I was extremely excited to receive my envirocycle composter. It is amazing, build like a tank, easy to move- I knew this would be absolutely perfect. I had a great spot for it in my yard, and set it out there immediately. But- I couldn't close the door. Try as I might, I simply couldn't latch the door. I had a couple friend look at it to see if I was just missing something obvious,- but they also couldn't close the door. So I came to the product page on Amazon and asked a question- had anyone else experienced this problem, and what did they do? You can find my question if you search through the questions, and you should be able to see the amazing customer service I received. Envirocycle a were my question, apologized for the issue and asked me to call them so that they could make it right. so, I called them, said that I had the question on Amazon about the broken latch, and the gentleman knew exactly who I was and what I was talking about. Quite obviously they were not getting a ton of complaints like mine. They are sending me a brand new drum and door assembly. He asked if I would be willing to return the drum and door assembly that I have now so the company can do some forensics on it, and ensure that it never happens again. I agreed, the jaded part of me wondering about the high cost of return shipping that I would have. I am to place the dru and door assembly in the box that the new one is shipped to me, and use the included Fedex shipping label and they will arrange pickup for me. This is by far the best customer service that I have ever experienced. This is a company that obviously stands behind their product. Thank you very much. I really look forward to making some great compost, and I will spread the word about how fabulous the Envirocycle composter is.

We live in Central Texas in Bell County. We do not have good soil here. We have had our Envirocycle for a little less than five years. It is, without a doubt, THE most valuable tool we use in our garden, and on our extensive property. Recently we had a freeze. We compost ALL of our kitchen waste. I went out to make our usual compost run, and when I opened the lid, the tab on the lid had apparently frozen to the compactor and sheared off from the lid--see the picture attached to this review. I called Envirocycle.com's customer service hotline and explained what had happened. I told them how old our composter was. I told them about the freeze. I fully expected them to give me a total cost for a new lid + shipping and handling, and ask for a credit card. They didn't. They said they would be happy to send me a new lid, free of charge, and they were, get this, "...sorry for the inconvenience." They went on to explain how they've improved their product since ours was produced. Honestly, I can't name one car, truck, product, tool or component or anything I own for that matter that is backed by this kind of SINCERE customer service. Unbelievable how Envirocycle stands behind their product, YEARS after it's been in nearly daily use. We have moved with this composter. It's tough. It makes a liquid in the base that is phenomenal and can be easily drained out directly under the root line of our trees. Solid waste is decomposed in a matter of days when it's over 65 degrees. Bones, twigs, old fruit, cooked foods, left-overs, leaves, dog waste, solids and liquids--it ALL goes into our Envirocycle. What comes out is a thick black sludgy-like mass every two weeks or so. We mix in old coffee grounds and dirt, put it in the bottom of all of our plantings, trees and fauna alike, and what happens is this: EVERYTHING we plant is Vibrant! The cool thing is that our garbage doesn't smell, ever. Nothing goes to waste, nothing. The only downside to this remarkable piece of equipment is that you may want to consider putting it down-wind of your residence, or at least out a ways from your house if it is your intention to use it like we do. I know some subscribe to the "natural compost only" theory, but the way we use it, ours gets a little ripe in the heat of summer. What I can tell you is this, ours was a gift to us; if I had 10 of these things, I'd have them all in various stages of composition, so I could use them all the time in the garden and around our ranch. My wife and I are both retired military. We know a good product when we see it, and more importantly, when we've used it. We've used ours, extensively. This review has been written BECAUSE we have owned ours for YEARS, and we felt we actually owed Envirocycle something. THIS IS A GREAT PRODUCT, YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED IN ANY ASPECT OF THIS GREAT TOOL FOR YOUR GARDEN!

I have the older, much older version, when their patent was still pending. I have been using it for all these years--more than a decade. However, over those years I lost first one, and then another of the rollers beneath the bin, until eventually I'd mislaid three rollers and found I had a tough time trying to rotate the bin. I looked for replacements but couldn't find any. On a whim, I contacted Envirocyle Systems, hoping I could buy replacements. To my surprise, they emailed me right back. Sadly, I needed to provide a whole bunch of information--receipt, where I'd bought it etc. I had none of those facts to hand, so I gave up. Afterwards, I received regular emails reminding me to forward the information to them. I thought about the problem, and went out into the garden to photograph the composter's component parts, and sent those photos instead. Can't tell you how delighted I am to have received those three rollers in the mail--no expense, not even mailing costs. I am so impressed. In fact, I'll probably save up for their new and improved version if that's the kind of first class customer service on offer.

