I have the 11 inch in my small 5 gallon planted betta tank, and let me tell you, I am super impressed. We have two anubias plants, a smaller amazon sword and a moneywort plant along with a floating pond plant that the betta uses as his bed. These plants are thriving! I have to trim back the floating plant once a week! The anubias' have gained 1 new leaf each and the sword has baby shoots starting to spring up. I was really worried that this light wasn't going to be strong enough for plants, but in the 5 gallon is has done amazing. It also shows off the betta's colors wonderfully.

I wasn't really thinking when I ordered my desk lamp that I use for an aquarium light for my small betta tank at work. It is touch activated, you touch the power button to turn it off/on or adjust the brightness. Well, unfortunately, this does not work with my timer. The timer can turn the light off, but it cannot turn it on, so I needed a small waterproof light to hook up to the timer so that when I am not here over the weekend, my poor fish doesn't sit here in the dark the whole time. So I ordered this light and planned on taking home my desk lamp to use on another tank at home. Well, now the lamp is staying because while this light does work nicely, it does not light up the tank as much as I thought it would, and I do have plants. Granted they are low light plants and will probably be fine, I would just like the tank a bit brighter. I also have a few floating plants so light from above really makes them look stunning. I went ahead and set this one up on the timer, however, so that no matter what (if I am sick, come in to work late, have to take off for whatever reason) my fish will at least have a light that comes on and goes off at the same time every single day. I set my desk lamp back up and can turn it on when I get here, and turn it off when I leave. In a way, I think this will sort of give him a sunrise/sunset type light schedule, except for the weekend. Every weekend for him will be like an overcast day lol. But at least he isn't sitting in the dark!! The light does have a cool tone to it tho, it's very pleasing to look at, just not as bright as I wanted it to be. The description did say it would be great for night time viewing, but I assumed since I had such a small tank this would be sufficient for daytime viewing, and it is to an extent. Since that was my mistake, I can't really see fit to subtract any stars from the rating, but be aware if you're buying this for daytime light - IT'S NOT THAT BRIGHT! This would be absolutely perfect for a night light in a larger aquarium! It seems well made, the suction cups are amazing. We shall see how it lasts for me, but so far so good! I have attached a picture (which really does not do the difference justice) of the MingDak light only on, and the MingDak + my desk lamp on at the same time. It gives you a bit of a comparison to how the two light tones compare, thee MingDak light makes everything have a blueish tone and the other light really makes the colors pop.

I'm very pleased with this light, especially for the price! I bought it to act as a "moonlight" for my 30 gallon planted tank since it gets a lot of high powered light during the day. I typically keep the bright lights on from 7am-7pm, and then switch over to this light for the evening. It helps reduce the chances of algae, and makes the tank look very serene. It also lights my fish in a way that really changes their color to a deep hue, making them look almost like different fish. I've only had it in the tank about 1 week, but so far it's great and I'm completely happy. See the attached before and after pictures for the contrast between high lighting, and this light. If you're hoping to light a tank with this, it would have to be 10 gallons or less. Even at 10 gallons, I find it hard to believe that this outputs enough light to really grow any good plants. It may grow some low light plants ok in a smaller tank. Anything bigger than 10 gallons, and this light is basically just accent, or moonphase lighting.

Perfect light for what I'm using it for. Refugium light on the back of aquarium (biocube). As long as surface is clean and you moisten the suction cups then they stay on pretty good. Also submersible so if needed I could just drop the light inside the tank too.

PS, sorry about the crappy picture quality. I'm writing this review at work, and that's the only picture I have on my phone. This was taken in the middle of the day, and it's still plenty bright. Giving this 5 stars for now. The light that came with our tank was horrible, it wasn't sealed well, so the water caused the circuit board to completely fry. So I took it out and I have been using "water proof" LED strips...they work for a few months, but then they start to fall apart, short out and then eventually they go out completely. So this light is my next step. It seems to be very well built and I like that it's rated to be submerged, though I installed it above the water pointing down, I'm hoping this will help it last longer. The cord is thick and good quality. The other lights I used had low quality thin wires that would break down over time, expose the wire then rust. Also this light is very bright, so far we love it!!!

Excellent product at an awesome price! The suction cups are a bit soft/flimsy but once you get them situated they don't fall. Getting the exact right placement can be a challenge though. This unit is installed in a Fluval Edge aquarium which tends to lack sufficient light for the needs of my plants and aesthetic lighting preferences. One feature I really like is the quick disconnect between the plug/switch and the light itself. I don't have to disturb the complex arrangement of electrical plugs to remove the light for cleaning.

I purchased two 18" light kits for my 55gal aquarium. I really like these lights. For the price, they are of very good quality. The light itself is definitely whiter than my previous ones and make the aquarium brighter. Yet the gap between them creates a shade area for the fish to hide in. See the pictures. Hope this helps for someone in doubt.

I have a 6 gallon cylindrical aquarium, so most LEDs for plants are not for this tank because they're designed for "conventional" tanks, but this is exactly right for my aquarium. It came with its own LEDs (many different colors) but I planted live plants and didn't think that the LED that came with the aquarium provided enough light for some of the plants. I looked and looked for a good light that would fit my aquarium, and got one before this - it was a real piece of incredible junk. I consulted a site that said that this Mingdak light was one of the best lights on the market, so I went with it, and I'm very happy that I did. My plants are green as can be, and are doing very well, rooting quickly and waving in the currents created by the filter. I'm very happy with this light - no gimmicks, no extra color lights. It's got a great switch so that you don't have to unplug it, and the thin shape and suction cups are perfect for my aquarium. I'm still waiting for the aquarium to get settled and seasoned before I put my fish into it from their quarantine tank. They're going to think they've moved into a bright mansion. These lights are helping to create a wonderful aquascape for my little friends. The only thing I can say about this light is that the cord on it is a bit on the longish side, but that's not a problem for anyone whose outlets are far away. I have an iSelect outlet tower for all the peripherals for the aquarium that sits right under the Oriental stand on which my aquarium sits. The lights add to the ambience and I can't say enough about it. It is worth every penny and then some. You can't go wrong buying this aquarium light.

I used the 11 inch (30 led) light to replace the incandescent bulb assembly, on my ten gallon tank. Because of my Tetra pump and airstone bubbling water onto the lights of my hood, I did not want a fire risk. Plus, incandescent bulbs look crappy to me. So ordered this product, removed the standard bulb housing, and replaced with this one. So I do not have it submerged, but trust me, these led lights do not get hot. Also, they are not very bright either. They do put off a nice white/blue tint light.

I have a Topfin 5.5 Gallon tank, when I bought some live plants I noticed I needed a way brighter light. I looked into clip on lights, hoods even just going without anything! I figured that I didn’t want to pay 30$ just for a glass hood and a light so I’d try this one. Here are the pro’s and con’s Pros: -Very bright, perfect for plants from low-to medium high -I love how the switch is at the end of the cord. You can reach it much easier -Suction cups are very strong. I have stuck it on the top of my tank where’s there is a bunch of evaporation and water splashing it. Cons: -At the end of the light where the black rubber is, see photos, it is a bit bulky and sticks into my water. Overall a perfect light for my needs! I will be using it as my light from now on! 9/10!
