A family member was concerned that something in their bedroom was causing allergies and other irritation, the only suspect was a little patch of stained ceiling. We considered tearing down part of the ceiling and wall to inspect the interior side of the wallboard. Knowing this action would require a fair amount of work and cost, we considered other options such as a mold testing kit. We went online and found the DIY mold testing product which included lab work and consultation at no additional cost. The ‘sample’ collection process was simple, we took the 3 ‘tape lift’ sample kits and dabbed the area being tested. We completed the order form and mailed the kits to the lab and received an E-mail with the results in short order. We then followed up with a conversation with the owner who described the type of mold and possible causes. Based on this information we can now determine the next steps to take. A good way to save time and money, do a test first before taking action.

I was hesitant about how to use this product, but it ended up being very easy. The "plates" or "slides" that you use to take samples are flexible and will not break immediately if they bend. This made it easy to form the plate around whatever object I needed to in order to take a good sample. The plates have sticky siding to them (not covering the whole plate) that makes it easy to grab sample material. I had also used a knife to remove samples and place them on the plate which was still processed by the DIY Mold Test team. Results were easy to read (in a graph format) and even had descriptions of different species of mold that they test for. Results came via email in a PDF format. This made it easy to review and understand which species were dangerous and which were not. A very cheap alternative to having a local service come take samples. Will recommend to anyone that needs to do mold testing in their apartment or house.

I had dark stains showing up on the edges of my ceiling registers, which looked like mold to me. Since I'm no expert, I purchased the DIY Mold Test from Amazon Prime. The test kit came to my house in two days (Prime), and on the third day I removed three of the seven registers in my home and took samples using the tape and recording documents provided by DIY. It was quick and easy, and I mailed the test strips and record back to the company. Within about ten days I received an analysis report by email, confirming the substance is mold, along with a detailed description of the mold. Now I know I have mold in my ducts, and that the mold is not dangerous, but could cause allergic reactions. Based on that information, I have a duct cleaning company coming this afternoon to give me an estimate for removal. Having the information from the DIY Mold Test in-hand before the estimate, I feel I have some protection against someone who might take advantage of my lack of knowledge about mold, and possible upsell by making false claims about my situation. Thank you DIY Mold Test.

I was very happy with the promptness in which I received the test kit. Additionally, the company emailed me shortly thereafter asking if I had received the kit, and if everything was satisfactory. The kit itself is easy to use, and the directions were clear. After sending the adhesive coated slides containing the samples back to the company, it wasn't long before I received the results via email. I would definitely use this company again if the need arose.

My son has had a cough for 3 weeks which doctors have declared as “allergy related”. This prompted me to purchased the diy mold test kit. I’m so glad that I did this. The test showed “low levels” of toxic mold in the ceiling in our bedroom. This prompted us to contact a local mold testing company to get our or quality tested. We had a huge mold problem and have since moved out. If you even remotely suspect mold, you need to buy this. I’m praying my sweet baby will start to recover.

After reading reviews on this product and company, I decided to try it. I am so pleased I did! The test was simple, lab fees are INCLUDED (you just pay for shipping back to the company (Under $3 1st Class Mail)), and the customer service is one of the best I have ever encountered! The results we received were detailed, and have pointed us in the direction we need to go in. I am 100% satisfied, and I highly recommend this test!

This test kit was incredibly helpful--and easy to use (I know nothing about this type of stuff). Had some superficial mold on an aluminum surface in a room where my daughter plays. Was really concerned. This kit allowed me to test a sample, send it to the lab and get the results back quickly. Luckily it was a pretty benign mold, but I still need to remove it. After doing a ton of research, was super confused as to how to best take care of it. Called the company and spoke with Michael for some quick and basic advice. He was incredibly responsive, professional and helpful. Super grateful I found this product. Crossing my fingers I will not need it in the future--but if I do, I would definitely purchase it again. (As I am re-reading this, it totally sounds like a fake review--it's not--I'm actually just a mom who is super happy with this product/service).

I bought this kit because there was a leak in the apartment above mine which led to some nasty mold growth in my bathroom. The landlord simply cleaned the surface and I wasn't convinced that it took care of the problem. The kit comes with three easy to use slides for collecting specimens which was more than enough for my need. I tested the bathroom, dust that collected from my bedroom vent (to see if spores are circulating), and some mold in the insulation of my fridge (not a concern but I had a slide to spare.) The turn around time was incredible; I received my results a lot sooner than I expected. I learned the same mold types existed in both my bathroom and in the dust from my bedroom vent. Customer service was stellar as well. Throughout the purchase process I was contacted multiple times by the service, assuring me that I can contact them with any questions or concerns I may have. I had some questions regarding the mold types found and got to speak with the lab guy. He explained potential causes for concern, variables in the collection process, limitations of analysis, and even suggested options for dealing with the problem. I didn't expect this personal level of customer service. For anyone looking for more information about mold growth in their homes, this is the kit to buy. You rarely see this level of customer service at this price point.

The results ARE accurate. How do I know? My father has a fungus in his lungs. We knew it was in the house somewhere, but Mold Inspection Network helped lead us to the culprit...the nebulizer fan blade...don't ask. We were then able to have the appropriate tests run when I told his doctor what was found on the DIY test. They do not claim to help with medical issues..I could be mistaken, but I think I could have been referred to a medical person if I wanted to be, but that wasn't necessary. I pushed for the appropriate tests and I wonder if MIM helped save his life. I am not kidding. The doctors were not going to check for fungus...I bought a test and WOW. Mold is no joke. Take your time. Read the directions carefully. Everything is there. No, I don't believe you can test the air and I don't believe they claim that the kit does test air. You have to have something that will stick to the slide. This was a relatively inexpensive first step. Our next step is calling an air quality testing company. Ugh QUICK delivery and easy to use. The results were quick and clear. Great communication and all questions answered!! We have an old house with issues. We found out some good things as well as some not-so-good, but this is something you should know. We bought a second one...and a third to test other areas. Thank you!!

This is an excellent do-it-yourself mold test kit that includes laboratory analysis. The company is very professional and sends the results in about a week via email. In addition, when the results are emailed, they give you an automated courtesy call at the phone number you provide that indicates that your test results are ready, and to check your email. They are also available via phone and/or email to answer any questions you may have, although I did not need to exercise this option. The test kit includes three slides for samples that you need to individually label, and there is a special "chain of custody" form that must be filled out that identifies you, the work site, and itemizes the samples. The form is very easy to fill out and is just another example of how this company dots the i's and crosses the t's, this is very professionally done. When you take the samples, it is very important to protect yourself, and the documentation sent with the test kit emphasizes this. Although in my case I did not think I had a serious problem, I wanted to do this test just in case to make sure. I have had a leaky bathtub for almost 10 years and I was concerned about several areas under my bathtub in the crawl space above the subfloor. I took every precaution, including gloves, a respirator, and goggles. If you do this yourself, it's worth the extra trouble to make sure you do not get exposed to something. It may seem like too much fuss, but if you think you need to test a mold problem then you must make sure to protect yourself just in case it turns out to really be a problem! Another important thing to understand, you need to interpret the test results yourself and come to your own conclusions. The results include descriptions of many common mold types, and the test includes 14 different mold types and the concentration of each, if any. This is important for liability reasons, the company thoroughly tests the samples you send and indicates for each the concentration and pollen/fragment levels for each, but obviously it is up to you to decide if you really have a problem or not. After all, you took the samples yourself. If you have any doubt at all, hire a professional, but if you can collect samples and read a test report on those samples, this kit is great!
