It expanded beautifully no issues
Received the mattress Wednesday and let it expand as directed for 48 hours. It expanded beautifully no issues, I’m pretty sure it was done after the 24 hours but I waited anyway. Fits perfectly in the crib. I was skeptical because some of the reviews were bad but all is well here. It didn’t quite expand to 5 inches but it’s ok. Soft but not too soft I will update the review as soon as baby starts sleeping on it.

Fits like a glove, firm but not hard!
After reading many reviews I decided to purchase this mattress for my grandson. When I received it I took the mattress out of the box and any protective plastic. I also took the cover off and then let it lay flat. I will be honest and say I did not notice any smell. I went to bed and woke up and it was really looking like a mattress! So I flipped it over and left it all day. When I came home even better. Really I didn't notice much difference at the end of hour 24 and 48 but I kept flipping it every 12 hours for a couple of days. I washed the cover in the washing machine on delicate in cold water with like 3 drops of soap. Now, it says not to do this and to only hand wash but in my world if it can't go into the washer it can't stay. If someone tiny barfs in the middle of the night I am not hand washing anything!!!. I hung the cover dry and put it back on the mattress. It fits! It is a snug fitting cover perfect for a newborn/baby/toddler. It is firm but not hard and no creaking or squeezing sounds as with many spring mattresses. VERY HAPPY! Words of wisdom? Let it sit and flip it as long as you can. Check it and shake it out if it seems needed. Wash the cover to remove any smell and/dust.

and might I add- SUPER comfy! I just laid on it myself in ...
Just received this mattesss today. I was a little nervous after reading how a few people had trouble getting it to lay flat in a uniform thickness. It's been out of the package where it came tightly rolled up for less than 12 hours and it's thick and uniform all the way down, and might I add- SUPER comfy! I just laid on it myself in our living room and dozed off when my husband came and woke me up. We own a King size tempurpedic mattress and all four of our children love our mattress. Obviously we won't buy them their own tempurpedic until they're older. But this will more than make up for it in the meantime. After recently switching my 2 year old to his "big boy bed" I laid on his existing mattress only to find it was as hard as a rock and completely just worn out. Poor baby! I immediately hopped onto my beloved Amazon to hunt down a memory foam toddler bed mattress for my boy- and so grateful I came across this gem!!!! I'll be purchasing another in a couple of weeks when we give the new baby the boot to her own sleeping quarters. :) Going from a tempurpedic to this, I doubt she'll be able to tell much of a difference! Great buy!!!!!!!!!

Fantastic value! Thick and supportive mattress!
I am very impressed with the quality and comfort of this foam mattress!! I ordered two to go in a pair of orbelle wood toddler bed frames (which I also love!) that I am using as dog beds for my two German Shepherds (70 and 75 lbs). The mattresses arrived rolled up in boxes, I followed the instructions, removed he plastic and let them be for 48 hours. They "inflated" as promised and are now beautifully thick and supportive. I am really trilled with the quality of these! I sat on one on the floor to see if it would support me and it did, perfectly! They come with a zippered cover, I have added a protective mattress topper and fitted crib sheet and now I have perfect easy-to-clean dog beds for my big dudes. These are much thicker and better quality than any dog bed you'd buy for twice or three times as much (trust me, I have). I can only assume a toddler would find these comfortable as well. Great buy, five stars!! See pic for 75 lb GSD luxuriating on his new bed. :)

Peoples incorrect use of product...
QUIT buying this bed for your dogs and giving bad reviews, this is a BABY mattress meant for small CHILDREN not animals. So yes the dogs will tear up and pee on them and whatnot but dogs do more damage than a sleeping baby.... if you’re going to write a review on a product use the product correctly the way the product was meant to be used...people who want this mattress for their children what to know the parent outlook on it for kids not their animals...you all wasted my time writing about a money waste because your dog ate the bed when I wanted to know an actual review that mattered for my child...

Would buy again
I was so afraid to order this after reading all of the reviews. So I am going to give you my honest, unbiased experience. Delivery was fast and the package is not heavy at all. The mattress arrives rolled up and you have to unroll it and take the plastic off to inflate it. There was a small foam smell when I unrolled it but once the mattress inflated it disappeared. It took about 12 Hours to inflate completely and I didn’t have to “punch” it or anything to get it to inflate completely. I put one sheet on it and it is pretty firm. My six month old is sleeping on it just fine and she doesn’t sink into the mattress at all. I am overall really happy with it and would buy it again-and night for my dog. I wish everyone had the same experience but I had no issues.

