Great fun, adorable!-
Fun little robot. I love this guys personality! He likes to patrol your room and check things out. I had to laugh when it ran into a piece of furniture and said it was a hostile being. The only complaint I have is that the robot himself doesn't make noise, only the app. I worry when phones change that the app will no longer work then this little guy will be useless. Now if they could integrate the programming into the robot himself, that would be something. I have one of the interactive R2 D2 robots and love how he works, still I enjoy BB8 I had a problem after he sat for a while and had to get a new phone- he would not pair or even power up. What isn't told to you is that there is a little white reset button on the charger that resets him. I have searched youtube and Sphero's site to find this out.

by far the best made RC toy I have EVER purchased
by far the best made RC toy I have EVER purchased , I dont write many good reviews...there's some real sh&^ out there, but his one is the real thing. A bit smaller than I expected but IMHO actually better that way, can go around even a small apt better than if it were bigger. Easy setup, not even in english, just a simple drawing...then you download app and it works without the head falling off as other cheaper versions are known to do.

Expensive but Worth it!
The toy comes really well packaged and the packaging feels sturdy and really well made. Inside the box you'll find the bb8 unit , the charging station and micro USB cable as well as instruction on how to download the control software for your cellphone so you can enjoy your toy. After installing the software on your cellphone you will get to fully control your bb8 there is few modes that either allow you to control bb8 , pre-made commands, and patrol mode where your bb8 will wander around and map the terrain around him. Generally speaking I really enjoyed the toy , it's a cool gadget for kids and adults to play around with and for starwars fans to enjoy their own private bb8. If you are looking for a cool toy that will keep your kids occupied look no further !

BB-8 is more than just a toy! Program it to do more!
Unlike most people, I did not see the trailer until AFTER I bought this. Originally I wanted an original Sphero Sprk but after seeing that they had a BB-8 one, AND for only $49 on Prime Day, I knew my SW-loving kids would love it even more. BB-8 Sphero is exactly what I was looking for because it is PROGRAMMABLE, just like a Sphero Sprk, plus all the bonus Star Wars toy features that I now see on the trailer (yes, but it's a shame that the sounds don't come from BB-8 directly and the holographic images are only on your mobile device). The key is to not only download the BB-8 specific app but to download the Sphero Edu app, which allows you to control, program your BB-8 to be way smarter than its pre-programmed self. You can have it react or turn around wherever it bumps into something. You can have your mobile device make BB-8 sounds automatically (or even roar like a Lion) whenever BB-8 starts charging. My 8yo programmed it to run laps around my kitchen island. You can program it to go up to your fish bowl, change colors, and turn around. It's a lot of fun and provides quality STEM-based intro-to-robotics education for my kids. Make sure you have your mobile device Location AND Bluetooth turned on in order for the Sphero Edu to connect to BB-8. And remember to orient BB-8 via the AIM feature before running your program so it runs relative to your orientation. We are loving it in my household when there's so much more you can do with it than just having it explore (roll aimlessly), go to sleep, etc.

Fun!!!
Something about watching two droids talking to each other just makes for a funny sight to see. I have BB-8 now, aside from R2D2 that I got for my B-Day, and needless to say that I love these guys. They move as fast or as slow as you want them to move, and they can make you smile when you are feeling down. It works for me that's for sure. I am extremely pleased with this purchase and would gladly buy from this seller again.

This is so much fun to play with.
I'm a Star Wars fan from the first time I saw the movie in 1977, and while the franchise suffered a setback with Jar-Jar Binks, it has been redeemed with this little droid. Yes, this is more of a novelty item, and there is more that I wish it could do (like really project a holographic message), but the operation of it is really quite easy once you get the hang of it. I'm using the Samsung Galaxy Tab that I got from Costco, and have had no problems with BB8 not working or responding. The only thing I hadn't factored in was that BB8 will show how crappy of a housekeeper I am because it picks up all of the dust from areas I haven't reached, and the head's rollers are like the old computer mice, so those have to be cleaned off when the head doesn't move too quickly. OK, Sphero. Hurry up and work on the holographic image! I want to be able to have it roll into a co-worker's office to yell at them without having to leave my seat. :-p

A real BB-8 TOY as in TOY
My wife got BB-8 made by Sphero as my Xmas present. We were able to get it for the lowest price thanks to Amazon. I like it, BB-8 works as advertised but strangely does not make the "no,no,no" sound as per the YouTube video. You need the App for your iPhone/Android phone to be able to do anything. While 'he' is cute and novel, it doesn't really do anything useful and probably won't except that it is a way to have a bit of the movie with you. Driving him around or letting 'him' patrol is a fun short term diversion for a few minutes. I'm not trying to be negative but realistic. 'He' is an expensive toy and that needs to be understood. If you are willing to accept that, fine. If not you may want to pass on buying it. I looked at CNET's review and take it apart video and learned the little guy has a 32 bit processor on board which is impressive. It clearly has a 'brain' and only time will tell if Sphero follows thru on their statement that they plan on increasing what BB-8 can do. As it is, BB-8 is a nice novelty. How much did I pay? $47 and some change. So, I have no real complaints because I think that amount makes BB-8 a good deal. At a $149.99 +, I think you really have to think about it.

Cool little robot
Cool little robot! The biggest thing I liked about this one vs the other, cheaper versions on the market is that the Sphero BB-8 works very similar to the movie version. It can move in any direction and the head stays on top. The whole ball rolls along with no little wheel underneath or anything like that. The hardest part is getting used to how to adjusting the orientation make it go the direction you want. Going forward on the controls on your phone does not always make it go directly away from you. Once you figure it out, its a lot of fun.

Bring the Movie to Life with this Droid
Got this for our 10 year old grandson, and he loves it! He's a big Star Wars fan, and this looks just like the BB-8 droid in Star Wars "The Force Awakens." The robot moves easily and quickly on hardwood floors, concrete sidewalks, and even does okay on low-pile carpet. This is an app-enabled "toy" that has to be paired with a smartphone or tablet (which will serve as the controller). I think this is a great toy for the Star Wars fans and kids. I can see where the robot could start to grow old, since there is currently only so much you can do with it. According to Sphero, the BB-8 droid will continue to evolve and grow "smarter" with new updates. If this happens, it could definitely extend the age range of those who would enjoy this robot.

This is the droid you are looking for!
Despite this being the second attempt at owning one...the unit is a bundle of fun. The first one had an issue with holding charge for one hour as specified so I returned it. It only worked for 10 minutes. We got another as a gift and this time it works just fine. One caveat was the charging cable, a micro USB version was not conducting current so I had to use another micro USB cable I had on hand. Fairness must rule the day: I contacted Sphere about the issue and I am awaiting their reply if they are going to send me another cable. I will append this review based on their reply. Now, the toy is a pleasure to use and learn. The app you download is easy to understand and use and works on either IOS or Android type phones. You should go to their website to make sure your phone will work with the unit before you buy. All in all....a pleasure to have and play with.
