- NO MATTER THE WEATHER: TerraGrips Tire Chains are built to successfully tackle anything Mother Nature throws your way. Extensively tested, these chains have proven capable of handling all terrains including snow, mud, mulch, gravel, grass, asphalt, and more. You can drive off the road with confidence knowing TerraGrips will do anything, anywhere.
- PROTECTS PROPERTY: Unlike traditional steel tire chains, TerraGrips are made from multi-ply rubber slats. The rubber base provides superior grip without leaving permanent scratches or marks on asphalt and won’t destroy wet or frozen lawns.
- NEXT LEVEL TRACTION: With TerraGrips Tire Chains, your machinery will be better equipped to plow, snow blow, mow, and till with ease. Our top of the line traction fights against slippage so won’t leave you stranded on a steep incline or stuck in a wet, muddy area. Rubber slats offer exceptional durability and prevent additional tire wear caused by steel chains.
- EASY INSTALLATION: No tools are required to install on your tires. Rubber slats ensure secure fit. Plated steel components resist rust reducing your maintenance time. TerraGrips are available in numerous sizes to improve the traction of a variety of tires.
- PATRIOTIC AND RESPONSIBLE: Superior Tech’s products are proudly manufactured in the USA. TerraGrips Tire Chains are constructed with environmentally friendly recycled rubber. All too often, damaged tires are dumped in landfills consuming valuable space, leading to the risk of fires, and potentially releasing harmful chemicals, such as methane gas, that will contaminate ground water and local land sources.

A lot of money but worth it!
A bit of trouble to get on and straight and tight , But they work GREAT. We just finished with 8 snow days in a 9 days stretch and I had to push the show banks back to accommodate the extra. These "chains" provided the extra grip. Hint: jack the tractor up and lower the tire pressure a lot. Then get the chains on and straight and air up the tires.

Terragrips Tire "Chains", verses traditional 2 Link Tractor Tire Chains
For discussion and review purposes, let's assume that correctly installed, fully functional "traditional tire chains" provide traction on various surfaces (concrete, asphalt, etc.) at the highest level of any user installed traction supplemental device. I will call this traditional tire chain traction level a "10" for comparison purposes to the Terra Grips. First, I have used "traditional tire chains" for more than 3 decades on various compact tractors. For the last 17 years, I have used a John Deere 455 Diesel tractor, which is rated at 22hp. My first set of John Deere chains last over 10 years. My next set lasted about 3 seasons. Since that time, I have used at least one set of chains per season, while plowing the same surfaces and quantities of roads and driveways. Clearly, the quality of the tire chains has diminished as the prices have declined, as my most expensive set of chains purchased were the original set which lasted a decade. The least expensive (I want to stress lowest initial purchase price, highest frustration level during ownership) regular "tire chains" were the ones which I just threw away. I suspect this is directly related to many former quality products now being made in China. Personally, I consider a "Made in China" label as a PRODUCT WARNING LABEL. The Terra Grips are made in America, which Is always a good thing. The failure with the traditional tire chains was always occurring in the tire tread cross chains. Individual chain links would fail. Some broke, others were rapidly worn through. In any event, "traditional tire chains" sure aren't the quality they used to be. As cross chains fail, they flail around under the fender banging into the tractor fender and axle housing, while also threatening to damage various hydraulic lines, electrical harnesses, etc. Once the cross chains fail, I originally repaired them with special "repair links", which proved to be a complete waste of time. Soon thereafter, I was stopped plowing and lying on the ground either cutting the broken chains off the tire chains or using zip ties to tie them off, to allow me to get back to my shop without the flailing broken chains simultaneously damaging something while driving me crazy. Anyway, if "Traditional Tire Chains" are the "traction standard" for user installed traction assistance, I found the Terra Grips an interesting concept but really questioned their traction abilities. Here is how I would rate the Terra Grip Traction Strips after having used them for over 30 hours of plowing and snow blowing in just 2 weeks since their installation; Concrete Surfaces - Terra Grips provide a strong 8 and even a 9 out of a possible 10 rating for traction. Asphalt Surfaces - Terra Grips provide a 7 to 8 for traction assuming that a level 10 is great. Frozen Ground (lawns, dirt drives, gravel surfaces) - Terra Grips provide a 7 to 8 for traction, but they also don't destroy the frozen lawn, etc. Sheer Ice (the kind you can barely stand on and can't walk on without falling) - Terra Grips add minimal traction providing maybe a 2 or 3 level assistance as compared to the traditional chains superior performance of a level 10. The good news is for my purposes, I rarely encounter "Sheer Ice" conditions on any large scale. My experience was in a culdesac which had flooded during a very brief thawing period and then froze to sheer ice, which one could have skated on with ice skates if available. In that scenario, the Terra Grips were better than nothing, but not by much. Now that same area has hard packed snow mixed in and the Terra Grips provide very good traction when they have the opportunity to "grip something", like the hard packed snow. But on solid sheer ice, you are going to find nothing which works like "traditional chains" as the chains actually score the surface to bite into the ice to get traction. While that is fine on solid ice, that same chewing into the surface on a traditional road or driveway surface is a major negative and can be very destructive. The installation of the Terra Grips couldn't have been easier. Installing a set on the rear tires took no more than 10 minutes. Once installed, they do not twist and flex like the traditional chains can while underway at tractor road speeds. Overall, I am very pleased with the Terra grips. I have to admit that I was skeptical and almost ordered another set of "traditional tire chains" as backup if these failed to meet my needs. Now I see no reason to have the traditional chains and their related headaches. I would suggest to the manufacturer that they call them Terra Grip Traction Strips or something other than the traditional "chains" they are using in their name and description. Frankly, I see these as an overall superior product to the traditional chains in many ways including their ease of installation, their use without damaging the surface being driven on, their quietness and elimination of the occasional "chain rattles". Referring to these as chains diminishes this products best attributes, which is the elimination of the chain on the tread and road surface. So far, after two weeks of heavy use totaling over 30 hours already, these Terra Grips show no signs of wear or weakness. They are a very capable replacement for "traditional chains" and even though I expected these to not meet my stringent demands, I am not disappointed in anyway. I think my days of battling cross chain failures are permanently over. Based upon my extensive personal use of these Terra Grip Traction Strips, I would not hesitate to once again purchase them and I would strongly recommend them to anyone looking for an alternative to the traditional tire chains.