11-8-2017 - Graco Foam Mattress is Perfect...With a Little Guidance.
On reading the other reviews, I was cautiously optimistic about this mattress. Most complaints were about the expansion of the mattress and a chemical smell so, I will consolidate the advice I found in the reviews coupled with my own experience to ensure the reader knows how to get the most out of this excellent product. First, when you unwrap it, be careful not to cut the mattress or mattress cover, but only the box and plastic shipping bag. Next, remove the mattress cover in a well-ventilated room. Open a window if you can. Let the mattress expand for 48+ hours on a hard, flat surface, flipping it over after the first 24 hours. If any corner does not raise or seems crunched up, beat on it, fluff it, massage it, knead it, etc. until the corner is expanded and full. The chemical smell went away for us because we let it lay out for so long. Once the mattress is fully expanded, put it back in the mattress cover, pop on a sheet and place it in your crib. We have two Graco Lauren Convertible Cribs and the mattress fit in both snugly and with ease. There was no space left between the crib slats and the mattress after about ten minutes of settling. Check my pictures out for an idea of how nice the fit is. The final measurements of the mattress are: 52"x28"x5". So, in short, the other negative reviews complained of a smell, failure to expand properly and an ill-fit. By removing the cover and letting it expand/air out for 48 hours, this is all alleviated. With foam, you are ALWAYS going to have a heat diffusion issue to some extent due to the properties of the material, but other than that, I will take that any day of the week instead of a noisy, uncomfortable mattress. My newborn son is already sleeping well on his new foam mattress so don't be put off by folks who didn't take the time to get their mattress in the best possible shape. Good luck!

BEST Large Breed Dog Bed!
So I didn't use this for a baby, but rather my furbaby. This makes by far the BEST dog bed if you have a large breed dog. I have a 90lb German Shepherd and I used this with a fitted crib mattress cover and she loves it! Not only do you get a 5" thick foam mattress that is the size of a crib, but it also comes with a waterproof liner (bonus for dogs that are accident prone) and a mattress cover and a flame resistant cover (which I didn't use since I didn't think it was necessary). All for under $40!! I followed the suggestion of other users and took all the plastic off and all the covers, including the waterproof one (watch out for static electricity!). I let it set out in a room flat for 2 days and it expanded beautifully. It did have a slight smell at first but went away after the first day. I love that it is huge and can fit my dog all spread out and the best part is easy washing and there are sooo many cute crib sheets out there so you can change up the pattern when you want something new and you can have it match any room!! I will probably buy another one in the future. Also I did not get paid or receive anything at a discount for this review, just trying to help out all those large breed fur-parents out there!!

In my opinion all new stuff like this is going to have one
I bought this mattress because it was the cheapest one on Amazon and cheaper than the cheapest one at Walmart. (Just being honest) the reviews were mixed but I gave it a go. to address some of the main things I read in reviews. A) yes it did kinda have a strong smell when I first opened the box. In my opinion all new stuff like this is going to have one. I am not a smoker and feel that my sense of smell is relatively good and the smell was not bad enough that it would prevent me from ordering it again. After the mattress had fully fluffed it was basically gone. B) my mattress at first appeared like it was not going to fully expand but it did. I came back and fluffed it a couple times, turned it on it's side and shook it a little to help. It was probably ready in more like 5 hours but I gave it a full 24 before use. C) it is not really as firm as some other baby mattresses including the one we have for our toddler, but it is still firm enough. My husband and I both laid on it and it sprang right back. It's really comfortable. We were transitioning a bed sharing baby and he seems to love it and is taking well to the switch. It fits a standard crib perfectly. The sheets stay on it well. The only thing is with it being foam it is going to be susceptible to liquids. We got a waterproof mattress cover (incidentally the cheapest one on amazon, it's bamboo or something) and it has been working out perfectly. I highly recommend it, it is a great but for the money and I don't feel that the quality is bad even though the price is low. I'd buy another one for sure.

was hesitant b/c of reviews but am deeply satisfied and kids approve.
Okay I will honestly say I was sceptical of this baby\toddler mattress because of the reviews. Some of the positive reviews made me decide to give it a chance. I have twins so I actually purchased two of these. I followed what some reviews said about "fluffing" the end of the mattress that was squished the most and I aslo took off all the covers too. It took less than 24 hrs for both mattresses to fully expand. I think because i did this it was easier for them to expand. And it fits both cribs perfectly. My other hesitation was how soft the foam would be. I was happy to find it quite firm. Now when my kids go to bed for nap\bedtime and within 15 minutes they are asleep. I reccomend pulling off all covers to let the foam expand and fluff the squished side. Then after it's expanded put the covers back on AND make sure to line the seams with the edges.
