I placed an order for this in early July (approximately 6 months ago). This soda charger has been in constant service since it arrived at my house. Part of the reason why I bought this was to help cut back on drinking soda. It worked! I drink seltzer with Juice, with lemon, sometimes just plain. Don't fill the water too high! Otherwise you get a dry-ice show in your kitchen. The ISI is very durable! One user tip, I keep glass bottles in my refrigerator filled to the water levels that I marked on them (the water level is the correct amount of water to re-fill the ISI). This way, when the ISI is empty, I can quickly fill it with refrigerated water and prepare more seltzer. I had a sodastream. Its a nice device, but this is far better! The carbonated water is still fizzy at the end of the bottle (not the case with sodastream). I hesitated, but I'm happy that I got the ISI.

My dad always had a seltzer siphon. And now I do, too. Lifehackers has great articles on what all you can infuse flavor wise into your water.

my initial experience was similar (negative) to what others have posted. I am extremely satisfied now. It all has to do with following the right procedure. 1. Fill the siphon's container to the brim with water. Remove a bit from the top. Incidentally, the iSi chargers come with instructions stating that you only half fill the container. That is inaccurate. 2. Insert the stem (the one with a disk on top attached to a "straw." Make sure that the disk is resting flat on top of the container. 3. Screw on the top, making sure that it is perfectly and securely screwed. 4. Insert the charging capsule into its sleeve. Screw in the sleeve. At some point, you will hear a "whoosh," which indicates that the tip of the charging capsule has been punctured and the gas has gotten into the container. If you have done everything right, you will not see any of the water leaking. 5. Finally, and most important, leave the siphon in the fridge for a few hours. 6. Enjoy!

Simply awesome. Living in a city without a car, I got tired of hauling soda from the grocery store and figured seltzer is a healthy alternative anyway. Did a bit of reading on soda makers and this was the best option (it really is sturdy, and I think it will last). The first few times be sure to tighten it well (it gets easier after a few uses) The seltzer it makes is great- cold water and time makes it much fizzier, but I like my seltzer less fizzy anyway (bottled seltzer was always too gassy for me) so I enjoy it right after I gas it up. The downside is you can only make a single liter at a time- if you've got a large family the other soda makers will work better for you. MrFizz and Kayser CO2 fit fine.

Quite good. Secret is to prepare according to manufacturer description and cool down for at least 6 hours in fridge before drinking sparckling water

I love this thing! I'm an avid (plain) soda water drinker and I hated having to go to the store/stock pile 12 packs. This has changed my life! To get the best fizz, I am copy-pasting instructions provided by A. Abdine in their review - follow this and you'll get the best fizz possible! 1. Use cold water. Yes... I know, everyone has been suggesting this...but seriously, this really makes a difference. I'm not talking about cool water here... the water needs to be COLD. 2. the secret trick that no one really seems to be talking about here is that the cold water needs to be poured into a CHILLED SIPHON! Before first use, put the empty metal siphon in the freezer to get it nice and chilled. After that, every new batch will stay cold since you'll be storing the siphon in the fridge before refreshing it. 3. after dispensing the (single) CO2 cartridge into the water, SHAKE THE CANISTER VIGOROUSLY 20 TIMES BEFORE PUTTING IT INTO THE FRIDGE. The instructions suggest shaking it 5 times. I found 20 works alot better 4. keep it in the fridge for at least an hour before dispensing for the first time.

I purchased this for my home in FLA and also purchased a Soda Stream system for my main residence. Hands down, this is far far better. Carbonation is totally sustaining vs soda stream which is flat 24 hrs later. I also think less expensive long run. I use carb water nightly. This takes 1-2 cartridges to get the hang of it, but still think it's worth the money. Ditching the soda stream and buying this for my home. Plus it's just too retro cool!

This seltzer bottle works great. Follow the directions, making sure the water is refrigerator cold before charging, and you'll get a great fizz. We keep this bottle on the door of the fridge, and we don't even have to take it out to dispense the seltzer. We've never had it go flat, either, no matter how long the charged bottle sits in the fridge. We'll never go back to bottled seltzer. Highly recommended.

To add to A. Abdine's review on how to properly use this thing: If you're not careful when tightening on the CO2 cartridge loader, you lose a lot of CO2 and get poor results. You have to gently tighten the cartridge until just before it will be pierced to shoot gas into the canister. Then twist your arm and wrist awkwardly all the way around so that you can make one really big twist of the cartridge loader, so all in one motion the cartridge is pierced and tightly locked against the canister. If you don't do this and have to make a turn or two between the time the cartridge is pierced and when the seal is locked, you lose too much gas. I get great results with the canister left in the freezer before filling. I also shake for a full minute after adding CO2, which is probably excessive, but it seems to work so why not.

This just came today and, thanks to the previous reviewer, I'm enjoying it very much. I can see that the tips A. Abdine posted made the difference. The bottle and attachments are very well made and I love the sleek design. It sputtered and leaked around the top a little at first so make sure you really screw it on tight, but except for that it's great. I did a lot of research and it looks like I made the right choice. I ordered a box of MOSA cartridges from eBay (a bit cheaper than from Amazon) so, including shipping, each quart is costing about $.38. I don't like the ecological impact of the canisters, but I guess it's balanced by the fact we won’t be buying any more plastic bottles or cans.
