Lightweight and Easy Maintenance
I debated for a long time before buying this trimmer -- gas powered trimmers are so much more powerful, and manual feed string can save you a little bit of money if you want to be frugal. This item was over $90 when I was considering it, and I thought long and hard. Then Amazon Warehouse had one someone had returned priced at $52, and I jumped on it (along with a spare battery pack). I'm so glad I did! It's lightweight and requires so much less maintenance than the gas powered trimmer I used to own. In my opinion, the convenience far outweighs the power you give up. I'm a middle aged woman who is not in the greatest of health, and my mom is getting up there in age (71), so helping her take care of her yard on the weekends can be difficult. Not only does this little guy help me out with the heavier work by being so light & maneuverable, she is able to easily use it to do light trimming around trees on her own when I'm not there. Being able to just turn it on without having to pullstart a sometimes reluctant motor is a godsend for her. Being a little on the taller side, I also appreciate the telescoping handle. I don't have to stoop over a whole lot to work with it (no lower back pain!), and I can still shorten it when I'm done for easier storage. For its light duty purpose, this runs like a dream. The first time I used it, though, there was a lot of catching up to do on mom's yard. After charging both the included battery and the spare I'd ordered, I was able to do messy HEAVY DUTY chopping for about 40 minutes. If you live out in the country and know how weeds can get overgrown in a ditch & around a mailbox, you know that's impressive! For easier tasks, the battery power of course lasts a bit longer. With the lowering of the price on this item (in the mid-60 dollar range as I write this), I don't think anyone should hesitate to buy it for light duty trimming. I also recommend picking up a spare LBXR20 battery and a couple extra replacement spools, and you'll be set.

Works great and it's very convenient to own when you have all of Black and Decker's 20 Volt battery tools like the drill and the blower. Batteries interchangeable. I dont know how long the battery lasts, because I only use it for quick touch ups, but it should be long enough for small or medium jobs, and the batteries recharge fairly quickly. Love it.

Exceeded my expectations
I wanted something light weight and capable of cutting. This little string trimmer is just that. The battery will last about half an hour. It cuts through most weeds and grass. I wanted to see what this trimmer could do and tried cutting down some brush. It does okay with light brush but heavy brush, not so much. This is a great tool for trimming around the yard. It's not great for clearing out brush but no one would expect it to be. Out of the box, this trimmer is extremely easy to use. All I had to do was attach the guard and load the battery.

Exceeded My Expectations!!!
For the last 18 months I've not let the lawn crew edge or use a weed eater in my back yard. I didn't like the fact that they just kept cutting the edge of the lawn further and further from the rock lining the flower beds and leaving bare ground. And the grass was trimmed or scalped several feet around trees, etc. It was a constant battle with them so I told them to just mow and no trimming. I have Zoysia grass so it grows pretty slow. Obviously after a while it could use some trimming. I'm in my 80's so I can't do much of it myself. Finally I decided that if I could find a lightweight battery powered trimmer I might be able to do some light trimming. I decided to buy the LST201 20V trimmer. And it works great for my needs. I have back yard with about 150' of flower beds and several trees to be trimmed. I can lightly trim the whole yard with a single charge! The grass I trimmed was only a few inches high but the trimmer was more powerful than I expected.

Love it
The thing I like about this is the auto-feed on the string. I know there are many out there that have wrestled with string feed, but this really has worked well for me. Have done my entire yard five times without issue, which is a miracle for me. Battery lasts very well, but make sure you get it on the charger after use. Heads and shoulders above a gas model.

More powerful than i thought!
This little thing is pretty powerful! I'm surprised since its battery powered I figured it wouldn't cut through much but it does! I've got some pretty nasty weeds around my fence and shed and it took them down no problem. I'm happy with it!

Great for a typical suburban lawn.
So far, so good. I have the usual sized suburban lawn with a lot of flower beds that I need to trim around, and a lot of slopes with holes that I can't mow over. I can do my entire front and back yard (30 ft x 15 ft each) without the battery dying, which is great for me. I managed to wack down quite a bit of an overgrown area that meets the woods - it got the thinner, less woody stuff but this isn't made for heavy duty use. Sometimes I get lazy and don't feel like pulling out my push reel mower and use this instead on the faster-growing parts of my lawn (I have like 5 different types of grass and clover growing out there) and it does the job just as well as my mower. It's very light and a child or senior could use it, no problem. I sometimes wish things were made for taller people but I didn't have any back pain from having to stoop over at all.

Impressive battery life!
I bought this expecting the battery life to be not great. So on any given day I wouldn't have to spend too much time actually working. Nope, shouldn't have counted on that. Today I kept going, trying to see if I could run it dead. I finished the house, garden, trees, still going strong so I cleaned out the ditches and edged next to the road. Still not dead. Was starting to slow a bit towards the end but I got way more than the expected 20min run time.

