage. So very pleased with the purchase.

I’ve been looking for a Z-wave lock to link to my alarm.com system and this fit the bill. The instructions coupled with the on-line video made it pretty easy to install. Overall it should take about 30 minutes to install but I had to chisel out the door frame slightly for the strike plate and the bolt. However, it paired nicely with the system and is working great. In addition to being able to work the lock from my mobile device my favorite feature is the self locking system. It will give me piece of mind because my kids always leave the door unlocked. Problem solved! I’ll update in a few months after putting it through the paces.

What a great product, easy to install, extremely versatile in terms of the # of codes and temp codes, but most importantly, can lock and unlock the door remotely through alexa, even from my car which is alexa-fied. Absolutely love it. this version is $20 cheaper than the same lock under a different model ( I called Kwikset about it), so it was less expensive too. I give it 5 stars even thought I have 2 comments. 1) it's my only Alexa compatible product that needed a smart hub, which I wasn't too happy about, and 2) at night, the push buttons aren't very bright. but because the rest of the product so exceeds my expectations, I still give it 5 stars.

I bought this to put on the side door that goes from the garage to the side yard. It was very easy to install. No special tools required. FYI - uses a 4 digit code (the one I installed on my front door uses a 6 digit code). Just remember to replace the batteries when the locking mechanism starts to slow down. Do not wait for it to completely fail. I get about 8 months on a set of batteries.

I bought 3 of these total for my house when I moved in. One for my front door, one for the back, and one for the garage. The BEST part has to be the ability to rekey the locks easily. Since I bought 3 of them, that means 3 sets of keys I can re-key myself if anyone moves in with me or I need to give a house sitter a key. This would allow me to rekey the house for just 1 person. For example, right now I have a buddy staying with me between places to live. I have 1 set of keys keyed for him, that when when he leaves I can rekey all the locks in the house once he is gone. Obviously I trust my buddy, but it's good piece of mind to know that only I have my keys. It's also convenient in the case of a house sitter. You could give your house sitter the key, and only key it to their matching key for lets say, 1 single lock, or all 3, just for the time period they are taking care of your house while you are away. Now onto the keypad. You can set up to 6 codes. This also includes 1 time use codes. Lets say you know you have a package coming and want UPS to leave in in your garage. You could set up a code (for example lets say its 1234) for just your driver to use once. This way, after he types in 1234 the code is wiped. Next time the driver comes if he types 1234 it will deny access. This would be great for a maid or something too. It would get annoying putting their code in each time, but if you felt safer making sure they only have limited access its great. I keep 1 temporary code programmed that way if I need my neighbor to check something or someone trusted wants to drop off something they're able to get into the house with the 1 time code. Now remember, you need to change the master code as well as remove the default codes, or its like keeping your door open all day every day. These run on 4 AA batteries. I'd say they last about 3-6 months depending on use (I'd imagine with more than 2 people living in your house, they last 3-4 months due to so many others going in and house). For me and 1 person they should last closer to the 6 month mark definitely.

Works great! I couldn't get it to work (unlock and lock with my code) even after programming it until I opened the cover piece that goes over the batteries and did the "Detect left/right hand door installation" function. This is actually the first step after installation that the instructions don't mention which is weird but whatever. The steps are 1) unlock door, turnpiece should face away from door edge 2) Enter the mastercode 3) press the lock button 4) press 0 then press the lock button again. After that it all started working. It's only been one day so far but it works great

Got this as a replacement for a much older keypad door lock from Kwikset. The replacement process took about 15 minutes (after I reviewed the instructions briefly). Smooth install, operation is flawless. I have had more expensive keypad locks that worked well for me, but this product, is a great value at about half or less of the price for similar items in big home improvement stores. Highly recommend this if you are tired of your kids losing keys, or concerned about having a key hidden somewhere if you are locked out. It also allows you to create different entry codes, including one-time-use codes for product deliver or a service call from a vendor.

I've had this deadbolt for about 3 weeks and so far I LOVE IT! I purchased it for short-term guest rentals at my home so I wound not have to worry about handing off keys. Super easy installation (I already had the correct cut-outs in door and frame) and easy setup -- probably took me about 30 mins total by myself. I was even able to calibrate my current key to the lock. My only critique is that the door has to be securely shut to allow the deadbolt to work, but this may be due to the cutouts I used. I almost purchased the Schlage keypad deadbolt for $20 more and I'm glad I didn't. I would highly recommend this.

Easy to install and program. It took less than 10 minutes to switch out my old deadbolt lock for this one. Luckily I had the right door for the job and everything went together smoothly. It took extra time to make sure the lockbolt slid into the doorframe without rubbing; this step is important if you want to use the automatic lock feature. Make sure you delete the default code (1234) so people can't use it. Pick a good mastercode that you can remember. The unlock code must be 4 to 10 digits that are not repeating. There can be up to 6 codes and a "one time user" code that deletes itself after one use. I like that you can mute the button sounds and turn on or off the automatic lock. It was super easy to re-key the lock using the Smart Lock feature... almost too easy. I'm still trying to figure out exactly what triggers the automatic lock feature. Sometimes it locks automatically, sometimes it doesn't. I'm sure there is some logic to it. The instructions have no information about the automatic lock feature. I'm going to have to test this feature before I depend on the automatic lock.

This keypad deadbolt was bought to match a handle set that I purchased at the same time. The Baldwin Napa handle set is very simple in style, Venetian something, dark, clean lines. I have a place that was built in the late 1970s in California, and I had to stick with a darker finish on the replacement handle set but I did not want to buy anything retro-ornate. It was more complicated to pick out a handle set and a keypad deadbolt than I thought but I am happy with my choice. I wanted something that I could buy a handle set to match, so that when I need a kitty sitter, I don't have to have an extra key cut, but otherwise that I could lock both so that nobody can fool around with the key combinations and strike lucky. Unfortunately I couldn't find an actual Baldwin keypad deadbolt, plus there is a certain cheapness of look and overly-large presence with most of the keypad deadbolts; finding one that was acceptably streamlined and in the same finish became the focus of the style choice for the door hardware. This small, simple unit from Kwikset would look an approximate match in finish because Baldwin and Kwikset are under the same corporate umbrella (according to the person who was showing me options in a store before I resorted to Amazon for the greater selection). I've heard Schlage locks are slightly better security, but for kitty-sitting situations I can live with Kwikset alone for brief periods - and when I am home I can lock the Kwikset as a secondary deadbolt to the Baldwin. I have not yet had it installed because someone is coming later this week to plane the door where it is sticking in the frame, but I did peek through the box and look at the pieces. I am super glad that someone who has done this before will be doing the installation, because I am admittedly not the most patient in this situation. However, my expectations are high that very soon my front door will be fitting correctly, newly fitted with beautiful hardware, and proudly sporting an electronic keypad.
