I recently got into piece quilting and, after seeing a YouTube tutorial (Jordan Fabrics), decided I wanted to get a Rowenta Steam Iron w/ station base. I have NOT been disappointed!!! This iron will scare you initially, because of all the steam it shoots out when you squeeze the button (underside of the iron handle), but boy does this thing deliver!!! Between the amount and force of the steam, wrinkles disappear from fabric very quickly. Heat setting is an adjustable dial, which I really like and appreciate being able to manually choose my setting compared to a regular iron with only 5-settings. The water reservoir in the stationary base is HUGE - 1.? liters. I've only had to refill twice in the 5 months or so since I've own it - once when I bought it and again yesterday. I'm very happy I made the investment to purchase this iron. While I may have spent quite a bit for it, I'm not at all unhappy or disappointed that I did. I gave it only 4 stars for "light weight" because its a substantial iron, but not heavy either because the water isn't stored in the iron, as with most steam irons, it's stored in the station base. Yeah, I'd buy this iron again.

Why did I wait so long? Wish I had purchased years ago. Yes, it is large and a pricy, but the tank holds a lot of water and it works SO well. I sew and pressing the seams is really the secret to a good outcome. It does not take long to warm up and is the best iron I have ever had. I have ruined two "regular" irons by allowing them to fall when taking them somewhere to use on a weekend sewing trip. (I don't think I will risk it with this one!) There is a long "cord" between the iron and tank, so it is easy to use. It can also be used a a steamer. I can't say enough good things about this product.

My wife had a different brand that lasted about 4 years but when it quit I found that they discontinued that model. She reluctantly tried this one and after a week of using it she proclaimed it is much better than the previous one she had. She said this one is much lighter which at first she thought a heavier iron was better but changed her mind. One bit of advice I can give for people using these high steam generating irons is always use distilled water in them. Distilled water will lengthen the life of the iron considerably. Distilled water cost less than $1/gallon at your local store.

This iron has made my life so much easier. It's really a great iron with strong steam. I pay a lot of money for my clothes and I have had several irons ruin my clothes because of water leakage (sometimes brown) or I would be ironing and it would leave dark marks in my clothing. I would literally have to pass the iron on the board first to make sure no brown marks would transfer to the clothes. So far no problems with this iron. Only thing is that I have heard the iron making noise while I have been sleeping and it's off which is weird. But so far irons quickly and efficiently.

I love this iron/steamer! It makes ironing (a chore) so much easier. Steam is the only way to go when you have to iron. I have many delicate shirts that the iron plate cannot come in contact with - I can use the steam feature to iron these. My husband does his own ironing (sorry ladies -he's already taken) and finds the use of the steam simplifies his ironing as he only has to pass the iron over his shirts one time. This iron allows you to avoid multiple passes back and forth over your clothing. It uses regular tap water - no starch needed. I have used MANY irons in my lifetime and this is the only one I would recommend. It is worth every penny.

Fantastic iron! I used to have an holder model (which lasted for ten years) and wanted to get a new one. Ironing takes half time than with a regular iron, with less effort and clothes look much better. A professional iron, I can iron for two hours and the tank is still not empty! I didn’t give 5 stars just because it’s a bit heavy, but honestly if you have a laundry room and don’t need to move it around, then you don’t have to worry about it. I’m currently in an apartment so I keep it in storage room and get it out when I need it, but again it’s totally worth the money and a great purchase.

I had this model, or very similar, for about 20 years. When it died last week (a sad day!), I chose this model to replace it. I just did the "maiden voyage" with the new iron and steam station. The iron soleplate is now slightly smaller, but the steam power is the same, thank goodness. This is why we fans love this iron. The calc system and the Eco setting are new for me and look to be great features. It is all easy to operate, even if it is your first time. My only negatives for amazon to be aware of are that this large, heavy system was shipped to me simply in its original Rowenta box with one strip of clear mailing tape down the center seam. It was not placed inside another shipping box which you do with smaller, lighter items, which cannot break. So this is perplexing to me since this system can break and is quite heavy. Shifting during shipping broke the upper styrofoam holding the iron. The iron arrived loose in the box. Whoever first purchased my system before returning it to amazon did not lock the iron into place either when returning the system. Secondly, I quite obviously received a returned iron. Nothing was factory-wrapped in plastic and there was no factory packing except for the broken and partially there styrofoam unit. The cords were simply wound up and stuffed in without wires or wrappers. I was holding my breath when I tried the system, since my steam station was not packaged correctly and everything was inexpertly stuffed back into the Rowenta box due to it being a return. It would have been nice, amazon, to have gotten a new, unopened, untouched system for this price!

