works like a charm
very easy installation, took less than 5 minutes. the receiver was smaller than i expected, which is a good thing. it fit in the fan mount housing with some "wiggle room", so it didn't feel cramped. NOTE: the receiver beeps every time the wall switch is turned on, and it beeps whenever any remote button is pressed.

Great price, great functions
Could it be better? Sure. Pros - Very small receiver, so it fit inside a strangely designed fan housing, was much cheaper than the OEM model, and had more cool features. Cons - I have typically bad older person vision. I wish all products used much larger buttons, and much larger fonts. And while I'm at it, I wish the physical layout removed guessing. For example, they offer 1,2,4,8 hour count down timer. But the 1h is placed at 9 O'clock (if this were a clock). I would never guess that. So I have to look closely at it when I set it. (I own MANY devices with timers, no two the same). I would prefer simply a stack of buttons, the top being 1h, bottom is 8h. Simple. Add in a raised single dot on 1H for the win. (of note, I add a drop of crazy glue to solve this on devices. Works great. If I can feel for the dot, I can at least instantly set my most common things without even looking). - You have to select light or fan power before setting the timer. I see why they did this, but I would argue that by default it should just turn on the fan the way it was set last. So if last time you set it to medium, and the light was on, then do that again. That all being said, I still give it 5 stars. It is a great product at a cheap (fair) price. I will buy it again in 5 years because I live near the ocean and all electics fail about every 5 years.

Works Well
This is a cheapo little thing that barely even has instructions in English, but it definitely works just fine and looks pretty good on our wall. We used it with a Hunter fan in a room that didn't have a switch wired to the fan/lamp, so the only way to use it was to literally walk up to it and pull the cord. When we went to replace it, we decided a remote control was in order. It comes with both the controller that goes into the ceiling with the fan and the remote itself. The buttons are soft rubber, like most tv remote and control both the speed of the fan and the light on/off. I think there is a timer also, but I can't speak to how well that works because we forget about that feature.

I'm cool, he's not cold
I love this thing. I have a 52 inch ceiling fan in the bedroom that I have on high every night, summer or winter, because I can't sleep if the room is warm. It has pull chains, but I could never remember what it was set on, so I usually just left it on high all the time. Problem: my husband's bathroom is the ensuite, and he'd be freezing when he got out of the shower and left the bathroom, so he'd shut off the fan. I'd get into bed that night, get comfortable, then look up and see the fan wasn't on, so I'd have to get up. Now, I don't; I turn it on after I get in bed, set the timer, and it turns off before my freshly showered husband freezes. Win-win. As for the installation, the hardest part was figuring out how to secure the unit within the canopy. It fit under it, but not in the bracket (in fairness, the bracket space in this fan is tiny) so I had to get a bit creative with three heavy-duty cable ties. Otherwise, the install was easy. We thought at first that the fan didn't work--the light did--but that was because I was impatient and hadn't held the button down long enough the first time it was turned on by the remote. Husband held it down for a full four seconds, and the fan came on. Once he did that, it worked just fine. I don't mind the beep at all; I actually prefer it because I know it registered the button press.

Does the job, works with LED lamps
I have Hampton Bay fans with fancy dimmable lights. I switched from incandescent lamps to LED. The lights were always on, even when the controller turned them "off". Hampton Bay told me LED bulbs aren't compatible with their fans, which is a bunch of bunk. LEDs don't dim as well as incandescents, but they all turn on with 110V and turn off with 0V. The problem is the Hampton Bay receiver, which doesn't turn the light power all the way off. LEDs are so efficient, there's enough power to keep them on. This controller uses a relay to turn the lights on and off. It works great with LED lamps. I lost the dimming function, but I never used that anyway. Now I can run the fan at night. Installation was easy. The receiver fit in the canopy. I kind of like the beep. I probably won't use the timer much, but it's nice to have.

Switch box mounting is also an option
Great product that works as advertised. I for one like the "beep" feedback the unit provides. In my case the receiver did not fit in my fan mount. Instead, I mounted the unit in the 3-gang switch box which previously held the old controls for the speed and light. I was then able to affix the remote holder to the switch plate.

I'm a fan!!!
I've wanted to be able to turn the ceiling fan in my bedroom on and from my bed for years. Every once in a while I've looked for a solution and the PECHAM remote is the first time I found something that looked like it would do what I want. I looked online for instructions on how to disassemble the fan, and that was probably a mistake. I took off the light kit and blades unnecessarily. All I needed to do was loosen the collar at the ceiling, let it slide down to reveal the wires and access into the electrical can. The instructions that came with the remove were useless to me, but I found a PDF of instuctions for a Hunter Universal remote that worked perfectly. Two wires out of the ceiling connect the remote to electricity, and three wires into the fan control the fan. The device was a very tight fit. I shaved a bit of sheet-rock away to make it work, but the collar covers that up completely. I could have done the entire thing in an hour if I had not givem myself the extra work. On the positive side, the fan now has no dust on it at all!!! The device works perfectly. No problem with signal, I can adjust the fan from another room, or even downstairs. Very pleased also with the size and design of the remote. The beeping noise does not bother me. After reading the previous reviews I had considered disconnecting it, but I'm glad I didn't. It let's me know that the signal has been received.

If you can get past the installation, it's great!
As others have said, this thing can be a pain to install. I managed to squeeze the device into my Hunter fan after several attempts and almost giving up. There is no room left in that canopy for anything else! Also as others have mentioned, it makes a beep when you use the remote. I hoped I wouldn't find it annoying, but I did, so I followed another reviewer's instructions to remove the speaker. It popped off easily and now it just makes a soft click instead of a beep, which is perfect. Now I could never go back to a remote-less fan. I've had zero problems with it after months of daily use now (using it in my bedroom). Highly recommended!

Good, but tight fit
I have 2 separate wall switches for my fan - one for the fan and the other for the light. i hooked this remote up exactly as shown - res to black and white to white on the side with two wires. The other side with 3 wires I matched the colors coming from the fan. Voila! Worked perfectly and the wall switch still worked. The beep is not that annoying to me. it is faint, but if you have a light sleeper with you, it may be a concern. The part that goes into the fan housing is kinda big, so you may have to get creative in order to make it fit. I shoved it between the bracket and before I put the cover back on, I had to lower the screws to the cap a bit. This way the cap was able to sit a little lower and gave the wires a little more space inside. Overall, it is a nice product, but be prepared to do a little extra work if you have a small cover at the top of your fan.
