Feisty little beast...
What can you say about an orbital sander that hasn't already been said? Not much, if they work as well as this little champ. Besides making quick work of finishing a piece I was assembling, it does a remarkable job of collecting sawdust, better than any other power tool I've owned or used (I have a track saw and two routers that provide for dust collection, and none of them collect dust as well as this little Dewalt.). It's small, light, and feisty, and does what it's supposed to do.

I purchased this for my husband for Father's Day. He has used it twice so far and he loves it. He said it works so well it's almost effortless. He had a cheap one before this and was always frustrated by sanding. He now wants things to sand. He said he has down two good projects and hasn't even gone through one sheet of sand paper. Great purchase.

Easy peasy!
I had such difficulties with my Ryobi. My arms ached after I used it, it took so much muscle to keep it from jumping all over the place and I went through sandpaper so fast. After using my new Dewalt I realize my Ryobi never worked. The ball bearings must have been broken from day one. By comparison, the Dewalt is quieter, easier to control and sandpaper goes a long way. The little catch bag snaps on and doesn't fall off all the time the way it did on my old circular sander. Its easy to find sandpaper on Amazon or any hardware store that fits. I love using this sander.

Redoing my deck. Very pleased. I have a Makita I like this one more. The variable speed is wonderful. It is also shorter than my makita which makes getting under the handrails much easier. Last comparison to the makita is the pad on this is half the price and you can find it in actual stores such as lowes and home depot where the Makita you can not find in stores and estimated 5 days shipping on the pads. (I am not talking the sanding discs but the backer pads)

Nice Sander!
Just what I needed to complete some honey-do projects! Used this to smooth out some raised grain on a power-washed deck - made the job easier and much quicker than I expected. I ordered a pack of replacement discs with the sander - good idea, because I had refills on hand and didn't need to stop and go buy more.

Wonderful Sander and How to Improve
This is a great sander. My main reason for posting a review is so that I can show what I did to make a DIY vacuum connection. I went to the local big box home improvement store and found a drain & trap connector. It is made by American Valve and is made to go from 2" to 1 1/2". It also comes with hose clamps which are needed. Just attach the 1 1/2" side to the sander (its a bit snug but it will go on) and the larger side to a typical 2" shop vac hose. And the sander with the attached fitting fits in the storage bag with no problem. This solution is much more economical than purchasing the Dewalt adapter.

Held up to 6 days of wet grinding
I used this to grind down concrete countertops for an outdoor kitchen. This was not an easy undertaking. The 8,000 PSI countertop mix is pretty much hard as nails and I spent hours with each grit to get it down to the layer I wanted. After days of wet grinding, this little sander was still kicking. That was the reason I went with a Dewalt. I knew it would take the abuse. After the 3rd day of continuous grinding I started to wonder if it would give out, but it gave no signs of letting up. I used it long enough for most of the little hooks on the bottom of the pad to break off. But that was the only thing that wore out the whole time. I have been slowly switching my tools over to Dewalt and after seeing what this thing was capable of, I am a happy customer.

Quality, value, function met/exceeded my expectations.
I spent a lot of time researching random orbital sanders to use on shaping/finishing walking sticks and canes as well as some other flatter surface work. I chose the DeWalt based on technical specs, comparative reviews, and my experience with DeWalt products. I’m not disappointed. I’m sure there are others that would work and may cost a bit less, but I dont’ think you will find any better. I’m using for prolonged periods of time (30 minutes) with many starts and stops. It is relatively ergonomic for one or two hand use. Yes, it has some weight to it, but not too much....if you let the unit do the work, the weight is an advantage. For dust collection, I simply use an old C-P flexible hose attached to a shop vacuum. You can really see the dust pulled into the sander, even with the dust collector bag on it so there is minimal dust produced (still wear a dust mask!). Very happy with the purchase.

Variable speed is more useful than I expected
Before getting this, I had the non-variable speed version of this orbital sander which I love. It's comfortable, works well, and was affordable. This variable speed version came in a tool pack. When I found I had the option to return just this portion and keep the tool pack, I almost did since I already had the non-variable speed version, but after using it for a while, I think variable speed is way more useful than I expected it to be, and I am happy to be keeping it. If I do scroll saw work, I can sand it on a slower speed without fear of pieces breaking. If I'm sanding a softer wood, it works a lot better to use a medium speed. When I'm buffing and polishing, a slower speed makes a huge difference in getting an even better shine. It has the same comfortable grip as the non-variable speed version as well, and is equally as good with vibration dampening. I had the porter cable version which makes my hand red and itchy after a while since it is not as good with vibration dampening. I highly recommend this orbital sander.

Fantastic, Small Orbital Sander; Must Have for DIY'er
I'm your average weekend warrior do-it-yourselfer and my wife asked me to refinish our wooden address sign recently. Now we inherited the address sign with the home when we purchased it and I'd estimate probably 30-ish years of painting and repainting caked onto that sign. After hitting it with some coarse sandpaper to get an idea of what I was working with I clearly needed the help of a mechanical sander. Enter the Dewalt DWE6423K Variable Speed Random Orbit Sander. ►Setup: There's not a lot to set up once you unbox this small orbital sander. Remove a bit of cardboard, glance over the small instruction booklet, undo a twisty tie and you're basically done. You'll, of course, need to purchase some compatible sandpaper; I purchased DEWALT DW4303 5-Inch 8-Hole 120-Grit Hook-and-Loop Random Orbit Sandpaper (5-Pack) and DEWALT DW4301 5-Inch 8 Hole 80 Grit Hook and Loop Random Orbit Sandpaper (5-Pack) for my little project though there are other options. ►Dust Bag: For my small project, I did not use my shop vac to connect to the sander. Now after reading several reviews, I'm not so sure I would be able to connect my shop vac to the sander anyway. Regardless, the small dust bag did a pretty good job of collecting the fine paint and wood dust as I worked around my address sign. The bag holds a good bit of dust meaning you're not emptying it every few minutes. If you intend to use this with a shop vac you will likely need to purchase an adapter based on my reading. ►Performance: This little orbital sander made short work of the paint on my address sign and I was down to bare wood in no time. The sander is smooth and easy enough to move around and I didn't feel like it was fighting me at all. Even finer details like sanding down the edges of my address sign were no problem at all. Changing the sanding paper pads is as easy as ripping one Velcro-secured pad off and slapping on the new one, just ensure you line up the holes on the bottom! ►In The Box: → Orbital Sander → Dust Bag → Toolbag with zipper → Owners information/warranty card ►Closing: I have no regrets about ordering this orbital sander. Honestly, I wish I'd ordered it years ago instead of being stubborn and hand sanding so many small projects. I'm a fan, recommended!
