Like an old Apple: "It just works!".
Interesting... I wrote the review when I purchased this - I knew I did, but it's still here in my "write a review" list saying to "submit". Will do. But this is a follow-up, then, a year plus later. I totally love this "device" and have welcomed it as an important tool in my everyday life. I'm not a jeweler or stamp collector/hobbyist who needs an occasional super-magnifier. (Yes, for some of these microscopic ingredients and nutritional labels, almost any magnifier will do, and after age 40+ might be a necessity!). So the short version is that I struggle with reading except under very good light. I read magazines and books regularly, nonetheless, and often struggle with tiny print in limited light (maps, installation directions, schematic diagrams, etc.). On a computer screen it's easier than old-fashioned text, which seems to be getting smaller. Anyway, that's all to say that individual needs and circumstances vary, and the impact of eye conditions too (macular generation, glaucoma, poor vision generally, or close-point, etc. etc.) But for my intended purpose - picking it up sometimes from the coffee table strewn with magazines and sometimes mail, for a comfortable, easy read - this is the best there is. I recently bought some smaller lit glasses, with different types of lighting, as I had an issue with a 3-LED glass just recently. I decided to try the others, one at 3x power with a small super-magnifier, and the other with two small but high-power interchangeable "heads". I think they're both fine for specialized uses (gems, coin & stamp study, etc.) but not at all comfortable or big enough to hold above an entire magazine or book page, as I do with the Fancii. But I thought it useless to write to Fancii and complain, and had no expectations after this time of thinking it's under any warranty, but... surprise! I wrote to ask if there are any other similar-sized products as this, and explained how I lived this but recently the LED's (or their circuitry) bugged out. I wrote because they ask for feedback! Well, I was rather shocked to hear back within hours - on Memorial Day! - saying that what I encountered is not at all normal, but must have a defect, and... they replaced it! I just got the new one, and am really happy to have it back on the coffee table to pick up as needed, to read the fine print on the day's mail, or take with me to enjoy a small-print paperback book in a chair with less than optimal light. Perfect for me at least, nothing bad to say, and lots of appreciation for the company. Original review below, unaltered. (Wonder if this/both will post this time, Amazon!) ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Really, this is a nice tool, for occasional use and/or assistance with fine print or micro-diagrams on paper. It's bigger than I'd imagined - sort of Romper Room mirror size if that rings a bell. Not really heavy, though, despite taking 4 AAA batteries. And did I say "big"? I'd probably not use it for reading a whole book, but a magazine, sure. It's handily sized and the weight is balanced. What else? The light really does make a huge difference, even in daylight or ambient light. But the glass alone is also bright, native. I liked that the instruction booklet - obviously reflecting how many must be sold specifically by Amazon - has instructions at the end on how to leave feedback. Well! OK, thanks to the magnifier I could read the booklet! Actually, it's a usable size (the directions) with easy diagrams (the battery compartment and on/off switch, basically). Good info on how to leave an Amazon review, too! But they deserve one - nicely made & priced. And oh yes, nearly forgot, it comes with a fabric sack and lens cleaning cloth too. Plain vanilla white, but functional and easy, plus the extra super-magnifying circle within the main lens is really great too - having used it (with illumination) to decipher some serial numbers on tags and watch backs in its inaugural use. So glad I "upgraded" from the tiny, scratched & smaller versions I've had around for years, some of limited use. This one just works!

