I can hear again while working in my shop.
For years I have run various air compressors in my shop. Some were powerful and some not. The one thing they all have in common is the noise. Started looking for something a tad quieter and came across the California Air Tools Ultra Quiet line while researching. Told my running buddy about the find and the 60db sound level and he was really skeptical. First time I ran my new model 8010 I was truly amazed. You can hardly hear it and what you do hear is a soft purr. My friend stopped down to check it out and when I flipped the switch it only took about 20 seconds before he said that his order would be going in for one. Outstanding product!!!!!!

Whisper quiet!
I bought this to provide compressed air for my wood shop, after seeing one in use on a YouTube video. It gives me all the air pressure I need, and recharges very quickly (typically in slightly more than a minute and a half!) once the pressure switch detects the supply in the 8-gallon tank getting low. Most importantly, though, it does it's job very, VERY quietly! When the pump kicks on, it's no louder than my gas boiler. Sometimes, I don't even notice it cycling!! As a bonus, the pressure relief and drain valves are located very conveniently. Both are easy to reach and operate smoothly and simply. Also, the price was very affordable! Very happy with this purchase.

Great little compressor and quite too.
Let's start with what it's not. The small tank and slow recovery makes it unsuitable for sandblasting, spray painting your house, operating air grinders or sanders or any other task where a high volume of high pressure air is needed. Don't get me wrong, it will do all those things just very slowly. It is however perfect for air nailers, air brush painting and spray painting small things. It will file tires, blow the dust off of tools inflate balloons and balls. It will do all this without the need to wear hearing protectors. Yes it is very quiet. The compressor comes with a coupler that accepts both industrial and automotive connectors. Get 25 feet of flexible hose and you are all set. Yup 25' is all you need it runs off of any household outlet, drawing less than 10 amps and is portable enough to roll or carry to where needed and it's quite enough to sit close by where you work Others in your house will thank you foe getting such a quiet air compressor.

Extremely quiet
Received today and I was a little surprised how tiny the compresor is but the 1hp is very quiet. I use to own a 2hp 4.5 gal and I thought that one was quiet too. Between the 2 hp and the 1 hp, the 1hp is absolutely much quieter. Just received it 3-1-17 I'll update review once I get more use out of this.

Great product. I wish I had bought this many ...
Great product. I wish I had bought this many years ago. I will list some pros and cons; Pros: This thing is quiet. And I mean quiet. I had a 33 gallon Craftsman that was an absolute monster when it was on. Hearing protection was a must if I was standing next to it while it was filling up. This little California Air Tool compressor is an absolute dream. I am still in awe when it fills up. As for filling up, not bad at all. Takes next to no time to fill up the 8 gallon tank to pressure. I mainly use it for blowing out my lawn tractor air filter and topping off my tires now. I have used it once for a brad nailer and had no problems with maintaining pressure. Would I use it for an air chisel or air drill, probably not. Minor assembly is required out of the box. Pretty easy to put the wheels and air filter on. The fittings are tight. I filled tank to pressure and it has held constant pressure with no leakage yet. Cons: You can tell from the git go that this is a made in china product. It's the little things that really count. The weld seams around the tank look like they were done by a 3 year old. The mount for the rubber stop was welded off canter from the tank and the weld, even though it is holding well and does not seem to affect the quality of the product, is poorly done. The nice silver paint does seem to hide these imperfections, but I can only imagine the majority of the cost of this compressor is probably in the two stage pump and motor. That is fine as like I have just mentioned, this thing is one quiet air sucker. Overall rating of this product is a 5 so far. I will overlook the shoddy welding and rate this thing on performance. As of yet, it has surpassed my expectations.

It fills pretty fast and holds air no leaks
This air compressor runs so quite you wouldn't know is running if you were a few feet away. It fills pretty fast and holds air no leaks . It looks great and looks well made for a item made in China. My last air compressor was so load I had to wear ear plugs and it was only a 5 gallon . I believe you can buy this with confidence that it will be the best buy for your air tools in a long time. Wish I had bought this years ago. Hope this helps you with your thinking about buying one.

A joy to use
I had a cheap 3 gallon pancake compressor prior to this and it was so loud I never used it. But this beauty... I find excuses to use it. While I wouldn't call it "ultra quiet" compared to every day items, it is very quiet for a compressor. You can easily have a conversation standing next to it while it's running. It is quieter than my clothes washer and louder than my clothes dryer... but not by much. If it's in another room, you're probably not going to notice when it comes on. This guy is REALLY heavy, but the wheels move smoothly and quietly. You can tote it around the shop without any issues. My only complaint on this aspect is the handle is very short so you have to bend over to do so. But if the handle were longer, it would be a pain to store, so I suppose it's a good trade-off. Assembly is a bit scary to do on your own because it's very top heavy and wants to violently tip. This is mitigated significantly once the wheels are on. Two things I'd change about this - The tank pressure indicator is on the front, facing forward instead of up. I haven't had a need to use it, but it's not easy to read when I need to. And the moisture release valve on the bottom is a bit hard to access if you have fat hands. This sits pretty low to the ground and it would be easier if the wheels were just a little bigger.

Very quiet as long as it is set up properly
I am not sure why any review would say this compressor is noisy?? There is an air filter that needs to be attached to it and as long as that is on, this thing just purrs. It's so quiet I mounted it to the wall. I am extremely happy with this unit. It is completely as advertised and very quiet. This is for occasional home use with micro nailers and for adding air to tires and such. I have had no air leaks and the build quality seems quite good, so I am expecting long life from this compressor. Time will tell, but first impressions are great.

Wonderful Piece Of Equipment For Light To Medium Jobs
Received 11-08-2016. The box was pretty messed up but that's Fed-Ex's fault for handling it like trash, NOT AMAZON! After unpacking it I notice that a head bolt was missing so I searched the box and there is was rolling around on the bottom. I couldn't find the washer that goes with it so I screwed the head bolt in and snugged it down gently. One wheel was damaged in shipping but worked although it wobbles because of the damage. Again, I believe the above is a shipping mishap not that of AMAZON. OK! Plugged it in and fired it up. Is it running? Yep, and quietly I might add. Ran for a couple of minutes, filled the tank and shut off. I unplugged it and it's been sitting for almost 24 hours without ANY drop in pressure. Excellent! The output pressure regulator is simple to use. Just pull the knob out and rotate clockwise to increase output pressure to your accessory or turn counter-clockwise to reduce the output pressure to your accessory. Push the knob back in when done. Simple. I contacted Customer Service about the above items and spoke to Daniel who was very helpful. Filled out the form on the California Air Tools website and hope to see the parts in short order. This is a wonderful piece of equipment, very simple to use, and hope to get many years of service out of it. I highly recommend it for light to medium jobs around your garage and home. Customer Service was very good as far as I'm concerned - Thanks for the help Daniel. Vince. Update 01-01-2019 Still going strong after 2 years. Very highly recommended. -v-

Awesome, AWESOME air compressor for hobby use
Awesome, AWESOME air compressor for hobby use. It sits in my office under my painting desk and runs at about 60db when it is running. I can airbrush for around 10 minutes at 25psi before it has to refill. If anyone is looking for the end all, be all airbrush compressor, this is it! It beats the hell out of the little TCP-20 I had. Only thing to be aware of is that A) the air connection on the regulator comes from the factory with a quick release, which means you'll either need a 1/4" plug for your air hose or you will need to torque off the quick release adapter, and B) it does not have a moisture filter so I recommend either buying one here or going to Home Depot and spending $9 on one.
