Very sturdy !!!!! Great product
I had to replace a drop bar that bent. I'm so impressed with this product. It's so much better than the one we had before. Also much easier to install. It has 2 pieces for the frame that holds the bar instead of 1 big piece.

Great solution for double doors
Great heavy duty rod to hold any door. Doors need to be apart when closed at least half inch to mount this rod. Turn 90 degrees to recess rod and fix to ground. Door clearance to ground not more than 3 inches for heavy doors. Very good solution for double doors!

A must have to keep my gates from moving!!
I live in Oklahoma, need I say more? I recommend this to anyone that needs their fence to stay put. Our fence takes a beating with the Oklahoma winds. It not only helps to keep the big gates open, it helps to secure them when shut and locked.

it works
It was easy to install and it looks like it's going to last for a long time. It's been over 6 months and still looks like the first time I installed it. Not a problem since installing it. Good quality and value.

Heavy duty and easy to install (at least on wood)
This is definately heavy duty. Easy to install. If the bottom of your gate is further than 4 inches from the ground you may consider the longer version.

Strong, Sturdy, Simple. It gets the job done!
Pro: Sturdy, Smooth Operation, Includes Hardware Con: Cheap Packaging, No locking option Overall: A sturdy, tough, and good looking rod that does its job effectively and efficiently. I like to think of myself as a DIY handyman. I am always trying to build, fabricate, and assemble all sorts of projects around my house. Whether it’s hanging drywall, or building a fence, I am always looking to end up with a perfect finished product. Quality materials are essential to any project. The Boerboel 24" Heavy-Duty Drop Rod is one of the best pieces of fencing hardware available on the market. It’s combination of durability and cost are second to none. Strength: The Boerboel 24" Heavy-Duty Drop Rod is one strong piece of hardware. The rod is over ½” in diameter which refuses to bend. At over 24” in overall length, it is able to stick far into the dirt to hold a gate solidly in place. The brackets are made of thick gauge steel which means they won’t break or buckle. Finish: The Boerboel 24" Heavy-Duty Drop Rod comes nicely finish in a weather resistant black powder coating. It looks a lot nicer that the shiny silver coated products that I commonly find at hardware stores. It has been tested to ASTM B117 construction specifications to withstand 10 years of continually weather resistant use. Hardware: The Boerboel 24" Heavy-Duty Drop Rod knocked it out of the park when it comes to included hardware. It came with all the needed fasteners for a fast, easy, and simple installation. The package included four large lag screws to ensure at solid hold in the wooden or metal post. The brackets were painted the same color as the rod, and were made from thick plate steel. This rod came with two bracket, instead of one, like some other rods on the market. The packaging was kind of flimsy, so a screw almost fell out on the ride home. Lucky for me, it stayed right where I needed it. Installation: As I covered before, the installation was simple, fast, and easy. The brackets have two screw holes each which allows for a very snug fit that counteracts any wiggling. The screws can be driven with a manual screwdriver, or an electric driver. The rod simply slides into the brackets after they have been attached. Function: This was my main criteria for the The Boerboel 24" Heavy-Duty Drop Rod. I could care less about hardware if the item doesn’t serve its purpose. This rod slides through the brackets very smoothly. I can quickly raise the rod to open my double gates. The rod has small ears which allow the rod to stay raised while the gate is swinging. I don’t have to hold up the bolt while opening/closing the gate. This is a lifesaver.

Solid and easy to mount. Attractive as well!
I had a conventional galvanized steel drop rod, but when I bought a black gate, I wanted to nice rod. This one mounted perfectly, and is very attractive. The only thing on this is that I had to file down one set of the notches to get it to go the depth I wished it to. I really don't think the notches are necessary to begin with, but it was not a big deal to file these down.

Nice heavy duty rod
Went to home Depot and they don't sell it in store so I order thru Amazon and one later it arrived. Extactly what I needed for my gate.

Strong and Sturdy.
I mean it's right there in the title, Heavy-Duty, this sucker is strong and leaves little concern on how it will hold up. Install was easy. I was only able to secure one bracket, but that's not the drop rod's fault, that's all on me, I'll eventually get around to adding more lumber so I can secure the other bracket
