This metal detector is a dream come true !
This is my first detector, I bought it 4-12-17, I did alot of research and comparing certain ones with this one,and read nothing but great reviews,I'm learning and with u-tube I don't see me having any problems,it was easy to put together and very light I'm so happy that I have it !

Really good value
My F22 arrived this weekend and I took it out and put it through its paces. This is a very nice unit, lightweight, excellent for beginners and easy to operate and maintain. The presets make it easy to sense what might have been detected and the PinPoint (PP) feature has pretty accurate depth perception. It is weatherproof, so if you get caught in a shower, fear not - the unit will soldier on. At the end of my hunts I went home and hosed it off lightly and it's ready for the next adventure. Also, the coil is waterproof - I went down to the creek and scanned along the creek bed, underwater, etc., and it worked beautifully. I was skeptical about battery life - the F22 uses 2 AA batteries - and these are holding up just fine after two and a half days of hunting. The manufacturer says they are good for about 20 hours of use and, so far, I think that is an accurate claim. The coil is key, in my opinion, and the F22 had a nice, lightweight, narrow coil that improves accuracy, especially discriminating between metals in certain modes. While some detectorists prefer a large coil to cover more space, my preference is a narrow coil that is more accurate and less fatiguing through a long day of detecting. However, I would note that the you can purchase replacement and accessory coils including a smaller 7" round coil and a larger 11" coil. Although the unit doesn't come with one, coil covers are available from Fisher as well. If I could change one thing about this detector, it would be the arm rest - it has limited adjustability. However, this is a minor thing and it is still very comfortable to operate. It is a solid detector and easy to assemble. Fisher is a division of First Texas, one of the biggest manufacturers of metal detecting equipment in the United States. If you are just getting into this hobby and looking to get a lot of bang for your buck, you won't be disappointed with the Fisher F22.

Fisher f22
Good detector for just about anyone. Great easy to use features, good depth and runs very stable. Makes me wonder why I would need to spend more on a detector!

Great Beach Hunter
The Fisher F22 is a great detector for the money. I metal detected for many years with a Whites 4900/D pro plus and it is a wonderful unit providing me with countless finds in south central Pennsylvania. I now live along the gulf in Florida and thought I'd try hunting on some of the local beaches. I still have the Whites and it works very well, but as it is somewhat of a beast compared to today's units, I thought I'd try the Fisher F22, after reading many reviews on many detectors. So far I am very pleased. The detector is light and easy to swing for hours. It hits on targets even better that I expected and the display is quite accurate at identifying your find before digging. I found that any reading below 30 on the display will be junk, saving a lot of wasted dig time. Water resistant is nice. As luck would have it, I got caught in the rain my first time out. The detector and I both got soaked. Not a problem with this baby. Just kept on going in the rain. One of my first finds was a dime about 10" deep in the sand. Not long after I found a nickel at about the same depth. I was very happy with these finds because that is telling me I'm locating things others have missed, as these beaches are hunted hard and the F22 is reading them at an impressive depth. After reading some rather negative reviews on beach hunting with lower end detectors, I was very pleased to find that this detector does indeed work quite well in wet sand. Now I'm sure its not detecting as well as other more expensive ones designed for the wet sandy beaches, but it does indeed work in the wet sand. The Fisher F22 has a 1-10 sensitivity display and in the dry sand I was setting it on level 8 ( Jewelry mode ) receiving almost no false readings and hitting on coins 10 inches deep. Working into the wet sand, I began to get crazy beeps. I found that setting the sensitivity to 5 eliminated nearly all false readings due to the salty mineralization and continued to give me positive signals on gold and silver. As I buried both near the waterline and read them at a depth of 6 inches. Impressive to say the least from a detector in this price range. Another plus with the F22 is the fact that it operates on two AA alkaline batteries. I've got roughly 8 hours in two trips to the beach on mine so far and the display still reads battery full. Many people complain that this unit lacks the manual ground balance feature and I expect if you do enough detecting, eventually you will hit on some ground some where that this might be a problem, but let me add! My Whites 4900/D DOES have manual ground balance and I still found ground that gave me problems, so its a wash in my opinion. I really can't find anything negative to say about the Fisher F22. Yes there are much better detectors to buy if you want to spend more $$$$$ and yes you probably will be able to do more with those detectors and yes you will probably find more good targets with them. My brother hunts with a Whites Spectrum XLT. If you know your detectors, than you know this is one of the top models. But in "this" price range ( IMO ) your not going to find a better metal detector than the Fisher F22.

