My vet recommended this food for my 8 year old puggle as these dogs tend to gain weight as they age. She lost 2 pounds in the first month of use. It also has good ingredients without a lot of fillers. I will keep my dog on this even after she gets down to her proper weight because it is also a maintenance food so she will not regain the weight. There are directions on the bag for recommended amount to feed if you are going for the weight loss or maintenance of weight. Some people may not realize that for every pound overweight that your animal is, it adds an additional year to their age. It's not cheap food but well worth every penny to keep your dog alive and healthy as long as possible.

Great for weight loss!!!!

Our boxer loves this stuff. Got the small bites once too and he devours it. We add water because I guess it tastes better- it's how he liked his old food as well, and he's getting older. In any case, he was overweight which not helping his arthritis, so at 82# he started on this- 1 1/2 cups twice a day. He's down to 70# now 8 mos later.... which might be a little too much weight loss. Heh, we'll increase or maybe mix it with wet stuff or half and half with regular? Not sure yet, but it definitely lightened him up. I need this diet personally.

Smells really fresh!

I bought this dog food for my fat Chihuahua. When I opened the bag it smelled super fresh and yummy--I almost wanted to eat it, LOL! My little dog loves it. I moisten it with a little water for better digestion, and it makes a nice gravy. The kibble is a bit bigger than I would like--more suited for a bigger dog than a Chihuahua. The brand is trustworthy and Vet recommended, and the ingredients appear to be on the healthier side as well, so I am pleased. I was looking for a low-calorie dog food that has good ingredients from a reputable company, because I adore my pets and want to feed them right. Her normal weight sister eats Royal Canin brand, which I adore.

my dog loves,really helps control weight

Great product,good price.Product was carefully wrapped and delivered quickly and efficiently.This is a good brand of dog food to purchase if your dog needs to keep its weight maintained.I certainly will be ordering again SOON!! Our dog was overweight and the pressure was causing stress on his joints. We got him this Vitapet Advanced Strength Joint and Hip Chewables that has the great Ingredients .I know it will take some time to see a difference, but I'm happy the old beagle loves the taste and eats these willingly.

My 100 lb., 10 year old, Heinz 57 needs to lose about 10 lbs. She can be finicky but she loves Hills Science Diet Perfect weight adult. It also got a 3.5 on dogfoodadvisor.com which means its probably better than most of the stuff I eat. The velcro closer on the bag is also very convenient. There are 2 different feeding scales on the bag. One for losing weight and one for maintaining weight. I have to admit that I haven't actually measured it out so I couldn't really rate its effectiveness.

Great dog food

Well I am not the one who loves it. It's my 90 lb Golden and 65 lb Labrador who like the food. :) What I like about ordering on Amazon is the convenience of having this large bag delivered straight to my door. In fact the UPS man is so nice a lot of times when my garage door is open he will put the box that it comes in straight into the garage. The purpose for ordering Perfect Weight is to get my Golden to around 85 lbs. As any pet owner knows, it takes a long time for dogs to loose weight. This product has helped my Golden who started out at around 95 lbs. I would have no hesitation in ordering again. Besides there's a Golden on the label so I decided it had to be good for my dogs. :)

Worked for my switch from a prescription diet

I'd been spending a small fortune on Science Diet W/D from the vet because I had a diabetic dog and it was easier to keep my multiple dogs all on the same diet since they ate out of each other's bowls. Sadly the diabetic dog is gone but we kept the others on the same diet. Decided it was time for a change so I saw this online and thought I'd give it a try. So I did the usual mixing and am into my second bag and they are now on this food 100%. None of the usual change over issues and both my Golden and Pomeranian eat this. I did try out other foods, but this is the closest to what they're used too, they eat it, and there's a coupon too! My Golden even took off a few pounds! They like it so I'm definitely sticking with it.

Perfect Weight = Heathy Stool & Happy Lab

Lab, 2 years old - loves the flavor and it produces a healthy stool. We tried a couple other foods and came back to SD Perfect Weight for the easy, consist and healthy stool and .... I also like using the Perfect Weight food as my KONG frozen treat filler: soak the food in water and it swells better than any other food I have tried to swell, then stuff into a Kong and freeze (along with some other healthy fruit pieces). Makes a low calorie frozen treat. We continuously watch our Labrador's weight due to early elbow dysphasia (diagnosed at 1 year old). She stays approx 2-3 lbs over ideal weight for her - humans fault for giving additional training treats (she is the normal 'starving' Lab) and reduction in daily exercise. GSD, 8 months old - loves the flavor too - but, it is not her food, she needs weight added to her body - so she only gets a few pieces as Treats.

The vet recommended we fees our dogs the prescription RD weight loss food because they were overweight and one of my dogs has a very sensitive stomach. The problem with this food is that where I live the only place I could get it was from the vet and it cost $80 for a 28lb bag. I decided to research other food brands and tried a few before I tried this one. This food is only 2 ingredients different than the RD prescription food and it is the only food that both dogs like and does not bother the sensitive stomach. They have been eating this food for 3 months. I just took them back to the vet and both of them have lost weight and are in the ideal weight category for their breed. I highly recommend!

Has changed our pack’s lives

Before this food our dogs were overweight and starting to get hurt too often. Now after eating this for several months they are slim and active! They jump on the couch and in the car happily now. Our dogs are all about 7 and we needed to change their diets now for their health in old age. This food is so perfect because the dogs love it and they look so great now. They love the food too, they haven’t gotten tired of it yet and they used to get finicky over time with other foods. So grateful for this food!!!!!
