Definitely worth the effort and cost!!
We have used this product for years. We tested its durability on steel garage doors by applying this product on one and then not using it on another. What a huge difference. The door that had the rust converter applied has lasted over 8 years, the other has been repainted after applying the rust converter. We also used it on our metal roof on the pole barn. It's been 3 years and counting and looks great!!!

Small price, HUGE result
Purchased this product for a 25 year old rusted out trailer. Knocked off loose paint and rust chunks, applied this rust converter, allowed to set up and painted over. Turned out tremendous! Saved days of sanding or wire brushing by converting the rust. And the finish primer grabbed onto the spray paint like a fiend. Very satisfied with product, simple application and quick result. Thanks a bunch!

Great rust converter.
It converts the rust. I used it on a grated trailer ramp and it did a great job. Imagine trying to sand that. It must be painted, but you have to wait 48 hours. Yes, it will turn white if it gets wet, but returns to clear when it dries, so if an unforecast shower comes through, you just need to wait a bit longer. Update, June 2018 - I've used this on three additional projects and could not be more pleased. The 48 hours to topcoat is tough to deal with, if the item you're coating cannot be kept well covered. Even morning dew will cause the coating to turn white - not sure if that technically requires another 48 hours, but I top-coated the next day and it seems fine.

This works great its just as effective as the lock tight rust ...
This works great its just as effective as the lock tight rust converter that costs 12 bucks for 6 ounces. Keep in mind you will need to paint over this with a high quality paint, Remove the loose scale. Wash off loose rust and dirty, if you have grease wash with a degreaser Use this this when its above 60 out. All of these rust converters that are milky white are the same, Some tannic acid, and phosphoric acid with a acrylic polymer. The phosphoric acid lowers the PH of the base metal, then the tannic acid converts the FeO2 into FeO3 aka black rust. The acrylic dries and Voila you have primer. And technically this is a self etching primer too since it has phosphoric acid in it. Dont expect this to fix your rusted out POS with a giant holes. Expect this to do an amazing surface rust and some minor scaling, This will slow down some worse rust but wont eliminate it.. This is great for treating rust repair before you put body filler on it will prevent the rust from coming back.

Affordable and effective
I bought a gallon of this stuff from here over two years ago. I've used it a couple times on small scale with mixed results. Just recently I decided to really give it a major test. I was trying to restore a Jeep Dana 35 rear axle. It had really bad rust all over. Here's pretty much the step by step what I did: 1. I cleaned off all the loose rust and chips with wire wheels and whatnot. 2. I cleaned the areas with mineral spirits (I'm not exactly sure if that was the right thing to use, but that's what I had so oh well.) And let it dry thoroughly. 3. Coated areas fully with rust converter. Goes on white/cream color and turns bluish, then black when dry. I let it dry for about an hour and then added a second coat. A little of this stuff goes a long way btw. 4. I let it cure for 2-3 days. 5. I painted with rustoleum professional rattle can flat black. 2 coats. No primer. Let dry for about a hour before second coat. After about a week everything is cured and it feels like a solid job. The paint is hard enough to meet my standards and it over all looks great. I can't speak for longevity, but initially I think the axle will hold up okay. Only time will tell.

Some of the best Rust Converter I have ever used.
This rust converter is as good as it gets. The neg. reviews must be first time users that do not understand that not all rust or metal will act just the same. I am restoring a 1949 chevy and have used one gallon so far. Getting ready to order my 2nd gallon.

Finally a product that does what it says and saves a lot of time!
I am a professional painter and I have used this product on multiple projects both large and small. It always performs wonderfully and saves me a LOT of work. I merely have to sand down the rough and loose rust, clean, and brush on a coat of this Ultra Rust Converter followed by a second coat a little later. Then I cover with a good quality paint. No primer required! Though the instructions recommend oil-based paint, I have used latex to good results as well though some bleeding of the black converted rust may occur.

Works Great
I am using this product on my 1997 F250 frame. The frame is in various stages of rusting and so far I have used a wire brush to knock off any scaling that is there and scuffed up the rest of the surface. I have applied a couple of thin coats of the Rust Converter within a 20 minute time frame. The next day the frame was a nice black finish. So far this has worked just as they say it should. Over the next couple of months I plan on finishing up the rest of the truck frame and then coating it in a couple layers of paint. I would recommend this to anybody.

Good Stuff, excellent reults
I bought an out door wood boiler that had caught fire and was left out in the elements. This caused extensive rust to the exposed metal and especially under the foam insulation where water pooled and never dried out. I removed the foam and wire wheeled the metal to remove loose rust and dirt. I used a paint gun to apply the rust converter in 5 coats with a 30 to 60 minute wait time between applications. Each coat turned turned the rust darker and harder. I let it cure for 48 hours as instructed. The resulting finish was an extremely hard and paint ready. The metal started out rough and finished with a smooth surface. I will be buying this again..

Works as advertised
I’ve used this to seal some parts under my car. Works exactly as advertised and much cheaper than other brands. Make sure to shake it well before using and remove all loose rust with a wire brush. It truly did turn the rust black, now I’ll see if that actually helps. I paired this with 2 coats of Rust-Oleum Professional Undercoating Spray and will see how it prevents further rusting. Will update down the road after it’s taken a beating :) One negative is I’ve read if you brush on metal that isn’t rusted it will give a clear coat and seal in the metal anyways. However, all non-rusted metal for me turned white (see photos)
