These are great. Got them for my 4 and 5 yr old boys to help with pre-k. They have learned a lot and the tutorials are great. I like this for learning to write as opposed to iPad apps because they have to hold a pen, not use their fingers. CON: the rope attaching pen to the pad is SHORT. My 5 yr old is a lefty and could not use the pen because it was too short to reach to his left hand. I wound up cutting them both which stinks because I’m constantly searching for the pens. VTech could definitely make slightly longer ropes

You CANNOT go wrong with this one! My 3 year old daughter plays with this constantly. She draws pictures all day, and loves that she can draw and then erase, and then draw again. I love that I'm not going through REAMS of paper and worrying about having to have crayons ready all the time. The most fantastic part of this toy (apart from the art aspect) is that she is REALLY learning her ABC's and how to write them properly. The screen gives exceptional directions on how to form each letter, and goes slow enough for a little one to follow the instructions. She is working on writing her name, which can be programmed in for the child. As a former kindergarten teacher, I believe every preschooler should have one of these. It's an invaluable resource toy that is great for any child coming into those early reading years. So very pleased with this purchase!

My daughter, 22mth old, really enjoys this educational toy. Although she does not yet know how to operate its more specific functions, she already can turn it off or on, write/draw, and use the magnets and ABC slider to erase her drawings. She will spend up to an hour over the course of the day using this toy and it has given her the confidence to use her crayons and paper to draw freehand. The one thing I dislike is that the writing pad is not very secure. My daughter does not know that she should not lean on the board and her doing so, separates the board from the frame but this is only at the bottom. IF there is a way to make it much more secure, I hope VTech will consider. I have already resigned myself to purchasing another one if she breaks it as a result of this.

I bought this because I wanted an alternative to a tablet. So far, 3 months later my baby and toddler still love this learning tool/toy. It is good for creativity as well. We have practiced shapes and letters and enjoyed drawing contests too. No mess drawing is another bonus. The only thing is that my 18 month old figured out how to take the batteries out somehow? Well it's a push latch so its not impossible. I see us having and using this learning center for a long time.

If you get a working one of these which we were fortunate to get it's pretty good. The volume is low and not adjustable and the battery slot is easy to open which l like but could be a hazard for younger or disabled children... The cord feels just a touch short but still usable. It would be difficult for a left hander but not impossible. A spare pen from an old board would solve that issue. Other than that it's a good drawing board. The electronic component does serve to challenge the beginner in letter recognition and writing. The voice is pleasant and clear in directions. There's a slot in the back that holds stencils in place. Ours was snug enough to hold them in place but still easy enough for my child to take out or return neatly. The board wipes clean for us and was easy and enjoyable to erase with. My child was smiling using this board and was trying to write letters without looking miserable which to me was a win. I did sit in and explain how to use it. I also stuck around to assist with the letter writing techniques. Which went better than the plain paper experience for us. My impression of this drawing board is that it serves as a great set of training wheels for the reluctant beginner and children that are interested in a little extra entertainment in their learning curriculum. We can snuggle up on the sofa or in bed and do these together or it can be used in the car on long rides. We took it to Grandmas to show off progress. I found the stamp tools useful for simple math as well. Over all we are happy with this purchase!

I am extremely happy with this purchase! Toddler loves it. I saw some reviews talking about the two magnet shapes not having a place to hold them in, but on the one we got, they snap in and are secure. So, idk what that's about. Another review complained that it talks too much and it's annoying. Well, you don't have to turn that top part that talks on and it has a volume control. It's not loud at all, even as loud as it will go. It's really nice either way, whether you turn it on or not. The erase bar was another thing I saw people complain about but we have had no issue at all with it. It seems very nice quality. It slides across with no issue. We have had no problems the past couple months we've had it. No toy is safe with super destructive, out of control children. 😛😝

4 year old son loves it. Works well. No issues with pen cord length or anything here. Quality made and sturdy plastic. Wipes clean with a slightly damp cloth and is durable. Sometimes in the past I have noticed these type of drawing surfaces get dented and don't work well. This one seems to be really sturdy and you would have to be pretty rough with it to hurt it any. I bought from Amazon Warehouse Deals and it was listed as used but it came new in package and working right out of the box. I would recommend this toy to any child who is interested in drawing or learning the letters and how to write them. Voice is a pleasant male who I especially liked as this was for my son and most toys have a female voice. Put in my son's name and second day my son was already writing the letters along with the voice and animated screen for his name. This is a boy who seemed to have no interest in writing any letters when I got him special pens, paper and even stickers. That is pretty awesome to me!

This is a great toy for a little kid especially for our child who is less than 2 years old and English is not our native language. She learns a lot when play with it and now she can recognize more than half of the 26 letters. Every night before go to bed, she will pronounce a number from 1 to 10 or a letter, then asks us to write it on the board. I just made another order on it and will use it as a white elephant gift for a kids gathering. Highly recommend it!

We have been teaching our 4 year old her alphabet and wanted to start teaching her how to write the letters. This is an awesome and fun learning tool. She loves it. She doesn't want to learn using a pencil and paper and won't try very hard that way. With this, she actually enjoys it, focuses on her letters, and tries really hard to draw them correctly. The best part is you can easily program the child’s name into it and it teaches them how to write their name letter by letter. It's also a really fun tool to teach them how to draw mess free. So far with a months worth is use, it clears perfectly with an easy swipe of the knob thing. When looking for a similar items in a few stores, the other versions were smaller with much smaller writing/drawing area. This one is just perfect. The only drawbacks are the pen cord is a little too short. The pen can reach to the opposite edge of the drawing section, but that's it. Would be nice for an extra inch of so of cord. Also when the electronic part is turned on, if you don't hit any buttons after about 2-3 minutes, it automatically shuts off. That's not enough time when a preschooler is just learning each letter. It's great that you can draw or write on it without turning it on. Highly recommend for any preschooler learning how to write.

This "magnadoodle", as I call it, has been wonderful for engaging both my 5-year old son and 1-year old daughter in writing and drawing. There are learning interactive modes that require my son to follow the directions to write his letters and musical modes that play music when my daughter writes with the pen. It also comes with shape magnets and stencils. There are so many different ways you can use this for learning and play. I highly recommend this if you're looking for this type of toy.