I'm one of those bizarre people who actually enjoys ironing. At least when I can use a quality iron that doesn't stain with brown spots randomly appearing like an evil fountain pen in your best shirt pocket, or run out of water needing to be refilled every five minutes. I opted for a Delonghi Pro1645, that I had for maybe 10 years based on reviews at the time and was relatively happy with it. It fit what I believed was required of a durable iron. It was heavy, no matter it's somewhat smallish footprint, and so retained heat. Several drawbacks I overlooked was that it had an insanely few amounts of steam holes on the soleplate so the steam was sort of a backup helper not the main ironing force. It required that I use heavy starch to get the job done as well, there was no way to see how much water was in the tank and it needed to cool down before opening up to add more. I always didn't stop filling in time and inevitably had a puddle to clean up after every topping off. The steam cord was also frustratingly short as well. But I thought I had the best that was out there. I've had this Rowena Steam system a month now, and I feel like I was living in the stone ages the last years of ironing! First of all, this is a proper Steam Iron with steam holes covering the entire soleplate. Second, the steam doesn't just ooze out like before but is exhaled with an impressive pressure to permeate whatever it is you're ironing, frequently eliminating the need to flip the piece over to iron both sides! Then there's the transparent tank that allows you to see at all times your water level, plus the ability of adding water on the fly without risk of being horrible scalded and disfigured for life! The steam hose is at least 50% longer than my previous iron which allows it to be so much more flexible and able to use with ease. The iron itself sits firmly upright on it's haunches while you reposition the garment on the board so it doesn't need to be put back on the silicone pad on the body each change of position. But it's literally redefined what ironing is to me. Steam has a compelling power over wrinkles and fabric so that the moist heat relaxes any fiber to release the wrinkles. I was accomplishing that with the moisture the starch supplied for years. But starch can gum things up and cause white flakes as well as shirts especially that felt more like wearing steel plated armor and not comfortable cotton. I completely stopped buying and using spray starch. Ironing a shirt takes a fraction of the time as before. Also, I don't worry about scorching anything since the steam pulse works so quickly that The iron doesn't need to stay in any spot more than a second. The cord is also extremely generous, I think it said somewhere it's 12 feet long. I don't use tap water, though it has a build in system to remove minerals. I opt for filtered water with my under sink system, to avoid any mineralization in the myriad holes and sole plate. The iron itself is comparatively remarkably light weight and I was afraid that would translate into not having enough metal to hold the heat. But the pressured steam pulse eliminates the need for a heavy dense metal iron. I already appreciated the power of steam, so have two steamers, the larger is a Jiffy Professional model that might be more for a costume designer or tailor, but I used to steam some clothing items as well. I have yet to power it up since I have this Rowena, since I can use it to steam even casual shirts on the board or even shoot steam on a garment hanging on my suit valet stand. This might seem overkill for your needs or too expensive. But even with my limited needs, I absolutely love this product. The iron itself is relatively light weight, though the tank has a substantial footprint. It heats up and is ready to go in just a few minutes. You can iron hours without needing to refill the water, but can refill on the fly, so no need to power down. The steam is incredible and extrudes over the entire soleplate with substantial clothes penetrating pressure. The steam cord is very generous in length as is the power cord. The iron sits upright very securely between passes while you reposition your garment. So far, I can't think of a single thing I don't like about this iron. Not to mention saving the cost of spray starch, which over the next two years will actually pay for the iron itself. I read all the reviews across websites and watched numerous videos from users and believe, especially if you have a large family or just require lots of ironed garments, I can't imagine any product doing a better job than this, made in France, Rowena. (A German company with obvious German efficiency, though many of their products are manufactured in the USA also.)

This iron was a big step up for me from the regular Rowenta iron I had been using for many years that finally just didn't produce much steam any longer. This iron has everything that I was looking for all in one iron -- a lighter iron, but with a separate water container to lighten up the iron itself along with an even distribution of steam via the many steam holes and a narrower ironing tip that allows getting into smaller areas and more precision. I pared this iron with the Brabantia Ironing Board with Steam Iron Rest and Linen Rack, Size C, Wide. The iron station sits perfectly on the linen rack and the rack for the iron on the side of the ironing board fits the iron perfectly. This setup also allows me to get full use of the ironing board without the iron getting in the way. It seems that some of the other reviews are a little mixed on the quality of this product, but so far this iron has been what I wished I would have had years ago.

I'm not a fan of ironing, but this iron changed my mind! I love it! My husband (this is Connor's mom writing this) is a very tall guy, so his shirts are pretty large (3XLT). I was able to iron 5 of his shirts and two pairs of his pants in 40 minutes using this iron. I couldn't believe it! When I first started using the steam station, I wasn't overly impressed. It didn't seem to be giving-off much steam... certainly not like the videos I had seen online. I checked and found there was a kink in the hose. I straightened it and it started to get better. Several minutes later, the steam seemed to "soften" the hose and the iron began pouring out steam!! Then, I was hooked! It did give-off a very unpleasant smell at first, but that only lasted a few minutes and then there was nothing at all. I read reviews saying the water canister was hard to fill, but I didn't find that to be true. I found it very simple to remove, fill and replace. The one feature I really like is the lock to hold the iron in place so the unit can be easily carried from place to place. This is honestly the best iron I've ever owned and I wish I had found it years ago. It took one of my least favorite chores and turned it into one that I actually now find relaxing! Imagine that!!! :-)