Almost perfect for reading at home, and an excellent value
Our elderly parents all have vision problems, two of them are legally blind. We've tried many different magnifiers and eyeglasses. This 5.5" "magnifying glass" is lightweight and provides a large, well-lit area of magnification that makes it excellent for reading.at home. I was a bit concerned that 2X would not be powerful enough, but combined with the size of the lens it allows the user to see a large field of vision, perfect for reading sentences in books and newspapers. The "scratch-resistant" acrylic lens and ABS plastic rim and handle minimize the likelihood of damage if it is accidentally dropped. The light switch is conveniently located, and the three bright, long-lasting LEDs are powered by 4 common AAA batteries. We have at least 10 other illuminated magnifiers that we've purchased and tried over the past few years, and this one is clearly the best for reading newspapers, books, medicine labels, etc. it has a clean, elegant design with no serious flaws. That said, the 3 LEDs are all located next to the rim of the lens on the bottom of of the handle, not around the rim as marketing photos imply. This was a minor disappointment, but not a significant problem, and they are ideally placed for using the 1" 5X auxiliary lens to see small details clearly. There are two related problems: 1. THE BATTERY COMPARTMENT NEEDS TO BE CLEARLY LABELED FOR PROPER INSTALLATION OF THE 4 AAA BATTERIES!!! Seriously, folks, you need another magnifier to be able to make out the embossed symbols in the white plastic. I used a black fine-tip marker to mark +/- after installing the batteries improperly twice (the correct battery orientation should be obvious but is NOT, and I'm an electrical engineer). Fortunately I didn't damage the LEDs. 2. If you set the magnifier down, you probably won't be able to tell if the LEDs are still on or not. Elderly users tend to be forgetful and leave the LEDs on, running down the batteries - a common problem with almost all battery-powered magnifiers. We have another magnifier that automatically turns on when you hold the handle - a good idea, but it takes a bit of getting used to (you have to grip the handle a particular way) and the handle is a bit fat. Addition of a small indicator LED (red or green) next to the switch on the top side of the handle would remind users that the LEDs are still on - a big improvement, and relatively easy to do. An auto-off feature using simple motion sensing would be even better. Batteries aren't cheap or friendly to the environment, these features would add value. I hope Fancil is listening, perhaps they'll send us a prototype?

Great Magnifier
This is the best magnifier I've ever used. I bought two, one for my husband and one for myself, as we are both visually impaired and need magnification for most tasks. This magnifier's large diameter allows for unobstructed views, and - best of all - there is no distortion anywhere in the lens, including the edges. The frame is sturdy, batteries are simple to install, and the magnifier is lightweight and easy to hold with its ergonomic handle. The magnifier is nicely boxed and comes with a carrying pouch and cleaning cloth. Like another reviewer here, I was concerned that 2X wouldn't afford enough magnification - but the quality of the lens, coupled with the brightness of the LED lights, offsets that issue and I use this magnifier for tasks that used to require 3.5X magnification. My husband agrees that this is an excellent, yet very affordable, product.

This Is A Great Product.
This reading "tool" works well and enables me to read extra-small-print books. The books I speak of are of the type that heretofore I always returned because the print was so small as to be ridiculous. I happen to have received such a book via Amazon recently, but instead of returning it I decided to try this Fancil product. It works exceedingly well -- better than I expected. It is not too heavy when used while seated in a chair, though I do place a pillow on my lap on which to rest my book-holding, left hand. The lens is large enough that a user doesn't have to move the magnifier around in order to read an average-size page. I find that I don't have such good results if I try to rest the lens on the page; however a user doesn't have to lift it very far off the page for it to work well. Like most magnifying glasses, this one is not designed to rest on the page being read. I'll mention that I wouldn't find this product comfortable for reading in bed while fully reclined. I'd soon get tired of holding the glass up above my eyes. I add that I don't know of any glass that WOULD be comfortable when used while fully reclined. It comes with a soft, draw-string bag in which to keep the glass when not in use. It also has a soft cleaning cloth. Batteries (4 AAA size) are not included. The unobtrusive light system is nearly perfect as far as I am concerned. Your reviewer is 85 but has pretty good eyesight with eyeglasses. I do not require large-print books. I only need the glass for the smallest print that is not often encountered. But I feel pretty sure that the glass will aid a reader whose eyesight is in decline. Generally I don't go into this much detail when reviewing a product, but I really like this one.

