Got the chipper and just started using it. Very good internal chipper parts. the unit is plastic and metal, with metal in all the right places. The unit basically is like a kitchen food processor, with a plate with two blades that spins and cuts off a little at a time. The chipper plate is thick, tough steel in a steel enclosure. The motor is a universal type motor. The motor is reasonably quiet. Small branches go in easily, and will self feed. Besides the metal blade and enclosure, the remainder of the housing is plastic. It is tough, and I appreciate that it will not rust. The hopper contains all the chips that the machines throws down. Even though the housing is plastic, there are metal inserts in the plastic where screws attach, so no stripping of threads expected. A welcome surprise is that the chipper cutting blades are reversible with a second sharp edge available after a few seasons of use. The blades are also simple and can be sharpened. The housing opens with a simple hand turned knob, so jams can be cleared. A safety is in place so when the housing is open the unit will not run. The start stop buttons are well made as well. I was delighted that the machine is tougher than I expected and that it is built to be services.

(Pardon the poor quality camera, it's from a Verizon Illipsis 7): OK my people. This is the most redneck investment I've made, but it had to be done. For the past several years, I have been collecting pop cans, and instead now, I need it to be converted into a kitchen. My precious can room 😭 However, I will not surrender to this mountain! SO IT BEGINS! Pile of aluminum cans: āœ“ 15 amp Wood Chipper: āœ“ Hearing protection: āœ“ Eye protection: āœ“ Safety plunger āœ“ Scrap box: āœ“ Pros: It shreds Aluminum cans. It shreds Aluminum cands in seconds. It's powerful for it's size. The blade is made of a rather thick material. The box it comes in is a good Aluminum pile trash can. The recepticle bucket on the bottom is a great size for the number of cans I can shred through it. It has vent ports, which can keep your area cool while use on a warm day. Sturdy handle for moving. Cons (some written in good humor): It's rather loud, which is why the ear protection. The plastic flaps inside do not stop all chips, which is why the eye protection. Sometimes cans get stuck, so the plunger is needed. I had to modify the opening a bit to make hockey puck sized cans fit. It won't do the job for me (Need robot upgrade).

Ok... finally got a chance to put this thing to the test. I'm pleased with the results. If you're expecting results like the big gas powered jobs, you'll likely be disappointed. But with realistic expectations, I think you might be impressed with this unit. 1st... assembly is pretty straight forward. I was up and running in no time. 2nd... they do mention that damp leaves should be alternated with dried branches. That makes sense. 3rd... it includes a collection tub and a tamping down tool... both handy items (sometimes it's the little things) For me, i had a pile of brush that i had been quoted $200 for removal... i opted to buy this unit instead. After a couple hours stuffing dried brush and branches up to a little over 1" in diameter, I can say this unit will do what it says it will do. As you can see in the pics, the resulting mulch is perfectly usable around trees and such. It jammed up twice, but unclogging was a simple matter of unscrewing a knob and opening the unit to gain access. Then simply removing the wedged in item. It's not the same as a big gas powered chopper, but for those of us who simply want to clean up some household brush and trimmings, it does the job. For anything bigger, I'll burn it in a firepit. But so far, this unit works for me!

I think this is a great machine for small yard work. To me it seems like the negative reviews was from people expecting high end gas powered results. I hated bundling my small branches up for the garbage people cause they will leave them if they are not cut 3ft long and stacked 1 ft high. With this machine I was able to leave them with one garbage bag of multch. And I also cut branches up to a inche in a half with no problem. Great machine.

It arrived same day as planned but 4 hours earlier, which was great, because I had time to put it together so I could use it the next day. It went through a pile of tree limbs 4'x6'x3' high in 30 minutes. Two box loads of mulch. Ran fantastic, I was very impressed.

Love the catch bucket. This is not for great big items but works well clearing up my brush piles. The cat does not like it because of the noise. I like that the mulch is well cut up into tiny pieces which can be recycled to my garden to be tilled in or used to make rings around my fruit trees. It can also be used as a barrier in gardens without the added herbicides that can be found in store mulch and can kill plants.

Chops through almost everything that I put through it I don't know why anybody would give it less than five stars unless they are expecting the same type of handling of material as a bigger gas unit made for bigger branches but if you follow the guidelines to the size that you can put through it it is a powerful little 15 at motor that just chops through everything I was unbelievably surprised and impressed did not expect it to work this good I would recommend it highly to anyone for the price it is an amazing machine if it clogs you can unclog it very easy very easy to work on overly impressed

I have used this thing for a day, and so far I am extatic. I hope it’s going to be reliable; just in case I purchased a 2-year warranty. Honestly, I don't know why other two brands of wood chippers out there sell so much better than this one. They look awkward and don’t have a receiver container. I was a bit apprehensive to get it for the lack of reviews, but there were 2 things going for it: very similar ā€œchinese wonderā€ had excellent reviews on youtube and seemed so easy to "unjam" (one knob), and the container to collect the output (which works out beautifully and is a good size). This chipper seemed very "logical" to me, it has all that a chipper needs to have in my mind, larger acceptable diameter than other brands on Amazon, and it seems to be well-made. I guess, the time will tell how well. In a few hours that I used it, the pile in the picture diminished by 2/3, and it jammed on me ONCE (my fault, I put a wedge-shaped chunk of wood in it, that was thin, but wider than recommended diameter), took me less than 1 minute to get it out and keep going. You gotta love that! I didn’t put sticks over 1 1/2ā€ into it (as many people report that electric chippers don’t really live up to the max diameter promise. (I don’t have much of thick ones anyway). The chipper didn’t do all that well with thin brush, it processed it, but the length of the sticks coming out was 2-3ā€. Nor a major defect in my eyes. It didn’t do well with a clump of weeds either. It milled it into pulp, but I had to open it and clear the chamber. I don’t consider it a true jam (the blade was still spinning), because at that point the receiving container was full and might have prevented the stuff from coming out, I didn’t have another clump to give it a second shot. Either way, I’m fine with it. My main goal was wood chipping, and wood chipping it does. Also, I must say that it is rather quit. I have sensitive ears, and always put on ear muffs when using my table saw. With this chipper I was perfectly fine without ear protection. It looks like perfect gadjet for a weekend warrior. It definitely will not see much of heavy use with me. Some sticks and twigs from our trees (this load is an exception, we got rid of a large bush that was overtaking our patio). If I don’t have enough, now and then I might collect some branches in the surrounding woods to make more bedding for my bird cage (I find that grass or wood chips blend in bird you-know-what better than paper or newspaper:). This way I know for sure that it’s clean wood and it’s safe for my birds to chew on if they want to. I also had an idea to try this wood mulch for growing mushrooms. It appears that all ā€œregularā€ straw that you get at feed stores is hosed with either herbicides, or pesticids or the conbination of the two. Mushrooms have a tendency to accumulate all kinds of junk, so I’d rather have something ecologically clean to grow them on. I am not sure how well this will work out, but I’ll see in a few weeks… Happy chipping!

Nice garden tool to own. After getting to know this little machine, I love it. There are limitations, but I can live with them. Self feed feature is nice, but one must be careful because some material will feed fast enough to stall the motor. Chipping green material will require stopping to clean often. As mentioned in another review, make certain the safety switch opening is clear- had to blow it out each time it was opened. Doesn't bother my neighbors and good for the environment!

This chipper/shredder has more than enough power to get your residential jobs done around the house. But it wouldn't hurt if it had a third hole in the middle so that it won't be necessary to trim the side branches off in other words it's a nice piece of equipment and one more thing with would be nice if it had some extra blades I wouldn't mind paying a little more for it
