Why that small opening makes these the best!
I had a rare (haha) flash of brilliance and attached a string to the clever little opening toward the back of this opener and taped the other side of the string to my recycling bin. It hangs down unnoticed when not in use but never “walks away” as office products tend to do when you have lots of children. Now I stand over the recycling bin and open my mail with utter ease while quickly getting rid of the particles I can recycle. Efficient and very clever addition of that small hole fornuse in attaching as I’ve done. These are perfect!

The right tool for the job.
Do you get tired of opening letters only to have the rip raggedly along the edge of the envelope? Do you get tired of small paper cuts as you run your finger along the envelope flap? I did. Then at a trade show someone was handing these things out and I grabbed one. Seriously, sometimes the right tool for the job makes all the difference in the world. Using one of these I actually look forward to slicing an envelope open - the work that well. Someone walked off with my original letter opener so I went on Amazon and found these. With four to a pack I keep them strategically spread throughout the house so I always have one handy.

Super-Sharp Blade Glides Right Through Sealed Envelopes
After reading existing reviews for this product, I decided to go ahead and buy. Many cited the flimsy plastic, but a sharp blade. At four openers for under $5, I figured I wouldn't be able to find a better price anywhere else, so it was worth a try, even if the quality wasn't great. Now that the openers have arrived, I find that I agree with reveiwers: The plastic portion of the opener is flimsy; the blade is super sharp. The latter makes up for the former, as I have to exert very little effort to slide this blade through my mail. I only need to get the momentum going, and the blade is gliding right through envelopes of varied thickness without catching. The four-pack is convenient. I now have an easily-accessible letter opener in the kitchen, my home office, my husband's home office, and a spare.

The price is right...
These letter are great for the price. They cut through any envelope I throw at it without any trouble. These are just like your standard, corporate advertisement letter openers–in fact there is a ridge where a magnet would normally go and a place for advertisement text to be added, both of which are empty. Obviously, if you're buying these, you're looking for utility, and these letter openers perform their function perfectly. The seller is also very helpful–they contacted me once prior to delivery to provide an instruction manual and make sure I had no questions, and again after delivery to make sure everything arrived and was in working order. This actually felt like overkill for some letter openers, but at the same time, the gesture was appreciated.

Cheap, Sharp and Easy to Use
I've been using a similar letter opener in my office for many years. A week or so ago the plastic broke while using it. I purchased these to replace the old one and have been very happy with them. I had almost forgotten how easily a new sharp letter opener works. After using the first of these I'll have to remind myself to replace them every once in a while. A sharp letter opener works much better than one that is many years old and dull. I highly suggest picking up a pack of these. They are cheap, sharp and get the job done easily.

the first one seems to be working just fine. These are economical
After my last quick razor finally broke - after a LONG time - I returned to Amazon to order a new one. There seem to be many letter openers that look alike- and nearly all of them seem to work well, at least according to the reviews posted. I settled on this 4-pack, thinking that if the plastic were to be weak, I would have another in reserve to use. So far, the first one seems to be working just fine. These are economical, and easy to use. I am pleased with this product.

IGNORE THE BAD REVIEWS
Ignore the negative reviews for this product!! I pay attention to negative reviews. The negative reviews in this case, which admittedly were few in number, sounded VERY convincing and made me rather hesitant to buy these, but I did anyway. But these letter openers work great, period. Very low price, and they work very nicley on envelopes and on boxes closed by shipping tape. I'm pleased with this purchase, and so irritated by the erroneous (and possibly phony) bad reviews that I am taking time here to review this trivial $5 purchase.

Simply the BEST!
If you haven't used this type of letter opener, you must try it. A long time ago I received this style letter opener with an ad logo on it. I loved it and eventually lost it. Ever since, I've kept an eye out for this style and finally found it here! It zips your letter open in a flash. I will never use any other type of letter opener again. Buy it! You will love it too!

Life Time Supply? At my age, undoubtably.
When my trusty old plastic letter opener broke I found out just how much I depended on it. I had to replace it, but it was a free one with advertising on it (I don't even remember for what!) that was always at my right hand as I sat on my couch to open the mail. I'd never shopped for anything like this before, so I was surprised and delighted to find this set of 4 (with no advertising) available at a reasonable price. I should now have a lifetime supply, judging on how long my original one had lasted. The ONLY thing that these lack is a built-in magnet that held my original “at the ready” against one of the metal legs of my glass topped end table, but I’ll survive.
