I read ALL the reviews and watched every DIY posted video on this product before I used it. I'm no pro but have used many a shake ball spray paint and an electric paint sprayer on some doors and valences for the house so I know preparation, environment temperature, wind, spray nozzle distance and an even hand sweep are all essential parts for quality results with spay paint. My project for this clearcoat product was to match my 15 year old cars existing factory clearcoat finish, and I'm happy to say I was successful! My cars (4runner) bumper has three parts and one section was rusting. I thought I could fix the heavily rusted section but it was too pitted, so I bought an aftermarket bumper section that was primed and went from there. Surface area of the bumper section is about 24" x 12". I used two cans of Dupli-Color and 3/4 of one can of this USC Spray Max 2k High Gloss Clearcoat. I suspended the bumper section on one side of the garage door track with wires at chest height, as close to the center of the garage as possible as I've done with like size spray paint projects that I've done many times before. I'm not looking to repeat the same info that others have posted, so I'll comment on what surprised me: Dupli-Color did leave some light orange peel but I read that it is normal for a standard factory auto paint to have a little orange peel, so I just did a little light sanding before the clearcoat. This clearcoat is very different to any paint I've used before! A quality air mask is a MUST when you use it, I would say even if you use it outdoors. This clearcoat also left a bonded textured film from the overspray and application mist on EVERY surface in the whole garage! I mean everything, lawnmower, hand tools, produces on shelfs, trash cans, hoses, even the door knob into the house! I've spayed 12-14 cans of other paints and lacquers with only the garage floor being effected by the overspray and that always swept up as dust after. Not this stuff! If I used it again I would buy a used tent and spray it inside the tent because even outside in the yard would have issues, like flying bugs! Also, once it's on your part (or anything it touches) it bonds to the surface (hence a quality air mask). Removing it wet or dry will be an insanely difficult job, so use caution. It takes time to cure fully. It's now been about a month and the finish is as hard as the original (not that it takes a month to cure, but give it mutable days to set completely) Very happy with the product and would use it again!

Glad I bought the two pack. One didn't make any sound whatsoever when trying to activate. Kinda started leaking a little at the bottom. Unable to trust that can (and fearing for my life), I attempted to activate the other. Clicked and worked perfectly on that one. The first one I tried is sitting outside while I think of a way to dispose. Don't forget your PPE people! Update: They refunded me for the defective can. Really is still a great product. Will order again for the next project. Update JULY2017: Ordered another two pack for a project. Both cans "popped" correctly and worked perfectly. You won't find a better clearcoat in a can, period! SHAKE WELL!!!

I purchased this clear primarily to coat headlamp assemblies that were severely oxidized. Of course I prepped first by sanding as required. I had enough to apply 2 medium/wet coats to 4 headlamps, 1 center high mount stop lamp, and 2 tail lamps. I still had enough to clear more, but unfortunately I ran out of things to spray at this time. This clear is amazing, and no paint gun to clean afterwards. I will definitely be purchasing more as needed, and highly recommend this product to anyone that needs a higher quality product in an easy to use delivery system.

For easy touch ups or full body panels, this is the absolute best clear coat in a rattle can! 100% factory quality clearcoat. Sprays on evenly & no nozzle drips!! This is not the same clearcoat as your typical over the counter ones. This has the clear and the hardner mixed in. The top of the van has the orange button on it that you have to remove and flip the can to activate it. It's easy to do. Just make sure you shake it up a bit and your good to go. Keep the can about 8 inches from the item being sprayed & 15 min between re coats. You can heat gun/hairdryer to speed up heat curing. I left it out on a sunny hot day and it did the trick

