Amazing Product in a tiny package!
We camp a lot. And, in most the areas we camp, wifi is nonexistent. And, in a lot of the areas, weather can get crazy. So, I realized pretty quick we needed a weather radio. But, i didn't want to be dependent on batteries or AC power. So, I found this gizmo. I thought even if it only worked as a weather radio, I would be pretty happy. I got way more than my money's worth. First, the radio. IT has amazing reception. Found the weather band quickly everywhere we have camped so far. Also, on AM/FM, easy to tune and was pretty impressed with the sound, considering it is tiny and only has a single speaker. I mean, it's not a Bose, but for this size, price and versalitlity, this thing is amazing. The switch selects what band (weather/AM/FM), then the dial tunes it in. Super simple. Second, powering it up. The hand crank is quick to charge and easy to use. In probably 2 minutes, I had a full charge, and it lasted all weekend, with limited use. I used the solar charge next time. It did great! I just left it out in the bright sunshine for the day, and the battery was full that night! Third, the flashlight. As I said, we're camping. We have a tiny camper with no bathroom. So, midnight trips to the potty are a regular thing! The flashlight on this was surprisingly bright. I was pretty happy with that! Also, even using the radio and flashlight, the charge lasted and lasted! Last is the USB charging. I'm a bit finicky with my electronics, so I didn't use it. Sorry! But, I'm always afraid using a non-approved charging device could screw up my warranty. So, I didn't purchase this with any intent of using that function and did not. But, truly, this thing is amazing. It's a tiny little gizmo, so it takes almost no storage space. Then, you combine it with how great it works?! Heck yeah, I'll recommend it!

Good, if you don't count on it to charge your phone. (Updated version fixes issue!)
Update! They have corrected the phone charging issue by switching to standard USB connections like most USB battery banks and more than tripled the battery size. That corrects the only issue I had with this device so I am upgrading it to 5 stars. Below is my original review of the old product version. (Still working after almost 3 years of light use) ----------------------------------------------------------------------- The radio, flashlight, crank, and solar charging work fine. The 5V charging output is limited in two important ways. First, as you would expect this device has only a tiny 300mAh 3.6V NiMH internal battery so at best it can only hold enough energy to charge your cell phone a few percent, unless you'd like to turn the crank constantly. I don't consider this a con as it only promises a few minutes of talk time. My Nexus S 4G (1600mAh battery) went from 40% to 47% before the internal battery was dead. Second and not expected is the charging adapter (2.5 mm to USB A) is so flimsy that it fell apart the first time I tried to connect it together. The force required to CAREFULLY insert the adapter into the cable broke the inside of the adapter the FIRST time it was plugged in. If you are able to safely insert the adapter into the end of the included cable, tape it up and make sure not to place any stress on it. Lucky for me I have lots of other cables around so I just cut it apart and made my own cable, so it works fine for me, but unless you can do the same don't count on the charging feature to be useful. I don't understand why they didn't just put the USB A connector right inside the unit like most USB chargers, it would be less to lose (or break) and likely cheaper for them.

I am very satisfied with this purchase!
The product exceeded my expectations. I like how rugged it feels (heavy duty). Initially I ordered this incase of an emergency since I live in a typhoon prone area, but it became daily use. The radio picks up signal really well. Multiple charging methods is a big plus. Battery life holds up long on a single charge. Flashlight could be brighter but it is enough for illuminating paths. Overall great product and I would definitely get one for my family this Christmas.

No batteries required
I was a bit surprised when I opened the package and found such a small compact radio that while still inside the box was a bit larger than the length of my hand. My initial thought was, how could something this small have so many fantastic features? It is a workhorse for its size, and is a wonderful addition to anyone's bug out bag or in home emergency supply kit. If a true emergency occurs, batteries will be in short supply and you will surely want to ration all that you have which makes this an excellent choice because you can use solar power or crank it. I didn't do either when I first turned it on and it was already powered up. I also love the fact that you can charge your cell phone. I have not tried that yet and many reviewers have said you don't get much charge.Realistically if there is a true emergency/natural disaster you are never going to be able to dial out because the circuits will all be jammed. My advice for those who think this doesn't have enough power to charge their phone is to a) Put your phone away, you know you spend way too much time on it anyway. Talk to your family and friends, it feels so much nicer to really connect with people than playing with electronics constantly. b) Use your vehicles battery, if you must charge your phone.

