I bought it for doing pictures and videos with my iPhone 6 while snorkeling on vacation. I performed the 30 minute test in the sink putting some dishes on top to keep at the bottom and it went fine. I could keep it casually in my shorts' pocket while walking waist deep in water and feel safe against theft concerns at the beach. Does as advertised, but I wish there was a small compartment for storing my ID and some cash though. Very happy, will use it for skiing as well. TIPS FOR SNORKELING: It handles seawater without issues. Just like without it, touching the screen when underwater does no reaction, my advice is to "prepare" the iPhone by launching the Camera app first above water, and then only go underwater, whereafter the volume buttons do the actual photo shots. Switching from/to video mode easily must be done above water and requires more preparation because tapping on screen while wet is fine but swiping for unlock is almost impossible, so this is what I did: 1. remove my code for unlock 2. Go to AssistiveTouch settings 3. add a new gesture which swipes right and call it "Swipe" 4. Add it in the AssistiveTouch menu 5. Enable AssistiveTouch Then, to easily access my phone while in water, I go to the surface, wait for water to drool away (shake if necessary), and press the AssistiveTouch button, select my "Swipe" gesture, which shows a dark circle, tap that and it unlocks. Then I tap my Camera app and tap the "VIDEO" word to switch mode (no need to actually swipe). Then again go underwater because the volume buttons start/stop the videos.

Why I bought it: I bought this case to replace an earlier model Lifeproof case that was more than a year old and was no longer waterproof. What I love about this case: I spend a lot of time walking outdoors and commuting by transit bus, and the iPhone 6/6S is hopelessly slipery. It's almost impossible to use outdoors without eventually dropping it, and when you drop it, the front glass is guaranteed to shatter. This case fixes both of those problems: it has a rubbery raised edge that's easy to hold, and my phone won't break if I drop it on pavement. When I removed my old, scuffed and damaged Lifeproof case to install this one, my iPhone looked exactly like new inside. What's improved since 2015: My original Lifeproof case worked only with the original Apple-issued Lightning cable, which would fit snugly in the charging port. My AmazonBasics Lightning cable would not fit. This new 2016 version has a larger charging port that is sized for the larger AmazonBasics Lightning plug instead of the smaller Apple Lightning plug. Key Disadvantage: The microphone is muffled when using this case. It is necessary to wear the phone's EarPods (or talk very loudly) when taking calls with the case on.

Love it. My child has broken countless devices. Screens don't last but a month before my child has a crack in them. We bought this case after the last phone ended up cracked to the point we HAD to break down and repair it. Ever since this case, not a single crack. Oh, and my child has dropped the phone . . . COUNTLESS times since we've gotten this case. Despite all the abuse my childs phone has endured, this case as prevailed! We've had countless other brands in the past - Speck, Otterbox. . but for this child. . .this child will never have another device unless it is covered in a Lifeproof case. Amazing.

Been through a lot of cases. Before this, I tried one of the cheap water-resistant ones. Hated how it took away the "snap" of pushing the buttons, and the screen cover was about as fun as touching the screen with gloves on. Not this guy. Button push and switches are crisp. Touchscreen is AAALmost perfect - close enough that I don't mind it at all. Feel of the case is awesome. Just rubbery enough to be easy to grab and a little slip-resistant, but not so gummy it turns my pockets inside out. Huge improvement from the lifeproof case I had years ago on an iPhone 4.

The performance of a phone case needs to be balanced against the use that the manufacturer warrants it for, versus what you subject it to. Some people are unhappy with this product because "it didn't work for them" because they abused it beyond what the manufacturer stated it could do. I am now on my fifth Lifeproof FRE case, all with three different model iPhones. I subject my phone to what I would call "medium/reasonable wear". I probably drop my phone about once a month onto a hard surface, 1-4 feet. No breaks, no screen cracks. I'm picking the charging port open 2-4 times a day. I probably make 5-10 calls a day and send 20-40 texts per day. I clean it at least a few times a month, often with a Windex-type product since the weak screen cleaners are a joke. No case can take any and all abuse or wear. Even with normal daily wear, any case including a LIfeproof case eventually needs to be replaced. This is the cost of "living with your cell phone". Better to replace the case before it breaks than replace the phone after it breaks. But a Lifeproof FRE case provides a good balance of weight and protection and usability. It isn't a brick, and it isn't a skin. Lifeproof product design, overall, as a company is a little boring; it could use the input of some creatives to add color and pattern schemes and accessories like a credit card holder or better ways to carry a phone than in a pocket or with a clunky belt clip. I use their belt clip sometimes, and the phone gets torn out of the locked case too easily while getting into car doors. I acknowledge the weakness of the design in the area of the charging port, where the plastics get very thin and are too easily torn by a fingernail. This could be improved, as could the setting of the gasket in the door of the charging port; it come out too easily. Nevertheless, several purchases of this case, within the boundaries of reasonable, as well as the same case used by fellow employees, have served us well for several years. This has saved my phone many times from breakage and water destruction. This case works well for me, and I'll continue to update with a new case every 6-9 months.

