I read many of the reviews, and expected to have some amount of hassle setting up and tuning this little gem. Many of those posting their reviews indicated that they had a great deal of difficulty getting the saw-blade to track properly. However; since most said that, once properly set up and tuned, the saw performed quite well, I figured the get was worth the go, and ordered one. This is not a professional quality, production band saw. They make no claims to that effect, and I did not expect to find any such thing under $500. The thing to remember is that all band saws should be allowed to cut at their own rate - pushing them to cut fast will never turn out well, even with the larger professional models. This is not for fast work, but it is extremely accurate, and the cut quality is very good. It arrived yesterday: two days, just as promised. I pulled it out of the box, attached the table. Everything went together quite well. I checked the blade tracking, and it tracked perfectly right out of the box. Even the light-weight fence and miter guide work quite well. I checked them, and they square up properly without a lot of fuss. The machine came with a 1/4 inch blade. Some people said it would come with a 4 tooth per inch one, but this is closer to 8. Made a couple of test cuts on some scrap wood, and the cut was of very high quality and smooth. I tried a radius cut, and was able to easily cut a 3/4" radius. Manual says a 1/4" blade should be good for a 1/2" radius, but I am not sure I believe it (although I haven't tried). Both rips and cross-cuts yielded very good results. Today I did my first little project. I cut a couple of pieces about 1 mm too large, and was able to easily re-cut the pieces, shaving off the extra millimeter and achieving the correct specification. Couldn't be happier! This is a great value.

This 10" saw is robust and very heavy. I wrenched my back lifting it out of the box. It's very quiet and smooth running. Assembly took me about an hour. Right out of the box it was calibrated nearly perfectly. The cast iron table is large and flat with a deviation of about .003" low in the center. The fence is great as it can be reconfigured for different needs. The miter gauge is cheap and sloppy. I will remake it to fit tighter in the slot. I have heard complaints about this saw being hard to setup but for me that is not the case. I like having the ability to be able to adjust all aspects of the saw. I don't have any major complaints. Pros - many - robust, powerful, quiet, smooth running, LED lamp, cast iron table, good saw blade ... Cons - very few - cheap miter gauge, the stand is a bit low for my taste but I will add casters later on which might improve the height.

I just received the saw today and have only cut a few waste boards. Saw itself seems well built and cuts well. My disappointment is in the quality of the fence and fence attachments. They came very banged up with poor final cuts and very sharp edges. I would not have bought this saw if I had seen it first. Update June 18 2017; Contacted WEN customer service, Steve was very apologetic and immediately sent out a new fence system. Wonderful service, love this saw:)

Many other reviews seem to focus on set up issues. I may have been lucky, as straight out of the box my bandsaw was set up perfectly. I checked tracking and tension and they seemed within spec (though I tensioned the blade up a little). I ran it for a few minutes and the blade stayed on the rollers. The table surface required a little adjustment to level it, otherwise it was good to go. I have made perhaps 60 cuts through a variety of wood densities and this saw has exceeded my expectations. As long as you don't push hard and just let the blade do the cutting, it cuts straight and fairly clean. My few poor cuts were when I tried to rush it a bit and the blade would waver slightly; slow it down and gently guide the wood and cuts are predictable and straight. This saw has made my projects so much easier, quicker and more accurate, with far less finish work than I'd have had to do otherwise. Strongly recommend attaching a shop vac during each use (there is an opening at the lower back for this - I just tape the vacuum hose in place). While cutting it does not look like there is much sawdust being generated, but it quickly settles everywhere on the machine and all around; but running the shop vac during cuts there is virtually none.

Saw was easy to set up and has plenty of power for small woodworking projects. The first stock I cut was 3" thick pine on the lower speed setting. I didn't force the workpiece against the saw and it worked flawlessly. I read some reviews stating setup was complicated but I followed all directions in the owner's manual regarding setup and blade alignment and have had no problems so far. Adjustments do have to be made out of the box to ensure proper blade alignment and tension but the instructions clearly instruct you how to do this. I encourage anyone to take time with setup before just flipping the machine on and trying to cut something, if you take your time and follow the directions you won't be disappointed. Be sure that you keep ALL stand bolts slightly loose to adjust the legs with the unit standing up prior to tightening. If you do this, the stand has absolutely NO wobble at all (I didn't do this the first time). There are two very minor things with this product: 1) I wish the light were mounted on the other side of the saw as it can cast a shadow on your work. 2) The bevel gauge for the saw table is located on the back of the saw but this is a minor thing. That being said, I would definitely buy this saw again, it's perfect for me and it is very solidly built. Solid 5 stars.

