VERY good shorts - durable and stylisj - Carhartt strong!
These shorts are really fantastic - sturdy as you'd want them to be, but not as thick and stiff as the Carhartt canvas duck shorts. VERY durable nonetheless, and a bit more breezy and loose in the thigh and crotch. A terrific fit overall. I've owned the other, classic Carhartt shorts for years (and still do,) and absolutely love them, but was feeling that the length (well above the knee) was getting a bit dated. Tried these, and absolutely loved them. No major "cargo" pocket look, as the pockets on these are slim and subtle, yet very handy when needed. They look great with a tee shirt while working or hiking, and equally great with a button down summer shirt or polo. Really nice, well made, durable shorts that I expect to last a long time. Highly recommended.

My favorite work shorts
Best shorts I have ever owned. I'm a slightly stalky plumber, 5'10" and 200# with short legs. Carhartts always seemed to run tight, not just the waist, but too tight all around. These fit well, but I usually wear a 34 and the 36s fit me better. but I have a pair of each. I can move well in then, crawl/squat etc and they feel great. These are the most durable shorts I have ever had, I do rough plumbing, and carry stuff in my pockets. the edge of the pocket is double thick, so my tape measure doesn't hurt the shorts, and the lower right pocket is just right for a level or pair of pliers.

My Husband Loves These Shorts
Fits exactly as expected. My husband is ex-military and very rough on his clothes. He loves these shorts. He says that they fit great, are comfortable, and really feel like they'll hold up to being worn and used. He especially appreciates the sturdy belt loops. My husband is 5'6" and I ordered him the 10 inch shorts and they were great. I wouldn't recommend the 12 inch for anyone under 5 feet tall.

Durable
The outside (outward facing side) of the back pockets are lined with Cordura nylon. My wallet eventually wears through this area of my other shorts cotton shorts so that is a great feature. I am not a fan of the dark color of that Cordura lining where one can see it or the dark faux leather knife clip patch on the right hip pocket because my shorts are a light color. The ripstop cotton is lightweight enough to be comfortable but heavy enough to be durable. I am a big fan of the very large watch pocket. I use it for ear plugs. The cargo pockets have snaps. I prefer Velcro but the snaps work. The hammer loop is a little too small to use easily. There is a pocket on the right side rearward of the cargo pocket. Its opening faces forward and it does occasionally catch on things. I was working on kitchen cabinets and it kept catching on the cabinet knobs. The relaxed fit model is roomy enough to get up and down as in working on plumbing under a sink without binding. Overall I am please with these shorts and ordered two more pairs.

Another Home Run from Carhartt
My husband loves these shorts! They are great for him to wear while doing all of his chores around the house and hardware store runs. He wears the Carhartt pocket t-shirts and we find them to be quality and these shorts stack up the very same. These wash up nicely and have held their color. We are ordering two more pairs!

The Call it Work Wear Because it Works...
These shorts (along with Carhartt canvas or twill pants) are a staple in my world. I've quit the fashion shorts - no reason to bother with Quicksilvers, North Face or whatever - a pair of these will outwear 2 pairs of most anything else at a much lower price point, and are so comfortable after a few washings that I'd dig through the drawer to find them. The waist is true to size (no 'vanity' inches here), and the length just says 'we set the standard, not follow the herd'. Cell phone pocket is a real bonus. Back in the day I used to wear Patagonia Stand Up shorts, but at $59 that's a thing of the distant past.

These shorts are a good match for taller wearers. Good product, well made.
I wear these shorts while doing carpentry work and needed a pair that had a dedicated cell phone pocket built in. The pocket sits fairly low on the right pant leg. This patch pocket fits my Samsung S7 phone including it's rubber case with enough slack to get it out easily when needed. The pocket is deep enough to swallow the whole phone, good protection. The shorts overall are well made and typical of Carhartt quality. The 10" pant leg length is probably better for taller users, 5'10" and up. If you're shorter, and use kneepads for your work, the shorts hang down over the knee pads and conflict a bit with the kneepads. I am shorter and wish I'd gotten the 8" pant length. Next time.

Great shorts for work and casual wear
I have a 33 inch waist and bought size 33 - and they fit. In fact they fit well enough in the waist to be comfortable and wearing a belt is only optional. It's safe to say that these fit better than some of my dress pants which cost a lot more. The fit in the seat and legs is roomy and comfortable without looking like you've purchased too large a size. I bought 4 pairs and can feel OK about tossing the worn out pairs of shorts I thought I'd never be able to replace with something that fit and looked OK..

Nice carpenter shorts!
Not too bulky - no cargo pockets to get in the way, snag on stuff or add weight while working. Single side pocket is the perfect size for a smart phone or small hand tools (bullet level, screwdrivers or pliers). Standard back pockets are ample size and allow for easy access without a flap (I carry a Speed Square back there). Size seems to fit as expected - just right in the waist with some room to move in the seat and legs. Initial quality appears good. I have had multiple pairs of these shorts and have tried other brands and models, but these work best for me as a residential remodel contractor/carpenter.

Quality Shorts
This is my third pair of Carhartt shorts. They fit well and stretch a bit as you wear them. When I first put them on I feel like they have shrunk but they haven't nor has my butt grown between washes. They hold their color till the end. Very little fading. They are tough and will last a long time.