Used this to repair motorcycle fairings. I've worked at auto body shop since I was 15yrs old and still know people in the biz. I have to say, this is a great solution (not substitute!) for DIY folks who want a reliable clearcoat but do not want the hassle or price paid for getting an auto body shop to clear for you. I did my prior research on this and other suitable aerosol clear coats and none matched the quality of this product. If you don't know the main contributing factor for this clear versus the other off-the-shelf clearcoats that you can get at an auto store or hardware store, this is a 2 part (2k) clearcoat, which means 1 part clearcoat solvent and 1 part hardener. The hardener is within the aerosol can and requires activation prior to use. Additionally, as the can recommends, this is for professional use. While not a professional by any means, I do have experience painting so that does help as far as prepping and application goes. Don't expect flawless results by just popping open the can and clearing on anything you see - SORRY but it doesn't work that way! Patience is key, not just with this product but with painting in general if you want a good finish. Let me go with this as the first part as I know most people will overlook this aspect (myself included). SAFETY! This isn't your run of the mill rattle can from autozone or home depot and even if it was, you shouldn't be using aerosol spraycans, especially Spraymax 2k in your garage/basement/bedroom unless it is set up properly for ventilation. Wear a respirator! To activate the hardener, shake vigorously for about 2min, remove the attached red button press, turn the can upside down and place the red button on the activator switch (totally made up the name for that part). Using the ball of your hand, press firmly down until it won't go anymore. Make sure you place it either on the ground or something sturdy when doing this. You won't really get any notification that you did it right other than a slight click, but if you did, the red button will stay in place. Then shake for another 2min to ensure proper mixture of the two solvents. As far as application and finish, Spraymax 2k is on point. The spray pattern is super wide, mimicking that of a real spray gun. When spraying, you will also notice that it sprays on SUPER fine which helps it blend well with what you already have laid down. You want overlap 50% of your previous line. The high gloss finish is amazing! You really will be surprised at how nice this sprays as well as the finish. To further the finish even more, Spraymax 2k has great buffability so taking wetsanding with 1500 or greater sandpaper and buffing afterwards will yield you mirror finish! As with all auto painting, your finish will be reliant NOT on just how you spray! People fail to remember that surface preparation as well as outside temperature play a huge role in the outcome of your finish. Again, take the time to prep and paint and you will truly be amazed at this product. You will see beyond the $30 a bottle and notice that in the end it was worth every penny.

I love this product and how it works for the DIY person who cant spend $2000 to have two bumpers painted. Lets set the record straight for those writing negative reviews. Before trashing this product, look first to your own mistakes because that's where most of this is from - I can tell. So let me correct or explain why (some) small number of people are getting negative results. Not shiny looks Matte - User error. If you have properly prepared your surface (which is a big task by itself) then two things. You want to spray it on wet. This is NOT primer or base coat where you DUST the first coat. If you do you are laying down a dull layer. Spray wet, 50% overlap and hand distance away (about 6 to 8 inches). Too far away and you are dusting. Be brave but don't OVERDO it. Doesn't harden - Yes, it does. But if you think you can wet sand and polish the next day - no you cant. First, you need to let it harden a good 24 hours before even using the car. Second, don't touch it, sand it or play with it for about 7 to 10 days. This is not $500 a can professional clearcoat for an autobody shop. Be patient and for God's sake don't wax it or dress it at all until well after the sanding and polish phase The attached pictures are my baby (2008 Mustang GT California Special). I used their 2K Primer, Base coat from Scratch wizard Ford HP White and Spray May Clear. 3 coats of each. The pictures may not do it justice and that is fresh (no sand and polish) but of you do it RIGHT, you get amazing results

Very impressive when used to refinish head or tail lights on a car. Worth the money. I didn’t sand with any grit over 1500. I’ll update if I notice any yellowing over time.

Happy with the results but it is very pricy. These are better for people who do not have much experience with an air-spray gun who knows the right mixing ratio. I ended up rattle-canning my whole car (its a 20 year-old daily and it didn’t need a 4k paint job). I also didn’t have much day time either, so being able to spray the car without having to run an air compressor at 11pm was a plus. To do my size mini-SUV with 3 coats of clear coat (you will want to do atleast 3 coats) I almost use 3 cases (yeah thats a lot, and yes it would have been way cheaper to just use an air-spray gun). But I am really happy with the results. There is a bit of a learning curve to rattle-canning, human error can easily turn a high quality product to crap if not sprayed at the right distance, shaken long enough, strokes or temperature environment. I would buy some cheap spray cans and practice first since these cans are pricy. Overall, I only had about 4 runs on the entire car I had to go back and stand/buff-out. I had very little orange peel. Out of the 3 cases I did have two cans that were a bit defective in that they leaked a bit on the bottom after popping them. And about 3 nozzles did not spray evenly or dripped, so I had to swap it out with another can or reuse a previous one.

Just wow. An actual two part epoxy clear coat in a can. Great super high gloss clear. Is the same product used by professionals. Spray tip is amazing and dries quickly. One thing, because it is a two part epoxy paint it contains dangerous chemicals. You must use a respirator!!! And don't paint in a living area. Overspray dust dissipates quickly and within 30 mins you can allow fresh air into the area.