Bought this to replace a much larger version that was gifted to me years ago and later destroyed by a crazed exterminator (don't ask! :-o ). The bigger size is outside my price range so I decided to try this one. At first glance after it arrived, I thought it was too small, but on reflection, I think it is going to be perfect. Envirocycle has made a couple of improvements since they manufactured my old, deceased and much beloved composting tub. First off, the lid to this thing is MUCH larger in proportion to the overall size of the tub. The old design was OK, but when you had a lot of stuff in it and a lot of gardening to do, it used to be a pain to get the compost out and haul it across the yard or dump it in a wheelbarrow a few handsful at a time. The generous new lid design gives you an opening big enough to shovel out a substantial amount of compost in one swell foop. AND: the old model's lid couldn't be removed. This new model has a hefty pin that slides through the hinge -- pull that out and you can lift the lid right off. This will make it possible to simply roll the bin over to a planting bed, remove the lid, and dump the contents right where you want it! If you're used to a larger composting bin, "The Cutest" looks alarmingly small. However, on reflection I realized the small size has several big advantages: * When the old huge one was full, it was so heavy I couldn't turn it all the way over to mix the contents. This one will be maneuverable enough for an old lady to rotate without putting her back out. * Because I now will be able to rotate the tub every few days, the composting process should occur more quickly, especially in Arizona's outrageous summers. * It doesn't take up a galumphing amount of space. If you live in a townhouse or in one of those tracts where houses are on such tiny lots they're essentially what we used to call "patio homes," this small composter can be stored unobtrusively. It shouldn't get in your way either in terms of climbing over the furniture to get to your grill or visually, in terms of uglifying the patioscape. It really IS very cute, btw. * It's just the right size for container gardening. One tubful from "The Cutest," when mixed with some garden dirt or potting soil, will send your potted plants into a frenzy of plant joy. * Because the tub's size is very manageable, it will be easy to roll it across the yard and park it next to the pots and flowerbeds where I'd like to use the finished compost. Probably a youngish, reasonably fit man could pick it up, even if it were full. This will simplify one's gardening life considerably. Matter of fact, the smaller size looks like such a big advantage that I'm now thinking I'll wait a few months, until I have some more money collected, and then buy another one. This will allow me to have two tubsful of compost in different stages of progress. That way, you would never be "out" of compost -- when one barrel ran low, the other would be close to ready. A first for me: The first time "5 Stars" really DOES mean "I love it!"

Having never composted before, and living in a rural area where wild critters are abundant, I needed a composting solution that was easy for me, effective, and "smarter" than local wildlife. I purchased my 1st of these in April 2016 and used my 1st batch of compost on my garden this spring. Based on a year's experience, I just purchased a 2nd one (both with 35 gallon capacity) so that I can fill one and let the decomposition finish in it while I start using the 2nd. Since I live in Vermont, the composting process is slow for at least 6 months. Based on the past year's experience and my climate, a full 12 months is required for material to compost fully. FYI, I left the 1st barrel outside all year and it handled the freezing temperatures and snow just fine. A few comments: I do not collect the "tea" ... I tried it in the beginning, but the production was so much, so fast I was overwhelmed and knew I would never use enough to keep up. I decided to just let it drain to make my life easier; the drainage holes work quite well. I agree with other reviewers that pouring out the tea is awkward and messy. I'm somewhat perplexed by a few reviews that said rotating the barrel is difficult once it fills. Yes, it does get heavier, but I never struggled (I am a 5'2" 65+ baby boomer with only average upper body strength). The only time I had trouble rotating the barrel was when it was snowed in and that's on me because I chose not to clear away the snow or ice. And while I agree emptying the barrel once it is full requires some effort, I follow the instructions to take the barrel off of the base, remove the door completely and roll it over to dump out the compost. Yes, I do have to scrape stuff out, but I don't consider this a problem.