Better than chains
January 2019: * Purchased over a year ago but just now getting to use with several recent snowfalls. * My setup: John Deere x500 with blade; 200 ft/6000 sf asphalt driveway with some areas of slight incline; rural location with wind and snow drifts (some areas of removal 12"-24"). * When installing, use the method to let air out of tires and then inflate around grips. I have not had grips slip once! Chains had started constantly spinning and slipping off when there were slick areas or on a slight incline of the driveway. * No more scratches and marks left on the asphalt from the chains. * Be aware it will be a bumpy and rough ride on a hard surface (driveway), whereas it is a much smoother ride in the softened grass areas of spring. * Overall: Grips have worked well on my surface with my setup!

They provide dramatically improved traction over tires alone.
Excellent product. I was torn between the TerraGrips and steel chains. I was concerned about damage to my driveway with the steel chains when snow blowing but concerned that the TerraGrips would not give me the traction I needed. I’m happy to say the TerraGrips have exceeded my expectations. I have a John Deere X530 tractor with a 47” snowblower, HDAP tires, and 4 42lb. suitcase weights. The dealers will tell you that you don’t need chains with the HDAP tires but that is bad advice. I have a flat driveway and I’ve gotten stuck more than once with the HDAP tires without chains. I’ve now plowed three times after installing the TerraGrips and have had no issues. In fact the traction is dramatically improved. I’m sure they would still slip on sheer ice, but how often do you have sheer ice without at least a little bit of snow on top. I’ve had snow on top of slick ice and have had no issues. I don’t understand why the dealers don’t just recommend these with the purchase of a snowblower. It’s a no brainer and they work way better than just tires alone. The investment is extremely small considering the price of a tractor with a snowblower. I wish I would’ve bought these along time ago. It would’ve save me a lot of headache. If you’re on the fence, pull the trigger. You won’t be disappointed.

