Oster is my Go to blender!
Hi, Before I get into the review, lemme give you some context so you have an idea of my expertise. I'm on a tube fed diet and have been for most of my life, like since I was 5. I'm now 30. I eat 3 meals a day of a homemade blended mixture of fruit for breakfast n cooked grains with raw veggies for lunch n dinner. Oster is my go to blender brand. I've tried cuisenart once and those things are junk, but I digress PROS Solid all metal drive n high quality parts 10 year warranty on the drive 900 watts powers it's way through food No vibration Easy to clean Can replace the blades without buying a whole cup assembly CON Only real con for me is that I can't get replacement pro series blades locally, which you can get for the regular oster models. However the pro series blades can be found on Osters website NOTES If your blender is leaking it is likely due to not putting it together correctly Make sure you give the blender time to do it's thing, it's not an insta-blender.

Incredible blender for the money
Hey. I've been using blenders for quite some time. Everyday since 3/2011. The first one was a KitchenAid which worked quite well but not fast enough. The second one is a dynablend which I wouldn't recommend to anybody. Had to return it twice because the motor burned out. Burns out again I'm throwing it out. The last blender was an Oster as well but only at 600 watts and didn't really quite cut it for the things that I wanted it to do. But mind you the motor never burned out so I give it that much credit. Now this blender is something a little bit more Superior than anything I've ever had before. For the money and the wattage and the amps you really can't go wrong. Six blades, wide base and glass pitcher had me sold as well. I just tried it out for the first time today. I should buy another one and keep it as a spare. Sure you've got your Vitamix and your Blendtecs out there spinning around so fast they make soup. My concern is the heat reacting with the plastic picture. Plastic is plastic whether it's bpa-free or hex free... it's still plastic. It breaks down and guess where it's going? -Rob

This is a great value
I'm sure you are doing research on what kind of blender or smoothie machine to purchase as I did. Bottom line, for the price on Amazon, I don't think you can beat the Oster Pro 1200.. I do a lot of smoothies with some type of combination of frozen Strawberries, blueberries, pineapples, mango or bananas. I also can add spinach, (i'm not a kale fan) and it comes out absolutely smooth. You have to make sure you have enough liquid such as yogurt, orange juice, coconut mike or almond milk to allow the fruit to move properly in the blender. The settings for the blender are terrific, I just set it for smoothies and walk away since it cycles back and forth for 60 seconds before the cycle is complete. The travel cup is awesome, you simply screw off the base from the blender and screw it onto the travel mug. I hope this helps I very happy with this purchase.

I have 2 favorite products purchased by amazon this year
I have 2 favorite products purchased by amazon this year. This product is one of them, it is amazing. By far the best blender I have ever owned. It crushes Ice for my smoothie and it has a pulse button for when I want to shred foods not mush them, probably because It has a wider blender mouth and larger blade surface contact It does not leak, and clean up is easy- add a drop of soap to hot water and run through as a blender then rinse. I was using a bullet until I purchased this item. I use it 3 times a day for food for a family member who has not teeth and 2 times a day for smoothies. I hesitated buying this because many people said it leaked, but not if put together properly ( see photos below). I am so glad I bought this. If any of you who purchased this want to sell the smoothie cup, sell it on amazon and I will buy it. I could use another cup for I use mine several times a day. In the 1st photo you see the gasket properly placed- on top of the blade- not under the blade. In the 2nd photo you see the gasket pulled up for washing- not it is groved. 3rd photo you see the gasket put back in place, on the blade yet incorrectly posistioned. If you put the gasket in without pushing the groves under the lip of the plastic ring, it will leak) 4th photo- notice the groves are properly tucked under lip of plastic ring- in this way it does not leak.

It's a great blender nonetheless
Plain and simple: this blender saved my life. Just kidding. It's a great blender nonetheless. I love that the pitcher is glass and not plastic. "Screw the Ninja!" - that's my mantra. Just kidding. Wouldn't that be strange if it was? If I just walked around all day saying "Screw the Ninja" to everyone that passed? Joking aside, I was *this* close to getting the Ninja, but the quarterback in my head called an audible and I made a last-minute move towards the Oster BLSTMB-CBG-000 Pro 1200 Blender Plus 24 oz Smoothie Cup. I believe I scored a touchdown. I think you too will score a touchdown if you get yourself one of these.

leaving no remaining bits of the items unblended like our other blenders over the years
Countering a few of the lower rated reviews claiming the blender leaks: you have to place the outer protruding ends of the rubber washer exactly where the vertical lines on the black base indicate; one should align the washer's outer ridges and slide it in between the metal blade part the and black base part. You know you've done it right when the base/blade/washer screws into the pitcher such that the glass knob indicator on the pitcher aligns perfectly with one of the four black columns on the base (see picture attached). Other than that, it blends ice-related items (frozen strawberries, ice cubes and bananas) perfectly, leaving no remaining bits of the items unblended like our other blenders over the years. And 1200 watts is plenty! Crushes everything smoothly. Yes, it is not "quiet": guess what? It's a blender. It's ok if it is somewhat loud for 30 seconds. No one in our family has said anything; it's not like a jet is going by. It's a great blender. The Smoothie mode works awesome as do some of the other pre-programmed settings. It fits in perfectly in our kitchen so we can slide it back and forth underneath our Cabinets. Why some of the higher priced blender have chosen to put suction cups underneath the blender base is beyond me: we returned the Ninja without ever trying it out because it's so large and has these suction cups on it. This is our third blender in 10 years and we finally are completely happy. And lastly, you save $100 - $200 if that means anything to people anymore...Thank you Oster for engineering a great product...

