Inexpensive, good pickup for vioilin.
I bought one of these based on the many reviews. I agree with all the 4 and 5 stars reviews. I gave 5 star because it is very inexpensive, easy to clip on and remove, does not need batteries.. Sound quality is acceptable (4 stars), I do not expect condenser microphone quality. I have tried the stick on piezzo pickup but the sound is terrible. This Cherub produces quite good sound to my ears. It works well on mandolin too, but not so well on guitar. Cherub has one dedicated for guitar, I may buy one of these to keep around in case. I will do a small and permanent modification to ensure the cable does not bother me. For now, I simple tape the cable on the instrument so it does not move while I play.

Hard to imagine how good it would be
It gets gigged, thrown in a bag, taken out, and gigged again. Repeat. This thing just works. Good frequency response for a rock or country band. I have to say it sounds great and cuts through the guitar and bass mix rather well. Will feedback if you throw too much of the wrong frequencies at it on the monitor just like any other hollow bodied instrument. We love it and when it dies will get another.

If I could get this device 10 stars, I would!
I was seeking a good pickup and was ready to shell out some serious cash and came upon this cherub and it had good reviews. Why not? It is very affordable so I purchased. Wow! It works flawlessly and the sound is amazing. I love that theres no batteries. Yes the cord could be longer but you can hook up an extension if you need it. I am very pleased with this pickup.

Used on a Cajon
Very inexpensive pickup. Multi use. I got to use on a Cajon. Both violin and guitar models work fine. I just clip inside the sound hole. Not really sure of sound quality but on a Cajon it delivers one he'll of a punch

Its a nice, non permanently mounted, pickup
I bought this as a gift for a friend who plays dulcimer. Not an easy instrument to find a pickup for. The skinny clamp arm was able to fit through one of the small ornate holes in the front of her dulcimer. It works perfectly.

with the warning that it will break easily. So far so good
I was advised against the Cherub, with the warning that it will break easily. So far so good, and it's been 9 months of bi-weekly use. I find it easy to use. I clip it in the c-side f-hole, and run the cable over the c-side hip of my viola, loop it around my chin rest, and let it run down my front when I play. It will pick up a cough, or a laugh, so be mindful.

Really, really awesome.
This little piece of plastic has served me well for literally hundreds of gigs, recording, and practicing. I know this sounds crazy. I ordered this on a complete whim just to mess around with a potential cheap backup to my Fishman in-bridge pickup for some country gigs. IMMEDIATELY I was blown away by how awesome it sounds and how quick it is to set up. Just pop it on your fiddle and you're good to go. PROS: - Cheap. as. hell. No, really, it's $5. Do you know what that means? You can order 10 of them for half the cost of most fiddle pickups. Cable short out? It's cheaper than breaking ONE string. Get drunk and step on it/spill beer/set a PA head on it and break it? No guilt whatsoever, just change it out! - The sound... the sound is great. I'm still experimenting with this little thing. I run it through a little tube preamp and it has given me great sound for bluegrass, modern country, classic country, old time, folk, rock gigs -- everything. If you like the natural sound of your instrument, this is the way to go. - Totally removable! Takes about 5 seconds to put in and out of the instrument. If you play some gigs without a pickup and some gigs with, but want to use the same instrument without an ever-present input jack, this is the way to go. - Doesn't mute the acoustic sound at all. Picks up a great representation of the natural sound without the bridge-muting that comes with some VERY EXPENSIVE pickups. CONS: - Okay... so the quality is not perfect. I've had ONE cord short out on me in almost a year of hard use. But seriously... for 5 bucks... who cares? - The 1/4 inch cable is very light and very short. Not a lot of stage room. You may need an extension or a preamp if you're not VERY CLOSE to your PA head. - The pickup moves around a little depending on where it's placed on the bridge. This does a great job of preserving the sound, but a) makes it a little more likely to feed back when you're playing a really loud rock gig and b) sometimes leads to noise of the pickup moving if you bump it accidentally. But hey, who can hear it over the guitarists tuning anyway? TLDR: just order it and find out for yourself.

While the sound quality isn't the best, it's very fair for the price
While the sound quality isn't the best, it's very fair for the price. The setup is AWESOME--I'm not comfortable putting most microphones onto my expensive professional violin, but this one is very gentle and well-designed. The chord is easy to tuck out of the way while playing--I just run it under the chin rest--so it doesn't rub against the violin and make extra sounds. The chord has a decent amount of length. It's small enough to fit in a case, and I'm now taking it everywhere!

Pickup for violin
This pickup works very good. It is very easy to attach and I don't have to worry about scratches. I have not had any problems with feed back even though there is a microphone and another amp within 3 feet of me when playing in our small ensemble in church.

Thumbs up
This thing is great. Super cheap and works solidly with a guitar amp. With a small amp, can't get loud enough to be heard well with drums and bass without feeding back. BUT with a large amp, you can be plenty lloud enough (without feedback) but still need to be careful with feedback. As in, never turn on the amp holding your instrument!! I was shocked how well this worked for the price.