Wow, these chains have my attention!
I purchased these to replace the OEM chains that I bought with my Husqvarna lawn tractor. One of the OEM chains bent and became unusable within the first 3 days of use. Plowing with one chain just doesn't cut it! I started looking for suitable replacements and discovered the TerraGrips chains. I put them on this morning and figured it was all or nothing. I started off with the most difficult portion of my driveway by plowing uphill on ice/packed snow. These chains worked flawlessly moving snow uphill in what I would consider the worst case scenario. I was able to clear my 3800+ square feet drive in no time at all. These chains didn't leave me stuck or stranded this morning. These chains have my attention and I hope they continue to perform like they did this morning. I will try and update with a video demonstration over the course of weekend, pending additional snowfall.

Nice ride, great traction! Doesn't tear up pavement or lawns!
Very pleased! I had read the reviews and decided to give them a try. I have been using chains for years but wearing out cross links regularly, marking up my pavement, tearing up my lawn and enduring a rough ride. These seem like the cross links will last longer than the chains, they don't mark up my pavement or tear up my lawn and they give you a smoother ride. I live in new england and i put them on before snow and used them during fall yard work. I am glad i put them in while it was warm, the rubber cross links flex easier to make fitting and installation easier. Now they are still on the tractor with my snowblower. I have a heavy tractor, a John Deere 425 it weighs over 800 pounds dry with no weights or attachments i have a 48 inch blower (maybe 250 pounds with the mount) on the front and just over 300 pounds of wheel weights and iron on the back. I installed them as tight as I could and tensioned them with a rubber bungee cord. They have slipped a little on the wheel but settled into a position they were happy in and they make the tractor go! Even with all the weight i am moving I occasionally spin my wheels and they are holding up well! I may never go back to chains!

Works better than expected
Honestly better than I expected. I used chains on my lawn tractors prior to buying these, but I was tired of leaving spin marks all over the concrete driveway when snowblowing and hoped this would be an improvement on that, and I would settle for a bit less traction. However, they actually performed better than the chains I had on and I went up and down my driveway, which has a somewhat steep incline, with no problems, and better than my chains. The tires were 20x8 and the tractor is an Ariens 22 HP with an older (heavy) Bercomac snowblower on the front, which caused for some issues as the front of the tractor was often heavier than the back, even with me on it (I weigh 260 pounds). I added 25 pound wheel weights as well, but that doesn't explain how much better the traction is - I still have traction issues on pure ice (as I did with chains), but in snow it works great and I could not ask for more. I live in New Brunswick, in Canada, and we have lots of snow and through 3 major storms of more than a foot of snow each time I've had no issues at all, just be sure to make the fit as tight as possible - I did not deflate and then inflate the tires as some suggest, but I did put bungee cords across the face of tire to tighten it as much as possible, 2 cords per tire.

They do what they need to do for Western NY Winter
Got these for plowing snow on John Deere 425 with garden tires and wheel weights. I left them in the sun and then installed. Went on no problem over garden tires The belts do a very good job of giving traction on asphalt. They don't bit as hard as chains when your on a lot of ice but still got enough traction and my new drive way still looks good with no chain marks. I had no problem pushing all types and amounts of record high snow amounts this season in the Rochester, NY area. They do less damage and are much quieter than chains. I would recommend giving them a try along with poly plow blade and shoes to protect your asphalt or concrete.

Added Traction
I am using the TerraGrips on a Bad Boy zero turn mower. We have had lots of rain in AR this year and I found myself spinning or getting stuck in areas I normally wouldn't. I have also used the mower at my son's house which has a steep back yard. The TerraGrips went on very easy by laying them down, backing over them, and hooking them up. I would warn you of clearance between the inside tire and any hoses. I had a fuel line that will need attention as it almost rubbed a hole in it which could have been disastrous. Otherwise they have allowed me to mow in wet and steep areas with less damage to the lawn had I not had them. You can still spin your tires but are less likely to. They appear to be very durable. Of course you get a bit rougher ride but again not an issue over the improved results.

Should of got these sooner!
First off, shipping was very fast, box arrived sealed with everything inside as ordered, instructions and all. I installed as directed bu deflating the tires to 2lb or less, installed these bicr and tight securing with cable ties all loose chain and added a fee of my own cable ties to make it even more tight. Wow, amazing traction with these on my turfs, I have to make tight turns and climb afterwards, with these noooo problem anymore, need to pull out my trailer, without these a hit and miss, now it is so easy! Just feels like a whole new machine and I think these will last forever, hard belted rubber and chains, really whats there to break. A little bumpy on a hard surface but don't even know they are on when on turf. Very happy customer!!!