Recommended, Yes.
Over the years I've bought a few of these type of emergency radio/light/chargers to throw in my backpack or to keep close by if the power goes out for an extended period of time. For the price, this is a very good item. Don't expect a 100 dollar flashlight or surround sound radio because that's not the purpose. The radio is more than adequate and the charger, while slower than an actual sun panel, will charge your phone in an emergency. As for the flashlight, it does what it needs to do which is provide a small source of light. Overall this is one of the better ones that I've owned and I'd recommend it to anyone.

EMERGENCY Solar Hand Crank RADIO
I am giving this 5 stars for what it is, after reading some critical reviews that are critical of what it isn't. So what it is: Radio that will get AM, FM, and "Weather Band". This radio works nice and clear, even in places where you'd think there would in interference (like in a building or a basement). This radio is basically not going to run out of battery. ALSO IF YOU KEEP THIS IN YOUR BAG: You have an emergency flashlight. Consider adding a "glow in the dark" sticker to it. IN A PINCH: You can keep a cell phone that is in the red, going for the length of an emergency phone call. Things this is not: *A USB Battery bank. You can get those too, but this isn't that. *A tactical flashlight. Seriously, people, are we so maladapted to the realities of the world that we want everything to be everything? This is ab excellent emergency solar hand crank radio and a great deal to boot. Be happy.

iRonsnow IS-088 Dynamo Emergency Solar/Hand Crank radio/light
The reception on this radio is exceptional on all three modes, AM/FM/Weather. Upon taking it out of the box, without charging it by solar or hand crank, it has been operating every day for five days so far. I have been using it in my basement where the reception is historically poor and the stations come in crystal clear. If you are in need of a radio/light for emergency purposes, you cannot go wrong with this radio

Will come in handy
My favorite thing about this emergency radio is that it has 3 different ways to charge it: cables, solar, and hand-crank. I tried all three ways, and they all work well, but my favorite is using the hand-crank. It's not difficult to crank it, it doesn't take long to charge, and when you're finished, the crank tucks into the back of the device. The strip on the top allows the device to be charged by placing it in sunlight. Solar charging seems to take a while, but I think it's awesome that I have that option. I've even noticed the light on, when it's in indirect sunlight. When the device is charging, a little red light comes on. I love that there's no need for batteries, since the thought of running out, during an emergency, makes me nervous. As for listening to the radio, you can set it to WB (for weather reports), FM, or AM. Tuning and changing the volume is easy enough, and there's even a little green light that comes on, when the station is "fully engaged", as the instructions put it. I really like the inclusion of the green light, because it makes it easy for me to tell when I've got the dial placed at the best spot. If you need better reception, you can extend the antenna. The sound is decent, even though I'm in an area that is known to have trouble with reception. The flashlight can be turned on by pressing the black button, at the top. The brightness is pretty good. I tried using it in a small, completely dark room, and it illuminated it enough that I had no problem seeing the entire room. The actual focus point of the light could be bigger, but it's more than adequate. I like that the radio isn't heavy, and the small size is perfect, for me. The color is more vibrant than I was expecting it to be. I'm used to items like these being a dusty red, so that was a small, but nice surprise. I also appreciate that it comes with a small lanyard, in case you need to carry it on your wrist or hang it up. Included were two different types of cables, which can be used to charge this device, and you can also use them to charge another device (i.e. a phone), using the emergency radio. My only complaint is that the USB cable that it came with, doesn't fit most of my devices, because the small end is slightly too large. Not a big deal, though; I have many other cables that I can replace it with, so I can use that feature. I think the fact that you can charge other devices is a definite plus. I'll be putting this radio with the rest of my emergency supplies. Note: I received this product, for free, in exchange for a review. The product was sent directly to me, from the seller, so that's why my review isn't marked as a verified purchase. I hope the information and photos that I provided are enough proof that I actually used the product.

Solar, will charge cell phones
I am very pleased with this solar flashlight/radio. Using it for my emergency backpacks. Also we take this along with us on trips. We spend a lot of time in the back country. One of it's many features is the ability to charge cell phones. Because flashlight/radio charges with solar or hand crank, one can always have cell phones charged, light and radio. I would highly recommend this to others

Works better than expected
I was concerned because no lumen was listed, but literally just two-three cranks and a bright light came up! You can charge it 3 ways, haven't tried the solar yet, but hand crank and usb work great. Only issue is the charge light doesn't turn green when connected to wall/usb, that would be nice. Radio is awesome, sound quality is fantastic. This is a must have if you live in Florida. Came in a sturdy box, with clear instructions. Walmart wanted over $65 for something similar that did solar/usb/hand cranking, plus emergency radio. Wish we had this when Hurricane Irma hit us, it would have been a lifeline then, as we were without power for 10 days