Just getting into wood working and needed something to resaw boards to thickness. This works perfectly. It definitely takes some time to setup and get working, but once you get it tuned and running it is wonderful. I cut pieces so thin with this, you could see light shine through them. And the cuts are so smooth if you go slowly and get the tension right. A tip. To set the tension (it doesn't have a tension guide), I just tightened it until my blade wouldn't deflect more than a quarter inch when I pressed my finger against it. Then I loosened it a turn and turned it on. I ran a sacrificial piece of pine through it then tightened it until the cut wasn't wavy and marked that spot by the spring with a permanent marker.

After reading reviews about the WEN 10" bandsaw both here an from other sources saying setup was finicky and time consuming I nearly passed it up. Fortunately the larger cutting capacity, extra power and lower price tipped the scales over other bandsaws. It arrived when expected with no damage to the package. At 73 pounds it did take a little effort to remove it from the box, and I accepted my spouse's offer to help lug it into the basement. I fournd the directions well written with clear images to guide one along. It took about an hour to completely set it up, but a person whose hands aren't like two sparrows in a birdbath could do the job in far less time. A small adjustment was needed on the rear blade support, none on the guide. A check of blade tension proved to need a small increase. Some reviewers have commented that getting the blade to run true is difficult. Mine ran true out of the box, and after releasing the tension between use and the retightening it runs true with no adjustment needed. After performing the needed adjustments electricity was provided and some scrap two by fours were brought over. The saw cuts beautifully. It follows a straight line both cross and rip cuts So far the thickest piese used to resaw a slab was 3 3/4 inches and that cut was made with no trouble. No vibration or blade wander disturbed the cuts. Of course, this is a band saw, so the cuts aren't as smooth as those made by a quality table saw, but they are definetly acceptable, This saw is a great addition to my home shop. I can recommend it for serious consideration to any home woodworking hobbiest.

For years, my Delta 18inch, 230v, woodworking industrial bandsaw was my favorite tool. (see review) Unfortunately I had to let it go when I moved. This Wen is a light, reasonably priced, smaller version of the same basic tool. It was easy to put together. Runs beautifully. Straightforward to tune and adjust. Practical, useful, well-designed.

This little saw is better than you might expect! Before I purchased it, I read several reviews that were somewhat negative. But judging by their comments, I suspect those persons are inexperienced in properly tuning a band saw before using it. So ... I gave it a chance. And sure enough, after carefully tuning all aspects, it performed very, very well. I put it right to a difficult task ... re-sawing 6" mahogany. It cut straight and true with a 1/2", 3 TPI blade. Granted, I had to use a very slow feed, but it did the job. With smaller softwoods, it barely breaks a sweat. Don't be afraid to purchase this saw. If you're not experienced in tuning a bandsaw, there are some excellent YouTube videos available. All that said, this is a good tool ... for a great price!

Looked extensively at the Sears 10", Rikon 10" and Harbor Freight 9". I discovered the Wen by accident. After checking out reviews, I bought one from Amazon. Yes, it was more money but well worth the expense. There's not near the plastic in this bandsaw as there is in the others. By comparison, the others are toys. Granted, this is not a full professional bandsaw but it is a serious hobbyist tool. I cut small 3"-4" round oak and mesquite logs into knife scales with it and it works far past any expectations I had of it. The factory blade is not a quality blade and it won't last long but the saw makes great, smooth cuts that are straight. The packaging leaves a lot to be desired though. Mine looked like it came to the house on a nuclear bomb. The instructions and owners manual were missing out of the busted up box but all of the hardware was there and no damage to the saw. The online instructions are apparently old as the saw didn't go together like the instructions stated. They were using parts that weren't in the box but just a little mechanical knowledge and it goes together great. The unit comes with balanced wheels which makes for a smooth running machine. I did have issues with the two speed. Changing to the faster side of the pulley had the belt running on the mounting bolt of the motor. A little file work and that was over. The table is generous in size and the fence works great. The LED light seems like it's located on the wrong side as it comes from the backside. I've managed to get it where it's out of the way and lights the table up that even a blind man can see. The one I received was pretty much setup in regards to the blade adjustments. I didn't have to touch any of the adjustments. If I had a negative about it, it would be that it's no lightweight. If you need to move it around, it's heavy. So far, I'm loving this saw.
