I put a bunch of small rocks in the bags and velcrowed them to the metal poles of the gazebo in my at times extremely windy yard. My gazebo has 6 poles and I only bought a 4 pack. Had a very bad wind in a storm last night and they worked like a dream. I just wish I had them when I was visiting a relative on a windy West Hampton Beach over the summer when I set up a small tent/shelter on the oceanfront beach to protect me from the sun. Bring the bags to the beach, fill em up with sand, velcrow wrap them around the post, and no worry that the sun shelter would fling into the air down the beach and potentially hurt someone. These bags are well made and of excellent quality. Go for it!!!

Was always looking for the easiest way to secure the pop-up at the tailgating events (when on non-stakeable surfaces). Cheap, secure, and you can customize the weight. While the bags are not the most secure ate holding sand (velcro closure), one could use rocks. Or we simply filled large plastic bags with sand and tied them off. The benefit - the sand is secure and mildew potential is low as the bags dry out faster as they are the only thing that gets wet in the rain. They are very easy to pack and go for the games! Are they durable? A friend borrowed them for an entire summer this year to use for a pop-up at their pool when an unexpected fire wipe out their pool gazebo. They are little sun bleached, but they worked like a charm. I don't expect I will have to replace these for quite some time.

Used them last weekend and SO glad I had them! We were at an outdoor craft show and the winds were 15-25 mph. So thankful we had these. They're lined so you just pour your sand in and you're ready to go. One warning though...if you fill them completely, they're very heavy. Get you some help :)

Top quality bags to hold down your canopies. I love the quality and sturdiness. They have been through some hellish weather and they look amazing still. I suggest using Scotch Gourd if u are leaving them out 24/7.

These are easy to use and easy to carry. Figuring out how to wrap them up tight for transporting was a little bit of an issue because of all the straps. First, the top folds down twice to velcro in place, like a brown paper sandwich bag your parents gave you to take to school. Then you fold the two lobes of the bag toward each other, compacting it into a solid chunk. Then there is a velcro strap that wraps around the center of this chunk horizontally. Velcro that tight, and the strap that runs down the back becomes a handle to carry the bags by. After I figured that out (and I have no idea why it took so long! I guess two days, 12 hours a day will do that to you), it was easy, peasy.

Necessary requirement for our outdoor canopy, and work wonderfully. We filled gallon size Ziploc bags with sand, and put them into the bags. We figure this was an easier way to transport the bags when we take the canopy down in the winter. Each compartment held 2 sand bags (so 16 total), and totaled around 100 lbs, so def not 40 lbs per bag (160 lbs total) like advertised. Regardless, we are happy with the purchase, and they def work. First night we put up the canopy, we did not weigh it down, and a storm came through. Despite the winds not being that bad, we awoke to find the canopy had been moved a couple feet. The next day we filled and attached the bags, and haven't had an issue since.

We installed a 10' x 10' gazebo on our deck in the Sierra foothills where the wind gusts can be pretty strong and these have worked incredibly well to stabilize our structure. We have a composite deck that is 18' above the ground and I didn't want to lag into the deck, so I opted for these sand bags and voila. We'll be putting a larger gazebo on our deck near the pool and will be using these again.

I originally purchased these weight bags to secure a 10' Coleman Instant Canopy. I filled them with small grey gravel from my driveway. They're made of a very thick/heavy material that I don't believe will fray or wear much over time. The bags are also designed to wrap around the legs of a canopy, with heady duty velcro straps to secure them. Handles are attached at the top of each bad and are made of the same heavy material as the velcro straps. I've also discovered that these bags make excellent weights for my photography light stands. While they are heavy, I do believe a 40lb weight per bag is a bit of a stretch unless you find some type of really heavy material to put inside, like metal weights. I'd say they are an easy 25-30lbs with the gravel I have in them, which is more than enough for my needs. Overall great product. I don't anticipate having to replace them any time soon.

Ordered these bags (80#) for an event tomorrow. Pleased with the fast shipping. Bags appear very durable. Filled them with sand today and their first use will not be until tomorrow. Followed another reviewer's suggestion and put sand first into quart-sized freezer bags (I wouldn't recommend using lighter-weight storage bags), then filled the weight bags with the bags of sand. I used four quart-sized bags in each of the four weight bags (total of 16). I decided to do this because I thought the ziplock bags would keep the sand from getting wet, particularly if a dog decides to hike his leg on our canopy poles.

We put the sand in Ziploc freezer bags, then into these bags so there wouldn't be a worry of spills, we did 3 quart size bags per pocket (2 pockets per bag/leg) and they weighed in at about 30 pounds each. We've used these for our canopy at farmers markets and at the beach, they work great. I couldn't imagine a strong wind moving it an inch. They wrap tight around the leg and secure well with the Velcro.
