Cheap price but awesome product!
I was very indecisive about buying this product after reading reviews about how it's poorly made. I was afraid it wouldn't be able to hold my canon t3i, but for the price I said why not and so far I'm loving it! I also love the fact that it comes with its own bag. Does the job, it's nothing fancy(which I didn't really care for anyways). Definitely would recommend this to my friends!!

Affordable, Light Weight Tripod
With the purchase of my first DSLR camera, I wanted a cheap tripod to learn on. I was able to add this AmazonBasics 50-Inch Lightweight Tripod to my order for the low price of $13.96. I do quite a bit of hiking, camping, and other outdoor sports. I wanted something lightweight that wasn’t too pricey. This fit perfectly. I purchased this tripod in July of 2017, so I have had quite a bit of time to test it. I have used this tripod in many outdoor settings now, but my favorite was using it to take photos of the solar eclipse from Wyoming in August 2017. I have a Nikon D3400 camera and typically use either my 18-55 lens or my 70-300 lens. If you are looking for an affordable starter camera, I am very happy with this camera set-up and tripod and would recommend it. I am definitely not a professional, though. This tripod has quite a bit of range in adjustment, and is fairly easy to adjust but could be smoother. The legs extend in three sections with locks. Fully extended, it can be a little unsteady, so I would recommend staying slightly under if you are in a windy or unstable area. The head is able to turn up and down as well as side to side. The plate the camera sits on can be rotated between landscape and portrait mode with the camera still attached, which I found to be a convenient feature. This tripod also has a quick release feature and a level, both of which can be very handy. I found all of these features to be great for the price. The tripod comes with a zippered bag. This bag fits the tripod perfectly and it is easy to put away. The bag has a strap that is not uncomfortable but could have a little more padding. The strap shortens to be a handheld strap length, or doubles in size to wear on your shoulder. All together, the tripod in the bag roughly one and a quarter pounds which is great for the price. I have taken the tripod on quite a few lengthy hikes without it being an issue. Overall, I would recommend this tripod if you are a beginner looking for a cheaper tripod, or if you need a lightweight tripod. If you need more stability, I would look for something else.

Great value!
Is this a professional tripod and will I use it when it is windy? No. But I can use it inside, easily on tabletops, etc. I will probably hook a carabiner and my camera bag to the middle for added stability if it IS windy, but this folds up nicely and it will travel easily.

Amazingly light, and works well for specific occasions
First off, I own a Gitzo tripod that costs many, many times what I paid for this tripod. However, you can't always carry a heavy tripod/ballhead on your expeditions. I bought this to take on a Grand Canyon rafting trip. It is light, relatively sturdy (unless it is windy), and held my DSLR (Canon 7d) with a wide angle lens. I used it solely for astrophotography during the quiet evening hours. I got some great Milky Way shots, which required 30 second exposures. Using a remote shutter cable, I was able to get several tack-sharp photos of the stars. I think the larger version would be even more convenient to use, as I had to stoop a bit to compose my shots with this model. Also, I'm not sure it would securely hold a DSLR with a telephoto (70-200 or 100-400 zoom) The controls are crude, but work, and nothing broke. I'll find more uses for this tripod in the future. Amazing how light this tripod is!

Inexpensive, well designed, well made
This is a well made piece of equipment. It can be set at one foot high or a little over three feet high or anywhere in between. It can hold a camera, I understand, as it has a universal nut to attach almost all currently made equipment to the platform with that nut. I use it to record live music in mid-sized rooms. It has a leveler on it, a bubble in a tube, which seems totally superfluous to what most people would use this for. I mean we are not leveling footings for high tech equipment! But the inclusion of the leveler says something about the attention to design: it's well designed, easy to use, handy, quick, and made of good material that will last, even though the fittings and connections are plastic. It also comes with a carrying case, which makes it easy to carry and protects its fine parts in transit. And it is exceedingly inexpensive; I paid less than fifteen dollars for it.