Exactly what I was looking for!
I could not be happier with this! Now this is not a high powered gas weed eater that can destroy small trees, but it does the job of trimming a lawn nicely. I've used it twice, the 1st time the grass was very wet and the battery lasted about 15 minutes, the second time the grass was dry and it ran 20 minutes. It is powerful enough to take down large weeds with a few passes and zips across the grass with no issues. It is easy to operate and very light weight. I would highly recommend this and if 20 minutes isn't long enough run time buy a second battery!

Easy to use and gets the job done - UPDATED 5/31/16
This Black + Decker 20V String Trimmer is perfect for light and medium duty trimming jobs around the yard, and can quickly be setup and used out of the box with a charged battery. I used it around my yard in between rain showers, wanting to make the grass tougher to cut when wet for purposes of review. I noticed the trimmer only bogged down slightly in very thick, patches of grass and simply pulling back and taking another swipe got the job done. Power to the trimmer remained constant during 30 minutes of continuous use and there was still a charge on the battery. I liked how easy it was to adjust the height of the trimmer (a simple twist to unlock, followed by sliding to the desired height). I also like that it has an automatic feed so that stopping to pull out more string wasn't necessary. This product is versatile, adjusting the trimmer to an edger is a breeze and it works well both ways. By unlocking the same adjustment on the shaft of the trimmer and twisting, the trimmer quickly becomes an edger and then is locked in place. The battery is to be removed during each of these adjustments per the instructions, and that too is easy to seat and lock into place at the handle end of the trimmer. The weight of this trimmer is far lighter than my gas and electric trimmers, and should be comfortable to use for most consumers. Storage is made easy with a metal loop on the cutting end of the trimmer to allow it to hang in your storage shed or garage. The only thing I didn't much like about this product were the directions. They are a bit text-heavy and muddled with warnings. It was hard to find a 1-2-3 type of setup instructions (I never did...), but I did find that by going through the User Manual and marking key points with a highlighter for reference did help. Things like 'charging battery' and 'changing from trimmer to edger' were simply made easier to find by doing this prior to use. Overall, this is a very nice yard maintenance tool and one that will make working on my half-acre yard much easier. I always dreaded trimming the weeds around the cyclone fencing during the summer months with my heavy-duty gas trimmer, but this product is comfortable to use and should make the job much easier and be just as effective. A very good product at the right price! I think many urban and suburban consumers will find it makes short work of trimming around the base of trees, and along fence lines and sidewalks. Someone with a small lawn could conceivably use this trimmer to keep it looking good without the need for a traditional mower. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- UPDATE: 3/17/16 I've been using this product for about two weeks now and I really am impressed by the long battery life and ease of use. Whacking down super-high clumps of grass prior to the first spring mow, trimming around the base of trees and the fencing has been swift and easy. The edging feature is a good one, but I'm not as good with it as I'd like just yet. I'm looking at buying replacement spools to have on hand and while Amazon recommends a certain Black & Decker type for 'most', this product isn't listed. I may go ahead and order it as it comes up in 'others buy this...' with this product. Amazon returns are so easy it just seems like it's worth the gamble. I'm really happy with this product and for my half-acre yard, it's a valuable tool. However for heavy-duty weed whacking such as blackberry vines, the gas powered trimmer is still the way to go. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- UPDATE: 4/26/16 This has become my 'go to' yard tool! Works slick to quickly edge my yard, and trimming along a fence is a breeze. I do recommend a second battery if your yard is a large one, but the battery life is very good and should be OK for the average urban lot. In addition to its intended uses, I continue to enjoy using this product in areas of my yard that the mower just won't go (lots of root exposure from trees) to trim grass. I use a sweeping motion to do this and end up with a trimmed lawn in no time. I received this product for free via the Amazon Vine program, but I would buy one in a heartbeat after using it. I wouldn't hesitate to buy it as a gift either, as long as the intended user wasn't in need of a heavy-duty trimmer for tall brush or similar. --------------------------------------------------------------- UPDATE: 5/31/16 I continue to be impressed by this little guy's power and stamina! I've still not run out of the first string spool that came installed on this trimmer, despite using it weekly since it arrived on my half-acre lot. The battery lasts a long time (about as long as my arms do), and it's nicely powered for most of my yard tasks. I have noticed that it doesn't quite have the 'umph' I'm looking for when I get into thick blackberries, but that's to be expected. This tool was never really designed for that kind of work - for that it's the gas trimmer. But for edging, cutting down up to 12" grass, trimming around the base of trees or a fence line - this is awesome! So happy with it! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
