Affordable volatile gas leak detector
Pros: Affordable, Good build quality. Covers a few types of gases (refrigerant, alcohol, etc). Great value for money. Cons: Operation/steps may take a while to get it "right". If the leak is too small, it may not detect the leak. Comes with a protective pouch that is too slim. It will force you to bend the probe tip beyond the recommended bend radius, which is not good.

Paid for itself many times over with the first use
Inexpensive and sensitive unit. Great for pinpointing small leaks. Used it to refute a technician’s claim that an A/C condenser was leaking and needed replacement.

A good tool to have at your disposal if you're a DIY guy!
This little contraption paid for itself within just a few hours of me receiving it. I had a leak in my A/C system on a 2003 crown vic. it would only hold refrigerant for 24hrs. As soon as I was able, I put half a can of refrigerant to activate the compressor. I shut down the engine and started sniffing for the gas leak. I found it in less than 3 minutes. It was the low side pressure switch that was not tightened correctly when I changed out the accumulator after replacing the compressor. (Dummy, me!) I was very happy to find the problem and even happier to know that it was an easy fix after an error on my part.

Pleasantly surprised - works great
At this price point my expectations were low. This detector worked perfectly and left me pleasantly surprised. I was able to locate the two leaks in my cars A/C system which turned out to be ageing, hardened o-rings at the compressor connections. The detector went off at the site of the leaks and at the fill ports where there was some residual refrigerant from test charging the system. I found that it detected refrigerant accurately and there were no false positives. I would use this tool again with confidence. Well worth the price and exceeded all expectations.

Nice tool.
Works well. I was able to determine that there were no leaks under the hood, and determine that the leak is from within the evaporator core assembly (not good news, but at least I know). The only very minor complaint is with the installation/remove of batteries. The four AAA cells install in a holder that fits inside the battery compartment. There's a pair of wires coming out of the end of the holder that makes it a bit challenging to remove and install the battery holder -- my fear is with the possibility of damaging the wires. As I said, this is a minor issue -- just need to be careful.

Works
This does what it was supposed to do. I used a UV pen and the WJL-6000 detector to find the leaks in A/C system in my wife's car. The UV pen provided a visual as to the general areas (when the system has UV dye). I then used the WJL-6000 to confirm that both hi side and low side Schrader valves were leaking. I still have another tiny leak to find, as replacing the Schader valves slowed the leak from draining the system overnight to a 3-5 day system drain. Big thing with this is FOLLOW DIRECTIONS for use. Keep the sensor head about ¾" from any surface. Don't run the engine during testing. Ensure the system has a charge.

It works
This thing works! I cant believe how good this thing finds a leak for the price. Very James Bond like as it hones in on the leak. Beats calling out the repair guy that will most likely find something else to charge you for when quoting the refrigerator repair as happened to me when I was quoted $999 for a replacement of a compressor when in fact, my refrigerator had a small leak. Cost me $50 to fix the fridge with this unit and another part to allow me to recharge the refrigerant level to specs (bullet piercing valve that I bought on Amazon as well). I had a feeling the lazy repair guy was ripping me off because he never even checked the pressure of the refrigerant. I was right. This saved me $950, simple as that.

This seems like a good quality product at an affordable price
This seems like a good quality product at an affordable price. The alarm is nice and loud and the quality doesn’t feel cheap. It is really compact! Excellent addition to my a/c tool kit.

I find it useful for locating R134a leaks on automotive A/C systems
for the $20 I paid for it, I'm impressed. I find it useful for locating R134a leaks on automotive A/C systems.

I have had an A/C leak in my 1994 Jeep ...
I have had an A/C leak in my 1994 Jeep forever. I finally decided that I needed to find it myself and stop relying on ninety dollar and hour shops. I found the leak in less than one minute! It was in the High side Schroeder valve. All I had to do was take off the caps and the sniffer went wild.