The product itself is really well made. I saw with older models they used a metal latch and since improve upon that with a plastic latch. I believe that improvement made a big impact. I don't have much to say about the compost tea since i haven't used it yet really. But you really need to have your compost complete or removed from the base to access compost tea. I only wished they added more weight to base. Because when the base is empty and you have heavy barrow, the base can really move around when you turn it. I wished they added some friction to the base. In 2016, I bought my first Envirocycle mostly because I wanted to create my lawn and garden soil without relying on fertilizer. I didn't know anything about composting or about the C:N ratios when I started. My first batch was way off because it was too moist and it had too much greens. Although my waste did compost, I found myself constantly adding more material to the compost, which prolonged the composting time. I got these big balls of black mush. I was quite disappointed with my first batch, but I was nevertheless determined. In 2017, I bought myself a compost thermometer here on amazon REOTEMP FG20P Backyard Compost Thermometer - 20" Stem, Fahrenheit with Composting Instructions. Instead of adding the materials bits in bits, I just put materials into 5-gallon containers before. With these 35 gallons, i usually have like 1-2 containers of greens and 3-4 containers of browns. I also bought myself a second tumbler so that I don't have to wait for the first one to complete because kitchen scrapes do fill up fast! This time around i made sure all my materials are well distributed because of 1) aeration and 2) to avoid clumps. I also made sure it was 4/5 filled because you really do need that critical mass to keep the pile toasty or it'll just die out fast. From my experience, rolling it 3x every 3 days does produce sufficient results. If it's 70 degrees outside and doesn't heat above 90 oC within the first day, then you got the problem. It's either you have too much/little Carbon, too much/little Nitrogen, too much/little Moisture, or too much/little oxygen. It should really reach 100 oC to 120 oC before your second turn. After 2-3 weeks, most items are barely recognizable. And within 4-8 weeks you should have your finish material. i'm on my 3 & 4 batches with images provided. Hopefully, my 3rd try is will produce even better results. I'm really hoping to get that nice black soil consistency. I always gotten those black ball clumps, which might mena that i have too little carbon and/or that it's too moist. I'll probably add a bit of peat moss a week before i use the compost for soiling my lawn. and the other barrow i'll mix perlite and peat moss for my garden. if i have time, i'll post some additional photos of the envirocycle composting my piles. happy composting!

10 years ago, I ordered my first Envirocycle composter. I LOVED IT!!!! Within a month, I ordered two more. 10 years and a zillion PERFECT BATCHES of compost later, one of my composters suddenly no longer latch securely enough to rotate. Because of the weight of the compost against the door, I found I had to tie the drum each time I rotated. As you can imagine this quickly became a nuisance. I wrote to the company and asked if they could help me figure out a remedy, thinking maybe this had happened to another customer. The same day, they wrote back, APOLOGIZED for the inconvenience this had caused me and...................are you sitting down????..................sent me a brand new composter free of charge!!!!! I almost had a heart attack! I repeat, my three composters are TEN years old (BTW: They look brand new)........... and the company sent me a new one.....free of charge!!!!! This is the finest composter on the market, with an incredible company that stands behind their product. I propagate all my flowers from seed, then plant in my homemade Envirocycle compost. They say a picture's worth a thousand words.........................

It's been about a month since I got my Envirocycle. I love it. Most important is, my first batch of compost is almost ready. I'm blown away by the functionality and ease of use. This is my 3rd composter. I gave the others away; I never got compost. I almost bypassed the Envirocycle because I thought I knew what I wanted. For weeks I researched composters, trying to find the best one for me; glad I didn't make another costly mistake. There are many, many reasons I chose the Envirocycle: The name, the Most beautiful Composter in the World made me laugh -- and that's what prompted me to look at it. I had been pondering a double, but, once I started reading about the Envirocycle, I realized I had almost made a 3rd mistake. According to reviews, some people had compost after a month -- so why would I need two small compartments when in the same amount of time, I'd have 35 gallons?! There is absolutely no assembly required. You take the two parts out of the box, set the tumbler part on top of the base... and you're done! The quality is amazing. It's BPA free and there's a 5-year warranty (with restrictions, but wow!) plus terrific customer service. I called upon them initially with questions and they couldn't have been more helpful, proving this company truly stands behind its products. We even had a good laugh together. I'm a puny senior and I have no problem turning the tumbler, or moving the composter around. Additionally, and oh so important to me is, I'll be able to use the Envirocycle all winter; and by springtime, I'll have compost already brewing for next year's planting. The latch is easy for me, too, as I can just push it open when my fingers hurt. I don't have to grab it like most people would do in order to open or close it. It also provides beautiful liquid gold. Because you can mix and match the drain plugs, the liquid can either remain in the tumbler, or, like I did, you can set it up to collect in the base to be used as needed. I've also decided that if I need to expand, it'll be with a second Envirocycle. Had I not found the Envirocycle, I don't know which other I would have chosen; none of the others actually met my requirements.

Love the fact that it is self contained and keeps critters away. It does smell a little and leaks a little liquid when we spin it so we keep it near the back fence. This is our 3rd year using it. We compost all our fruit and vegetable matter and add leaves as necessary and it's big enough to last our family of 6 for a year. It decomposes quite quickly but we we are in a very hot climate ( Texas ) Our only complaint is that the plastic latch sort of keeps the lid closed , but it releases when we spin it and compost flies out. So that's why we use a nail to keep it closed. ( See photo ) I guess we could order a new lid but I would recommend they design a better latch as it seems inadequate over the long term. Wish every household had one - there is so much organic matter going into the garbage - especially in cities that don't have curbside compost pickup.
