  • ACCIDENT AUTO-DETECTION (G-SENSOR) AND PARKING MONITOR: When the built-in gravity sensor detects a collision, the current video is locked, ensuring important footage is kept protected. Parking monitor provides 24 hour protection.

After doing a lot of research on the internet, I decided to buy the Rexing V1 due to its size and due to the fact that it comes with an adhesive mount. I don't like suction cup mounts because they tend to fail over time. I hard-wired the unit to my car so that whenever the ignition is on, the unit will be powered. Pros - Secure adhesive mount (it has a quick attach/detach system); - Adjustable lens angle; - Ability to mute/unmute the microphone with the press of a button; - Excellent 1080p quality during daytime. The night time quality is not as great but it is still above the average when compared to other models; - Loop recording; - Ability to select the lenght of the video files (3min/5min/10min); - Stealth appearance; - ability to support up to 128GB (as of now I have only tried it with a 32GB card); - multi language menu; - ability to record speed and lat/long if using the GPS antenna (I bought the Itrue GPS logger. It allow me to view the tracking on the map, lat/long, current speed, max speed, average speed and distance traveled); - Screen saver that allows the screen to automatically turn off after 15sec, 1min or 3min; Cons - So far I have not found one (I have been using the camera for three weeks). EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE I contacted Rexing due to difficulties I was having to set the date format and to keep the time set. They responded back in less than 24 hours. They customer service representative was nice, understanding and polite and even offered me to issue a replacement unit under warranty. After troubleshooting the unit with the representative's support, all the issues I was having were solved. I was very truly impressed with Rexing's customer service. They are professional, understanding and commited to keeping their customers satisfied.

Let me preface by saying that I really like the unit. It's small and is somewhat camouflaged with it placement next to the rear view mirror in my 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Hopefully this keeps it from getting "ripped off" when the car is parked. This unit deserves actually 4 1/2 stars but I gave it 5 because of the good customer service. I emailed the seller a couple of times during the setup process and he responded within 24 hours and that was good enough for me. The reason for the 4 1/2 stars is that my unit came with the "motion detection" and "parking monitor" functions disabled and one would need to download the "expert" software from their website in order for that to function. They should have had those functions enabled initially and leave it up to the user to select them as needed. I have my unit connected to an "always on" 12 volt power supply which is available in the 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee. It is hidden in the center console. This way it allows me to leave the unit on when parked and be able to monitor anyone who backs up and hits my front bumper and drives away. This is the same as a permanent hard-wired solution. The only downside is that i have forgotten to turn the unit off and have parked in my garage and the unit continues to record hours of the garage wall. Essentially, it doesn't really matter anywhere because the videos loop over and overwrites. I purchased this unit with the recommended 64gb Sandisk microSD and it works perfectly. You must remember to format it in the unit before it reads and writes properly. I had to make some small adjustments to the "exposure" setting before I was satisfied with the videos. For me, leaving the "exposure" at "0"; the videos came out too dark. I had to increase exposure in 1/3 increments settling at 2/3 before the videos were satisfactory. In bright daylight; the videos were great but in overcast light some areas were a bit dark so setting the exposure at "2/3" worked out great. I assume this was also a function of the tinting on my windshield also. Overall, the unit does what is advertised and the videos are very good considering the unit cost under $100. It is not a Hasselblad but it will capture that moment that you need as evidence for your auto insurance company. Based on my experience, I recommend it and will purchase another. Hopefully, they will update the software and include the two missing features so that I don't have to download it. If you hard-wired the unit; you won't need it but if you plug it in into a 12volt outlet that only comes on when the ignition is on and you want to record and monitor you will have to download the "expert" software.

Updated: Customer service took care of me. Actually working quite well now. Thx. 2 incidents happened, rather scary. I am on the road alot. Lets go to the video, OOOPS card is corrupted. Not only corrupted, but now unusable. This card just came from my 1000$ Canon camera. Recorded many videos and thousands of pictures. Card was formatted in the dash cam. Wanted to like it, but it is nothing more that a disposable camera if it worked. I will try and use my Sony action cam. At least I know it works and the video is exceptional. So I am out the 99$ for the camera and a 60$ memory card. an expensive lesson to be learned. Wonder how many of these reviews were submitted the the manufacturer and their employees ? I must be the lucky one who git the defective one right ? I should be so lucky when I buy lottery tickets.

The product itself is great when it works - good quality video/audio. No wifi syncing/downloading option, which they've added in the newer model. Ran into 2 main problems (and the reason for the 2 star review): (1) The unit stopped working around 16 months after purchase :( [Shows a frozen picture on startup of whatever is in front of car, and the screen remains perpetually on with this picture and none of the buttons work, nor does it record video (2) This is minor, but a common problem: When parked in the sun (~70F, so not even crazy hot temps), the adhesive holding the unit to the windshield repeatedly comes off. This really is a solvable problem - i have fasttrak toll tags on the car and they never come off - Rexing needs to up their game on this one, as other reviewers too report this problem. Will see if Rexing customer support offers to fix (1) given barely out of warranty. Will update review if they set things right. No complaints about the product otherwise. === Update: Dec 7 2018: Brandon from Rexing followed up and offered to either replace the dashcam or refund the money - despite the product technically being out of warranty. Great to see the company standing behind its product - even beyond the official 1 yr warranty period - a sign that you can purchase with the assurance that the company will set things right if anything goes wrong. Updating to 5 star review (despite the nitpick about the adhesive not holding in hot temperatures still valid).

The camera is very lightweight and that a good thing if you want something to stay put when its in a hanging position. It takes a nice video so far and I like that I can tuck it up underneath my rear view mirror so its out of my sight.