Apparently lots of people noticed poor build quality with Ninja after having used it for ...
I also researched Ninja and Nutribullet before deciding to buy this one. Apparently lots of people noticed poor build quality with Ninja after having used it for a while. Many also complained about poor customer service. This Oster blender has glass container (healthier than the plastic ones on other blenders) and all metal drive (lasts longer). We have used it for about a week now. This thing is loud and power!ful!! We are very happy with the wonderful smoothies we were able to make. Saw other reviewers made peanut butter with it. I tried but the texture is no as smooth as I would like it to be. Maybe I need to add more water to it?

Powerful
This blender is a great cost compromise when considering the blenders from the basic to high end such as a vitamix or similar. It has great power. I have just purchased a second one simply because they are so affordable and I am such a daily smoothie fanatic that I want to have a spare just in case I do something like break the glass jar / pitcher or finally wear out the motor. I have had my first for quite a few months and it is going strong. The glass jar is a plus - I don't want to make my smoothies in plastic, especially because I use MCT oil and this can accelerate chemical leaching from some plastics. The other plus is that it has a large volume capacity! the only reason I rated material quality and durability at a 4 versus a 5 is that I have had to replace the jar base due to it cracking and loosing the ability to make a tight seal. In fairness, I wonder if it has been more vulnerable due to my also using this blender to make a large batch of hot Bulletproof coffee every morning.

Great Blender. Almost Perfect.
Over the past several months I have looked at a LOT of blenders. First let me say that I am soooo happy that I found this blender. I originally wanted to buy the Oster Pro 500 (which is the next model down from this one). However Amazon and Costco were out of it. While we’re on the subject of blender models, there are TWO versions of this blender. One has a Shatterproof Boroclass® glass jar, and the other one has a triton plastic jar. Get the one with the glass jar because triton plastic has been linked to health issues (even though the manufacture claims otherwise). The side of the glass jar has measuring marks on the side, which is a nice touch. I primarily wanted to use a blender to make smoothies when I juice. I looked at the vitamix, blendtec, and many other high-end blenders but their high cost did not necessarily give me better mixing performance. This blender has a metal drive system, high power cool-running motor, and stainless steel blades, just like the vitamax and blendtec use, but you could buy ten of these blenders for the cost of one of those. Another nice feature of this blender is that the blades are around twice as big as other blender blades. When you add-on the 1200 watt motor to those larger blades you can easily see how it blends so well and so quickly. This blender has one important feature that none of the other blenders have, and it’s called a dual-direction motor. Typically when you blend something chunks of what you’re blending get caught in the bottom of the jar and they don’t mix or blend well. This is why many blenders need to be ‘pulsed’. When you turn this blender on it’s smart enough to know this, and the motor changes direction 4 or 5 times every 10 seconds when you first turn it on. In this day and age all blenders should have this smart and useful feature. Since I will be using this blender everyday (sometimes several times a day) cleaning is kind of a big deal to me. I am happy to report that this blender is very easy to clean. A neat feature is that the blenders filler cap can be used as a 2 oz measuring cup, and a tool to tighten the jars bottom. It looks great in my kitchen. Oster says it’s a brushed nickel finish. I say it’s closer to a chromed stainless steel look to it. The picture makes it look like the base has a matte finish, but ours is gloss (chromed). Yes the 1200 watt motor is loud, but all blenders with big motors are loud. It’s not real bad, but if you’re looking for a blender to use while the baby is asleep then look for one with a much smaller motor than this one has. This blender has 7 speeds and many programmed controls for one button ease, but it also has manual controls and pulse controls. Each button has its own L.E.D. function light. There is also a food processor accessory which I will purchase later. I love that it comes with a smoothie cup which attaches directly to the blender base. This way you can make your smoothie in the cup that you’ll drink from, and won’t have to get other cups dirty. The power cord is around 16” long. This blender has a 10 year metal drive warranty. The other parts have a 3 year warranty. The manufactures website had this blender for 55.00, and it’s the best 55.00 that I’ve spent in a long time. The only thing that I don’t like about this blender is that the 24 oz. smoothie cup is plastic, and not glass like the jar, but I can deal with that since the rest of the blender is so nice. Still, I wish they offered a glass smoothie cup as an option.

This blender is great so far
This blender is great so far! I have used a Vitamix before and this thing does the job just as well, if not better. The smoothie cup is useful. The blade is easy to attach and detach. I would say the top to the smoothie cup could be improved. Also, if anyone is on the fence about the food processor attachment, I wouldn't bother. The blender itself has a chopping setting that works just fine.
