I love this! It does a great job while still keeping many of the nuts whole after their cracked open. It is high-quality and sturdy and I love the feel of it in my hand. May be a bit difficult for those with arthritis depending on what you are tryingto crack, but I still highly recommend it. If you know someone who loves nuts, They would love it

Works on all nuts

Opening nuts in a shell can be very frustrating. I had tried the traditional V shaped opener, a hammer, and a toothed pliers. I tried to roast them, and then open them. Nothing worked consistently until I found this on Amazon! This time of year mixed nuts in the shell can be found in supermarkets, and this gadget nut cracker is a 'must' to open them with a smile on one's face. It would make a great gift. Now I can buy nuts in the shell year round and be happy about it...no stress!

Cute and easy to use

Bought this as a gift for my 95 year old mom. She was still using an old metal cracker and it was difficult for her to squeeze it. She is able to turn this and crack nuts. Plus, it’s so cute in the nut bowl. I love it, and so does she.

Super cute AND functional!

It has a nice weight in your hand, it's super cute, and it works!! I was worried but it cracked open every nut we tried. I was also worried about how hard you would have to twist it, but my video-game-obsessed 10-year-old had no problem cracking through them all! On a side note, did you know that walnuts really DO take scratches out of wood furniture?? Happened to crack open a walnut with this guy and decided to try it... Great product! It's going to sit on my dining room table with a bowl full of nuts from now on :)

Love this nutcracker

Love this nutcracker. I have used it only for hazelnuts and walnuts but it has been great. It reduced the mess significantly and it cracks the nuts much better. With other nutcrackers the shells go everywhere and sometimes you end up cracking the nut as well. Not with this beauty. You wont go wrong with this. It's easy to use, and doesn't require the strength of the Hulk to crack a nut. I would definitely buy it again.

Works perfectly

I have never had a nutcracker like this. I just opened a bunch of hazelnuts and almonds and not one broke. I didn't get the walnut out in two pieces but it was in four instead of a million. It's not a chore because you dont have to put any strength into it. Seriously this thing is freaking awesome. I paid fully for it too, waited like 2 weeks for it to actually ship to hawaii -_- that was amazons fault though. So yea, not a paid review but this little mushroom guy is freaking awesome. I'll update if it breaks or something but it feels pretty solid.

It works well and can safely be operated by (older) kids. The shell is contained in the hollow, no big mess. We've cracked everything from hazel nuts to Brazil nuts with this.

Opens large nuts, like walnuts, with more certainty and less mess

Handily opens walnuts, hazelnuts, almonds and brazil nuts with a lot less mess (broken shells littering the tabletop or floor). Cracking the nut shell requires a wrist twisting motion akin to opening a small jar. After cracking the nut shell, another slight twist will break open the shell. This design is a big improvement vs my old nutcracker (two handles with a hinge at one end) especially for large shells, like walnuts. It can be displayed on the shelf when not in use. Oil from the nut is starting to change the wood color inside the chamber below the screw -- over time I hope this will enhance the hardwood appearance.

Elegant Natural Design

I've used this on the pacific northwest mixed bag-o-nuts and it was fantastic! But, right now, it's Filbert season (hazel nuts) in the great northwest and I can crack and eat a Filbert every 5 seconds. I've been recommending this to all my friends and I'm purchasing a second so me and mine can enjoy the local nuts at the same time. Also, as something of an engineer, you just have to admire the elegance of the design with natural materials.

The best nut cracker I've ever used - I use it every day

I love this nut cracker!! It's the best I have ever used, and I've told a lot of people about it. I eat nuts almost every day and it's cheaper to buy them in the shell. Plus for me, having to crack the shells is enough work to keep me from eating too many. This nut cracker is great because I don't have to worry about pinching my fingers anymore. I used to like the metal ones but they were a little too difficult and scary for me. This nut cracker works by screwing a corkscrew down onto the nut until it forces it to crack and split open. The shape of the nut cracker also keeps your shells contained, especially if you keep one hand over the opening and then you can just dump it all out into your dish. I think it cracks the nuts open better than the common metal nut crackers- I get so many whole nuts, even the Brazil nuts which are the most difficult. I highly recommend trying this if you love cracking nuts. Plus it looks kind of cute on your table or counter.