I ordered the magnifier for my Mom after reading the reviews on Amazon. She has cataracts which need to be removed to help her see better but can't have the surgery right now for other health problems. Both of us were so excited when the package arrived and rightly so. The magnifier coupled with the bright light works perfectly. Text of whatever she is reading is not distorted and it's not too heavy for her to hold while reading. This has been an answer to a prayer for my Mom. Thank you! Update: Over time the magnifier proved to be just what Mom needed; however, the light started flickering and wouldn't stop unless turned off. I contacted the company through Amazon for resolution. The company could not have been more accommodating - they quickly sent Mom a replacement at no cost and did not require her to return the product. Amazon Prime is wonderful - the company provides a way to contact vendors when an issue needs resolution and receives copies of emails about the problem, It goes to show that Amazon is devoted to customer service and is diligent about picking companies who provide products who share the same philosophy.

A VERY GOOD MAGNIFIER for aging eyes
I have bought a half dozen magnifiers - most lighted - as my eyes weaken. Of all the brands, THIS IS THE BEST ONE I HAVE. Some say it isn't powerful enough. Hardly a fault of the magnifier - its power is clearly stated. More a criticism of the reviewer for not knowing what he wanted. This is a very good magnifier - I will probably order more. I admit the light could be brighter - but it is as good as all (but one) that I have. I like this magnifier a lot. If you want a good one (that doesn't image bacteria, I admit), I'd highly recommend this one. p.s. I have no idea who makes it.

This works Great for Me.
This magnifier arrived on time and was well packaged. This has a large handle that is easy to grip and a very large viewing area and the magnifier seems very solid to the touch. The image is in focus without any distortion on the sides The glass is 5.5" in diameter and provides 2X magnification with a smaller area near the handle which provides 3.5X magnificationFancii Large LED Handheld 2X Magnifier with 3.5X Zoom - 5.5 Inch Oversized Illuminated Distortion-Free Magnifying Glass with Light For Reading, Exploring, Inspection, Electronics, Hobbies and Crafts. The unit comes with 3 LED lights that are controlled by a switch; the lights are very bright and they light up a large area. The lights are either on or off and there is no way to dim the lights, not that I would need that feature, I find that the lights work great. The lights require 4 - AAA batteries(not Included) I was planning on using rechargeables in the unit, so that is not a problem. I haven't had the unit long enough to measure how long the batteries last but since it uses LEDs it should give fairly decent battery life. The magnifier comes with a soft cloth bag(black velvety type of material) that is closed by drawstrings. A lint free cleaning cloth measuring approximately 5"x5" is included with the purchase. It removes fingerprints from the glass like a champ. I am very happy with my purchase and highly recommend this magnifying glass.

Ten Stars!!!
I would give this 10 stars if I could. First, it's large; not too large and definitely not small. I received so many comments at the office that I bought one for a co-worker - we read contracts and maps with little tent tiny print. It easily fits in your hand, has a small circle of greater magnitude for even smaller text, and best of all, a light which comes in handy in our file room where the tall cabinets block light. I'll probably also buy a few for give-away prizes at an upcoming event. Thank you Fancii Optics!!

A Great Magnifier. Just the right size.
This magnifier is great. I was concerned that the size might be too big and uncomfortable to hold while reading at length. Such is not the case at all. It is just perfect. I would not want it any smaller. I have 20/20 vision, but my doctor suggested I get reading glasses so as not to strain my eyes reading all the time. This magnifier does the job for me so that I don't have to strain my eyes. And now I can read every laundry tag on my clothes with no problem. This is just what I needed.

My second eyes!
I received my Fancii Large LED magnifier today, put the batteries in and used it continuously. I really like it. It's big, I don't need to move my hand up and down so much to read a page. I used it first to see behind my dvd player to reset it. The bright LED lights showed everything up clearly. This is a must own for people with poor eyesight! I have cataracts and it really helps. I can tell this magnifier will be used over and over. I'm very pleased with it. It's not too heavy either. I had to use another magnifying glass to insert the four AAA batteries, but that was not too much of a problem. I can see using this magnifier a very long time. Finally, something that does what it advertises. Update: After using it for month I still like it and rely on it many times daily. If I could get another one with a higher magnification, I would do it in a heartbeat. This one only magnifies 2x, I need about 4x to be able to see some really small text. The smaller magnifier does help with tiny print, but I would love to have the whole 5.5" magnifier with that magnification.