It worked great. It is very sensitive and it does take ...
I bought this to find the lot stakes in my yard. It worked great. It is very sensitive and it does take some getting use to, to learn how to adjust the sensitivity. I found a lot of old pieces of junk, nails etc, in my yard just playing with it.

Not just for beginners!
This is my first metal detector, and I'm very pleased with the quality and included feature set. The detector is super-light and comfortable to swing for hours, and the battery life is much longer than I expected. I've used it in parks, on trails, sports fields, and playgrounds. After a few hours of learning the basics I started be able to discern coins from trash... this is nowhere near 100% accurate, but I get a little better every day. While it doesn't include advanced features like ground-balancing, I expect that it'll be a while before I feel the need to upgrade.

Great start for a new hobby.
This was our families 2nd metal detector. It's the first one we've used for anything other than detecting nails in wood. I have to say our first outing was quite the experience. I think my wife, an avid Oak Island tv show fan was intrigued as much as i was. Our first outing was to a local park that was a farm until about 15 years ago. I didn't expect to find much there but it gets a lot of traffic so i was hoping for some coins. Honestly all i wanted was just one quarter to justify the purchase and to say this thing actually works. What I learned was that metal detecting is much more work than I expected. Being new to metal detecting the whole process was a little confusing. Most of our hits were not obvious but slight blips that you really had to work at to find. We started in the parking lot which was gravel which was giving me all kinds of crazy hits so I decided maybe gravel was not good for the detector so we worked our way to the first gazebo area and right away I got a pretty solid #3 or #4 hit on the display so I started digging. Sure enough it was a pop tab. Over the course of the next hour we found lot's of foil which registers in the #3 area, 2 quarters, a nickel, and 3 penny's as well as some aluminum cans, some old metal brackets, a nail and some junk. Every hit we did find something so I was very happy about that. What i got out of the experience is that it's a lot more work than I expected which was fine because i was looking to get a little exercise. Over all after a days use I feel I have a good grasp on the F22 now and feel confidant in it's use. One thing I can't recommend enough is to get a pin pointer. I do not have one but after just one use I can see how valuable they are. Many times it would take a while to locate the penny or quarter in the 6 inch deep hole we just made. My opinion of the F22 is that it does work and did a good job. It easy to use, the pin pointer function works pretty well but more often than not it's just as easy to locate the object without it. The menu and settings are easy to navigate and the owners manual was well thought out. For my use I feel it did it's job and deserved a 5 star rating but just know I have no experience with any other detectors in this price range. So I cannot say if it's better or worse.

Now if i can fine another $228
Still learning to use it. Never knew there was so much junk buried in my yard. Found 2 dimes the first day out. Now if i can fine another $228.80 it'll be perfect. I had an old detector years ago and never really used it much because it was differcult to use, boy have they changed!! Still have to dig

This is a great intermediate detector
This is a great intermediate detector, I found stuff my bounty hunter didn't catch, which is amazing! I love the features this F22 has, Depth (dont really use it but good to have). the number read out is a cool feature too, plus the batterys arent the square ones, uses aa i think, so that's great. the pinpoint mode i have some issues with though, after i dig out a pile of dirt, it seems to go off everywhere on the ground? not quite sure about that. also to anyone that has any trouble opening the battery compartment out, it seems to be stuck in there, just pull on it really easy but steady and it should whip out, after that it shouldn't be stuck, i put it back in and tried it again and it seemed to come out fine for me. those are my only 2 complaints but thats no biggie at all, this is a great metal detector and the controls dont take long to get the hang of, if you want more then a beginners detector, go with this one, i love it and its great. i found so many wheat pennys in my back yard that my bounty hunter somehow didnt get. the coil is cool for its design, i think its more practical then a circle one, it is alil small but they do sell one bigger but its really expensive.. hope some of this was some help to anyone deciding about this piece, its a great detector!

Great unit
I read about metal detectors for quite some time before purchasing; I didn't want to spend big bucks to get a good entry level detector. This unit is every bit as good as a friends who spent far more than I did. I haven't found buried treasure yet, but it's very accurate on coins and anything iron. I've found a couple pieces buried 9-12", right where the detector said it would be. Looking forward to trying it on the beach in a few weeks.