One Minor Setup Adjustment and This Tripod is Excellent
I read other reviews that correctly state the flimsy nature of this tripod when fully extended for maximum height. Here's a tip for significantly improving stability -- first, fully extend each leg section; then, push the section exactly one inch back into the larger section and lock it. You will lose 3 inches in height (47" vs. 50") , but the tripod will now be very stable with little or no wobble. I'm very happy with these tripods (I bought 4 of them). Great value for the price, imho. Recommended.

This little guy is just what I was looking for
I'm a retired professional photographer and I have a number of high-end tripods, some of which cost 20 times more than this little guy. But those tripods are overkill for my little smart phone, and they definitely won't fit in my motorcycle saddlebags. This little guy is just what I was looking for: compact when folded up, quick to set up and collapse, and reasonably stable for a light camera. And a bonus is the quick-release camera shoe, like the expensive tripods have. A must-have feature is modern cam lever adjusters on each leg. If you've ever struggled with knurled screw adjusters you'll know why this tripod's adjusters are the way to go. How they build all these great features into an inexpensive tripod, and then threw in a nice case for this kind of money is a mystery to me. No, it won't handle the abuse nor the weight of a professional tripod, but it doesn't cost $200 either!

Astonishingly good value
I bought this tripod expecting it to be a "good enough" product for the low price. The height was important to me, but - other than that - as long as it held my camera, I expected to be happy. When it arrived, the quality was far better than I'd expected. It's sturdy, and includes lots of ways to adjust the angle (and height) of the tripod, to get that "just so" photo or video. In addition, I'm using it with a wooden box designed as a portable (plein air) easel. That's one reason I needed a tripod with a good, tall option. And, I hoped it'd be sturdy enough to support the box, my paints, my brushes, my palette, and a medium-small canvas. This tripod is a winner on all counts, and delivers everything I needed... and more. I'd expected to buy this and - when I planned to take more photos/videos - buy something more expensive (figuring a pricier tripod would be better quality). Now, I have no reason to replace this tripod. The quality is easily as good as tripods I've paid two or three times more for, and I expect this one to last at least as long as they did.

Excellent value.
Make no mistake...this is a compact, lightweight tripod and probably not suited for everyday use. But for the price it's an incredible value as an emergency/casual use tripod you can throw in your trunk or tuck inside a suitcase when traveling. Handle it with care -- it's not especially rugged --, don't use the center column (which turns the head into an upside-down pendulum), and use your camera bag or another weight to keep it steady, and this tripod will serve you well for that selfie or slightly long exposure that calls for an immobile platform. It has a panhead with a flip-sideways hinge for quick switching to vertical, quick leg locks, and comes with a storage bag. If you need quick-release plate; don't use the built-in version; it's plastic, flimsy, and if you lose it you won't be able to replace it. Instead get yourself a Manfrotto-style plate and platform or a small Arca-Swiss combo (either of which will cost you many times the price of this tripod!) This tripod would be best used with mirrorless cameras or small dSLRs like the Nikon D3400/D5600, Canon EOS Rebel SL2 or T6. It would make a serviceable tabletop tripod, too. Again, you'll want a taller, sturdier tripod for everyday use. I carry my Gitzo Traveler (about $600) when I am flying to my destination, and keep a larger carbon-fiber tripod in the trunk of my car when I am driving. But this one is convenient to have on hand for occasional use, or as a spare and you can't beat the price.

This exactly what I needed! 5 stars!
I bought this for my cameras because we had our first child in May 2016.. and I wanted to be able to get great photos and video of baby without dealing with blurry shots from shaking or moving. It's full height is 50 inches. Great for taking family photos, or Volging. all three sections have locks.. and you can even lock the legs in between the actual length of the legs for the perfect height you need. I LOVE how compact and lightweight it is!! Easy for travel on trips, parties, and stores well! The Quick-Release Plate makes it easy to remove the camera if you need to hurry and set up somewhere else. It does not wobble. It is a wonderful product and you really can't beat this price for the quality. I would recommend this product to anyone wanting to invest in a tripod.
