Best dog brush of this type I've ever found

Hairless with a press of your thumb!
This one doesn't scrape our dog like some of the other ones, and it's probably the easiest to take hair out with the press of the button of any dog brushes we have ever owned. Our dog has thick hair so I tried using this while bathing him which was successful but very difficult to pull through his hair so I waited till he was somewhat dry and it went through like a breeze! Pros: Great product, love the functionality (By far the best hair release mechanism I've used), the dog enjoys it as opposed to some of the other brush/combs I have used in the past. I couldn't get a picture of him while I was using it, but I posted one so at least you can visualize the thickness of his hair!

Not as effective as the Furminator, but more comfortable for the pet and user friendly.
Disclaimer - I'm a veterinarian, so I know way too much about different brushes and grooming implements. I have always had a love-hate relationship with slicker brushes... love because they're effective and comfortable, and HATE because they are the absolute biggest pain in the butt to clean, especially without damaging the thin bristles, or bending them in such a way that they poke the animal uncomfortably. Now, I have a longhaired senior cat who has twice had to go under anesthesia for removal of massive hairballs. The last time, he received an Rx for a haircut from his Internal Medicine specialist. So we have been on an intensive hair management program - but he hates being brushed. So I'm constantly going through various brushes and combs. My go-to is the Furminator, but my main gripes with it are that it is uncomfortable for the cat (pulls his skin excessively at times) and its blades, even on the long-hair version, fill up with nearly every swipe. It is easy to clean, but when I have a squirming, annoyed cat in one hand, it is difficult to be constantly cleaning the blade out. But it absolutely pulls the most shed hair and undercoat with each swipe. This brush is 10x more comfortable for my cat, while still pulling a decent amount of shed hair. Cleaning it is AMAZING - just press the button, pull the pad of hair off, and it doesn't fill up until after nearly a full session of brushing. It is not taking off as much hair as the Furminator, but the fact that he doesn't get instantly annoyed and thus I can brush for longer and create a more positive experience for him is important.

A miracle for my long-haired cat
This is an upgrade from any other pet grooming brush I have ever owned. I never expected such a great product from a great company when spontaneously ordering a flash deal, but to my surprise this has exceeded my expectations beyond belief. Having a long-haired cat who is OCD about cleaning herself, and it being shedding season, I am very happy that I made the decision to get this. She even runs toward me when she hears it click, which is something she has never done before, and this brush removes so much more fur than any other owned. I am hoping this will lessen her struggle with hairballs and I have nothing negative to say about this product-definitely get it!

SO MUCH CAT HAIR, if cat fur were a valuable commodity, it wouldn't be long before Forbes mentions me.
I brushed off enough cat hair to have another cat. I would recommend this brush if you want to brush your fur babies bald. It won't actually ever happen, them being bald, but it is so satisfying to see that fur pile up next you as you spend 30 minutes brushing your cat or dog. I'm starting to think Porkins doesn't even have any skin, she must be made entirely of fur as it NEVER ENDS. She's completely passed out now from all the brushing, she loved it. The push button to retract the bristles is fantastic and makes for easy clean up! Totally worth every penny, and I'm sure Porkins would agree as well, if she understood the basic concept of monetary values.

Where has this been all my life?!
Where has this thing been all my life?! I shall begin by saying that I am a cat lover. Have owned many cats over my lifetime. Many are/were long-haired. For years I have been using various slicker brushes to keep shedding hair at bay. While they work very well, the worst part of using them is that you have to pick all the hair out of the brush after use. Yich! So, recently, when I was looking for a new slicker brush for my cat, I came across this one by Hertzko. When it arrived I was a little displeased that it was bigger than brushes I have used in the past. I also wasn't a fan of the purple color. However, as I pressed down the button at the top of the handle and watched the brush needles appeared out of nowhere, I became quite intrigued. Then I began brushing my cat. The brush picked up huge clumps of shedding hair from the cat's body. Meanwhile, my cat purrr'd in delight of the action. It was good to know that this brush was not hurting her. But here's the best part of the experience.... I simply pressed the button on top of the handle --- the needles/wires disappeared back into the brush --- and a mound of hair fell to the floor. No more manually cleaning the brush. No more picking out hair from the needles/wires. I have never used something like this before, and I have to tell you, it's quite amazing. Terrific cat comb. It really makes the combing process much more enjoyable for you and your cat.

Cat owner: On the fence? Give it a shot!
My cat has short hair, but a thick undercoat. I have tried other types of brushes and they don't get much hair at all. Now, I KNOW this cat sheds cause when I go to pet him, it's like a puff of hair in the air. I was on Amazon and found this one and thought I'd give it a try and I am SO glad I did! I brush him 2-3x a day and I always find a good amount on the brush. I didn't think I would care that it was self cleaning, but it is seriously the best feature about this brush. So easy! He loves how it feels and I love how it works. I do have another cat who doesn't care for it, but she is picky about everything, so oh well! Haha! It is worth a try cat owners!

The dogs will stand in line for this!
This is a quality product and my dogs really enjoy the brushings. The mechanism that retracts the bristles is the best I've encountered on a brush like this. It is sturdy, good quality and the plastic frame/button are more dense (sturdy) than lesser quality products. The button mechanism spring (or however it works under the button) is reliable, it works every time and doesn't stick. The mechanism fully retracts the bristles, which also are robust and good quality. The individual bristle diameter seems to be thicker than the bristles of like products. Also, the mechanism locks the bristles in place every time, whereas with past similar products the locking mechanism malfunctions and doesn't lock the bristles in or out. Also on similar, previously purchased brushes, I've experienced the bristles turning in various directions after initial use, which ultimately can scratch the dog and make fully retracting the bristles impossible. When the brush comes out now, the dogs line up for a brushing and one patiently waits while the other is being brushed. Since I absolutely cannot bear to leave my fur babies outside, this brush helps me limit the amount of loose fur (and necessary cleaning) that comes inside with them. Initially, I combed about six full brushes of fur from each dog, but now a daily brushing culls one full brush per dog. (Kinda grosses me out to think that much fur was coming inside with them!) The dogs show me where they want to be brushed by strategically moving during the brushing. One caution...keep the brush head flat...if it's angled, I think the bristles hurt the dog's skin. The dogs act like they're getting a massage when the bristles are flat on their skin...I'm kinda jealous. Also, use only light pressure when brushing dog bellies; heavy pressure may hurt them. I liked this brush so much, I bought one for my sister's Corgi and it works like a charm...that dog sheds like crazy. He's now maneuvering to maximize his "massage" too. Since the weather was bad at her house, I brushed him inside. There were a few loose hairs on the carpet when I was done, and I just used the brush to comb them off the carpet; again when the brush head is flat, it applies pressure evenly, so the brush didn't even snag the carpet. The back-tilted bristles very effectively captured the loose fur from the carpet. I definitely recommend this brush!

Love, love this brush!
My dog sleeps while I brush him. I have Arthritis and the handle is easy to grab. Easy to clean, just push button and is clean!
