The ultimate charger for hobbyist and gamers, I can charge up to 16 AA or AAA independently. The LED is clear and shows you the status with pictures. I don’t use the refresh function much, but there is a button to fully discharge and charge my batteries to extend the battery overall lifespan and performance. I have converted 90% of the my batteries to rechargeables, I mainly use it for the wii, shaver, several radio control transmitter, several clocks, camera flash, wireless headphones and LED lights. This has been a great asset to recharged my batteries in batches. Works perfect as described, and if the price is within your budget, this may be for you. Recommended. Review of the 16 bay Tenergy charger. MY NEW FAVORITE HIGH VOLUME CHARGER. First of all I have probably bought nearly every decent charger over many years and this one is my new favorite. I also have the 12 bay version from years ago (still being sold) and that one was a little too finicky about being too sensitive to very low voltage / depleted batteries not being recognized (which required instilling a minimum charge using an old basic “non-smart” charger that doesn’t analyze minimum voltage) . NOT this one … it is pretty much near perfect compared to many others offering volume charging bays like this one. For example I had over 60 new AA & AAAs batteries still in their original package for several years I had forgotten about in some misplaced box that certainly were well depleted by now and decided I better open them and instill a charge using this new charger. Everyone battery except 1 was recognized and charged them all. NOTE this has “REFRESH” capability to discharge then recharge (optimize capacity & longevity), many high volume chargers do NOT have this feature. This charger is great if you have a lot of batteries and you need to simply keep them charged every few months just to keep them from getting too self-discharged, or if you have a smaller number of batteries where you can charge them all in one shot instead of swapping them out every several hours as with typical 4-bay chargers. I have many chargers from all sorts of manufacturers and many seem to stop charging too early, not fully topping them off or don’t have a discharge/recharge option. I also love the LaCrosse & PowerEx 4-bay chargers that offer a lot of charging control and are great for a small number of problem batteries that needs better attention to recovery. But with only 4 bays, it’s not practical if you have many that need charging. Those are best for intensive care purposes. But for volume charging - this one is the best I’ve come across. If you looking to a volume charger, don’t buy one without the Refresh or Discharge/Recharge option. This is the best in class for high volume chargers.

A very well designed multi-battery charger. Each bay is it's own individual charge bay - no need to pair batteries. You can mix and match sizes and capacities of rechargeable, and the display is very informative regarding the status of each individual battery. The only problem I've had is that the bays are a nice tight fit - you do have to press the batteries in, almost until you hear the "click", to make sure they fit - but the display will not light up if the battery isn't actually inserted properly and charging, so that's not an issue. A definite buy.

I'm a rechargeable battery fanatic...been using a basic 8 bank charger for years and couldnt keep up with the demand. This monitors 16 banks and will stop charging each slot when done individually. You can put in 6 and come back 2 hrs later and put 10 more in and it knows what to do. My old charger would just run 10hrs and turn off so if ya had to add some later..they didnt get the full charge..and i had to unplug and plug back in to reset it..this one hibernates on its own and comes to life when you put a battery in. My fav feature is it let me know one of my batteries was toast..it displayed "error". This is great cause i have way to many to keep tabs on which ones are older and might be going bad.

Had this charger for a while and charge nickel metal hydride AA, AAA weekly. Not sure why the other reviewers are having a problem. The discharge then charge function is great however, it takes a while and I rarely use it, it takes too long. I have used this charger in my jeep to charge AA batteries to use in HAM and FRS radio gear. I really appreciate being able to do this miles from the nearest paved road.

This battery charger is the best one I've ever purchased. It came with the charger, an AC wall plug, and a DC car plug. I have only two issues with this charger, and both are not with the charger itself. PROS: - The charger ACCURATELY charges a very large variety of batteries (speaking strictly of mAhs) simultaneously. - The display is very easy to read. - As the specifications show, it does charge each battery independently. - The discharge functionality of this charger helps maintain battery life and provides a clean charge. CONS: - The charger itself has no real cons. - The manual provided, in short, sucks. Nothing in this product tells you how to switch from CHARGING to DISCHARGING, and visa versa. Nothing in this product or manual tells you how to turn on the LCD back-light. The words on the display of this charger which conveys the state of the charging process are truncated versions of the words, CHARGE, DISCHARGE, and ERROR. I know it sounds somewhat dumb, but there are a lot of people who will not understand what ERR means. In fact, the word ERROR in itself is ambiguous enough. - Before purchasing this product, I spent a few hours hunting down the same brand but with a 9V battery charging slot. While this brand did have a few, it was with the sacrifice of a large number of AA/AAA charging slots. Additionally searching outside of this brand was of a different make and model where the specifications of such did not clarify what I was looking for, or I needed to accept a substantial downsize with a substantial increase of cost. As great of a product as this is, I did not like having to settle for this product. Over all, I love this product. It works GREAT with Tenergy Premium & Energizer batteries. I would definitely recommend this product, or even a smaller version of it to friends and family.

Charger works without hassle. It is finally nice to have a smart charger that has numerous battery banks so I can charge a large number of them at the same time. It charges each cell individually, and the readout shows each cells status. The screen turns off it's blue backlighting when all the batteries are charged, so you can tell from across the shop if they are ready to go or not. Some of the Amazon reviews stated that the charger didn't charge the batteries to the proper voltage. I have so far only used the Tenergy brand Nickel Metal Hydride AA's, but those all charge up to the proper voltage with no issues. The batteries also don't get too warm when charging, but I have them on a ventilated shelf so it gets plenty of open air.

I think this charges the batteries much better than the little four bay chargers that came with my batteries, they last longer, and the 16 individual bays work well to keep all my radios, flashlights, lanterns, toothbrush, trimmer and remotes working without paying for disposable batteries. Devices last noticeably longer when charged with this charger, and the refresh setting has reinvigorated some high capacity batteries that have hundreds of cycles left in them.

This is the one to buy. Really. The first charger I received unfortunately had a problem with two of the sixteen positions. It happens ( I should know, I've been an electrical engineer for ~45 years). However, customer service took care of the issue incredibly fast. I'm very impressed. It is a very high-quality unit with easy to understand display. The ability to charge (or discharge and then charge) between one and sixteen NiMH batteries is perfect. The only regret I have is that I should have purchased it years ago.

I got this charger along with some rechargeable batteries from the same brand. I like the versatility of this charger and the features. Each bay will fit either a AA or AAA size battery. The blues screen will tell you the charge level of each battery individually. Once all the batteries are completely charged, the blue backlight of the screens turn off. There is nothing to set up. Just plug it in and insert batteries... easy. Would buy again. Oh... it took several hours to charge new rechargeable batteries. It doesn’t take as long if batteries are not drained completely.
