Great little product, with only one flaw I'd love to see them fix. The pump sucks up water fast to start the vacuum flow, the handle is nice and long so you don't have to put your hands down in the tank just to suck the bottom of the tank (at least in our 30 gallon tank). The only issue is that the tip that the drain side has no clamp to hold it to the barrel. So, you have to be very careful when you're sucking the dirty of our tank that the other side is still sitting in the bucket and not splashing all over the floor. My old cleaning pump had a black clip that would fasten to the bucket edge and lock the tubing down to the bucket so it wouldn't fall out. That was nice. The tube could be slightly larger, but I elevated my waste bucket (by stacking it on another bucket) so it was high enough to allow the tubing to properly sit in the bucket yet still reach the bottom of the tank. The quality is done well, the product works as expected, the flow control valve slows it down (to about what our old one used to run at) and the "wide open" (no flow) is great for re-filling with clean water because I don't have to sit and wait too long.

My kids received a Glofish globe tank (1.8 gal) as a gift several months ago and we needed something to help filter out the gunk that accumulated in the bottom of the tank. I have never siphoned any fish tank before so I didn't know which one to buy ... or how difficult it was to operate. The directions were simple and the pump worked flawlessly! I wish I was able to take a picture mid-siphon, but I was using both hands as the tank is round and I was cleaning the gravel at the same time as pumping the bulb. Very easy to use and I would recommend this product if you are considering it!

Amazing product! I've tried other Aquarium pump cleaners in the past and this one has been the best by far! The pump works to perfection and I love how you can adjust the suction power when it's cleaning the gravel. It comes with two nozzles a short and longer one. The shorter nozzle you can use to just drain the tank or clean the gravel on a smaller tank. The longer nozzle, I have to be honest, could be a little longer but it does a great job at cleaning my large gravel in my 55 gallon tank. The small suction cup is great because it lets you attach the nozzle on the glass of the aquarium for a complete one-hand cleaning operation. Stop thinking about it and buy it already! You won't regret it!

Having bought our first aquarium, it was time to find an easy to use pump. After looking at the reviews we settled on this. I must say this has been working rock solids since the last 3 plus months. I use it every weekend to change portion of the water (we have gold fish so lots of waste as you can imagine). The flow control and the mesh at the suction end work well. You need to get some practice with sand suction. It took me more than a few tries to get to a point where I was agitating the sand and cleaning it up without sucking too much into the drain bucket. The bulb that initiates the suction is easy to use and works well. This is a no frills, simple to use apparatus. Happy with the purchase so far.

Worked just right for my (tall) 20-gallon tank and I can just get away with not putting my hand in the water. I would have liked the tube to be just slightly longer, and for there to be a clip of some kind that I could use to attach it to my water bucket, but aside from that, it works steadily and quickly. Even with the clamp on, it went too fast for me to finish vacuuming the gravel, but I know I'm not supposed to do all the gravel at once anyway. I love the hand pump so that I don't have to disturb the fish with the up-and-down motion I had with my old aquarium cleaner. My substrate is small pebbles, and this barely lifts them. I have no worries about anything getting stuck in there, though I'm sure gravel would be different. All in all, I'm glad I ordered this over what I could find at the pet store.

Works really well. Came with 2 attachments (one short and one long) each with a strainer/filter to prevent the substrate from being sucked up. The length of the hose was perfect for me, too. Wasn't too short and wasn't too long. It is a little bit tough to keep the water pumping through when the water gets pretty low. I have a 30G stank and recently had to empty it and once I got down to about the last 10 gallons or so it was tough to keep that going. But that's to be expected when siphoning. Overall great product!!

I've tried other aquarium gravel cleaners, but never had any luck with them due to either lack of suction, kinking hoses, etc. I decided to give this one a try and I'm glad I did. It works great whether you're doing a water change or just cleaning the gravel. The flow regulation is handy and the ability to stop the water flow is useful and prevents a mess when you're taking it out of the tank. The attachments are a good feature too. The hose is a flexible accordion style hose so it doesn't kink or try to stay rolled up like traditional vinyl tubing. The best feature of all has to be the hand pump. This makes it much easier to start the water flow than most other gravel cleaners because it's as easy as squeezing the pump a few times and the water starts flowing. No more having to resort to using your mouth on the end of a hose and hoping not to get a mouth full of fish tank water. If you're in need of a gravel vacuum or transfer pump for your aquarium do yourself a favor and get this one, you'll be glad you did.

I like the way this pump works for gravel vacuuming. It makes cleaning out my fish tank much easier. I normally do not use any of the attached filters to get a little better suction. It doesn't pick up the gravel enough to suck it up so works quite well that way. The pump mechanism works well and normally takes about 5-10 quick pumps to have the siphon effect kick in. It is adjustable put I normally let it run open as the tube is small enough to maintain a paced rate of flow as is. I have a 5 gallon tank we keep a single Betta fish in and normally will replace 1/2 of the tank water each week and this has made that task significantly easier and more effective than scooping water out manually. I definitely recommend this pump as an effective option at a great price point.

I will admit that I have not purchased an aquarium suction cleaner in over a decade. The only reason I purchased one now is because my old faithful syphon cleaner died after 15 years of regular use. With that being said things have apparently changed in the way people clean their tanks! This cleaner has some definite improvements and features over my belated cleaner, with my only concern being that it is nowhere near as 'tough' in construction as ol' faithful. While I may not get anywhere near 15 years of use with this cleaner, I will enjoy using it while it lasts. The greatest thing about this cleaner to me- the pump action suction. Anyone who has to submerge the entire huge mile long hose of a cleaner will immediately understand how amazing this feature/improvement is. Then, a suction cup so you can walk away while moving water out of the tank? Brilliant. This cleaner even has an attachment (!!!!! options!!!!) to switch on the type of media you are cleaning. Finally, a flow control just about blew my mind the first round. I will say that if you have not used a cleaner like this before and have just now came out from under the rock with your prehistoric cleaner set the flow to all the way restricted. That will make it the closest to your ol' faithful suction, and allow the learning curve to begin. While this cleaner does seem to be made of a much lighter plastic than my oldie, and the hose out of the tank isn't as long (putting the waste water bucket on a chair is an instant solution that your back will thank you for as well), not having to deal with total submersion and having options is amazing.

This is an excellent option for anyone looking to keep their gravel and water clean. I find that this siphon works very well on a number of substrates. I have used it on small gravel, planted aquarium substrate, sand, and bare bottom tanks with excellent results. I appreciate that it has a built in "hand pump" as some of my aquariums are close to the ground and starting a siphon without the hand pump proves difficult. This hand pump eliminates that issue entirely. I do not have much experience with the flow controller option but I did test it the first time I was using this siphon. It seemed to work well and allowed me to reduce the flow down to a mere trickle. This feature seems like it would be useful on sand or other very fine substrates although my sand stays in place just fine at full power. My only issue thus far is that there is a small section that tends to kink when I let the hose hang. All I have to do to remedy this is make sure the hose is resting on a different "side" and it works beautifully.