So there I was having a bonfire with my family and burning a lot of brush and tember we've been clearing. My little girl decided to use my flashlight and I decided to use my phone as a light. I had my hands full of sticks and my phone for the light and as I went to the the sticks into the fire (mind you I know it sounds silly now) I managed to drop my phone into the got red coals. My phone sat there for a solid 10 seconds before I could flick it out with a stick. Well the life proof case did its job and protected my phone. Emailed the company and they sent me a brand new case no questions asked! Hell yeah 5 star product.

Y'all, I drop my phone a lot. A. Lot. At least once every other day. My iphone 6 is two years old, I got it in July of 2016, and bought my first FRE case (black) at the same time. The case itself lasted me until about a couple weeks ago, when the edges started to very slightly come apart when I dropped it, the rubberized paneling was beginning to peel away, could no longer easily navigate the bumpers marking the side buttons, etc. But my phone doesn't have a single scratch on it. Looks like I just walked off the factory floor with it. These cases are amazing. Small disclaimer: I haven't tested the water-proof function, but where I'm at in my life, I only really need it to be splash-proof. On my original store-bought model, just like with a few other reviewers, the cover over the home button did eventually come off -- but not before I got a solid year and a half of perfect condition out of it. My case arrived in the original packaging, unopened, and stocked with a warranty paper, a screen wiper, and even a little headphone adapter for the screw cover over the headphone jack! They ARE verified Lifeproof cases, at least the one I purchased was. Highly recommend.

Great case, lasted me a long time. Have been a longtime user of lifeproof and you really cant beat the quality. Only downside is if you use this case daily, expect it to look like crap a year or so later. By the time I was done with this (upgraded phone) it had chunks missing from the corners and the screen protector was so scuffed that it impaired the viewing. Also the vinyl for the finger print scanner, the flash cover and the plastic lens over your camera lense - were all popping out and had to be repositioned frequently - probably was no longer waterproof at that point. Will probably try a catalyst case next time though. Smokers/campers beware - the rubber on this case absorbs any smokey smell you might be around and then will be impossible to remove. Just being around a friend who smokes while having my phone out, would cause me to get random whiffs of stale cigarettes from my phone case.

Initially thought it was a fake because of a few reviews I read after purchase. Looked up the serial number via their website and did not match. Was really pissed. Spoke with the people at LifeProof and apparently the serial number search only applies to certain models...why not say so on the website lifeproof?... customer service was otherwise extreamly helpful. I was on hold for a very short time. They made sure it was the real deal. I also compared it with a friend that bought it directly from Lifeproof. Identical other than color. Bonus points: fingerprint works, all the buttons work including the volume on off switch, waterproof headphone jack connection included, no bubbles under the screen protector, fits my non apple usb cord, not boxy and fits in my pocket at the pool and otherwise. Also when you play music over the speakerphone it sounds louder, similar to the effect of putting your phone into an empty bowl. To note: the cover for the charging port sticks a little. It does this to keep a tight seal. It was tough to open the first few times until I figured it out. Now it’s easy. LifeProof FRE for my iPhone 6s

I love my lifeproof case. It has stood the test of time again and again. I'm very rough on my phones. I had an otterbox defender case a few years back and my phone shattered from a 2 ft fall on the front and back of the phone (iPhone 4s) and I decided to get my money back from otterbox and put the money towards a lifeproof case. And boy I'm glad I did. It was the best investment I've made for my phone. I'm constantly working on cars, dropping my phone, forgetting it's in my pocket when I go swimming, and my case has saved it many times. My phone has been run over twice by a 4000lb car, dropped off of a second story deck twice, countless drops from chest height, fallen in the river, dropped into three gallons of automotive oil, thrown at the wall, even accidentally dropped it on a turbo that had an outside temp of 260 degrees and my case has protected it every single time. It's been a year and a half and I finally have to buy a new one, but only because my ringer/silence button on the left side of my iPhone is wearing out and is no longer water proof after a few minutes. Am I complaining about having to buy another after a year and a half of constant abuse? No way! Because the price of two cases over 18 months is way cheaper than having to buy multiple screen replacements or phone replacements. If I could give more than five stars I would. Lifeproof has a customer for life here. Thank you guys for making such a reliable and amazing product 🙏
