I bought a 2lb bag, expecting an uninspired treat that would leave much to be desired. But when it arrived in the mail at work, some of my coworkers must have sensed that something magical had arrived. People huddled around to bask in the glory of this magical treat of the gods. Upon opening this bag, we were greeted by the unmistakable fresh smell of coffee, married with the rich dulcet tones of dark chocolate. They thought they would be happy with just a few beans. But oh, how wrong they were. It didn't take long before they were enslaved by the call of this wondrous chocolate bean. As I traipsed around the lab where I work, bag in hand, people lined up with their cupped hands out, not even conscious of what they were doing. Just the sound of me pulling open my drawer and the crinkling of this plastic bag had conditioned my coworkers to the taste of chocolate and the rush of caffeine. No one was safe from this seductive allure. I had opened Pandora’s box, and in it were the couriers of cacao, at my beck and call, singing a sweet siren song of espresso. What a rush of power I had. A few shakes of the bag and the treats would trickle out like brown, chocolatey gold. I could gage how happy they were by how many shakes of the bag I gave. I felt like Xerxes on top of his golden throne. Yes, I am a generous god. Some interactions between me and my coworkers: “If senzu beans were real, this is what they would taste like.” – Coworker A “Y’all got any more of them… chocolate covered beans?” – Intern *Uncontrolled hand-tremors of withdrawal as he pulled out his wallet to buy more beans* - Manager

It's like your mouth walked into a coffee shop! I have bought many chocolate covered coffee beans on Amazon before...and they were ok....and evolved into a harden bean covered with more chocolate than harden coffee bean.So I decided to try this brand.....WONDERFUL!!! this product is perfect chocolate to bean ratio. The coffee bean seems to be slightly roasted to soften the bean to make it so wonderfully NOT hard or too crunchy and this also releases the wonderful aroma of coffee! Both smell and taste are perfect! We have had other product that last a month or month and a half....When this product arrived at home,it was a hit with everyone! and...this 2 pound bag only last less than a week! So we ordered again! and will order again!

I got hooked on chocolate-covered espresso beans that I was purchasing from a local market and thought these might work ok too. More than just ok, they are amazing! And highly addictive, sorry to say (and right after typing this more of the little buggers just jumped right out of the jar and onto the desk!). They don't seem to be overloaded with caffeine, although there is obviously some. I normally drink decaf coffee and don't get that caffeine "buzz" until the second or third cup of these beans. Just kidding. I never eat more than two cups at a time :) Seriously though, they really don't seem to be too much of a jolt for most people, but there is probably enough caffeine for those who want (or need) some.

Let me start off by saying, I bought a 5 lb. bag and the day it was delivered, I ordered another one. Why might you ask??? Because these Hoosier Hill Farm Gourmet Dark Chocolate Covered Espresso Beans are the Cat's Meow. First off, my wife who doesn't even like dark chocolate sampled a few and thought they were absolutely delicious. The only downfall is now i have to share because she got totally wired after eating a handful. i never write a review as fast as i have for this product. As i open the bag, i can smell an aroma of a coffee shop next to a chocolate shop. One of the greatest things that I love about these beans are that they are NOT more chocolate than espresso bean, they are pretty much a fifty-fifty split. I have sampled chocolate covered espresso beans from the northeast, southwest and western United States and I have never come across a product this well made and the coffee beans are not over roasted and crunchy nor is the chocolate waxy and unflavored. Grabbing a handful of these are a great pick me up and I also suggest doing the following; I add them to my frappuccinos I make at home with my blender which gives a great texture and a mocha flavor. I was not given this product or paid for a review all I have to say is that these are the real deal. I would highly recommend these even if you are not a dark chocolate lover for they do not have a bitter taste to them at all.

This product is now my go-to for at home, when taking a gift to visit old friends, and for "Secret Santa" gift exchanges. I've spent the last couple years trying out Amazon's selections for this type of treat and I've settled on Hoosier Hill. Let's talk about the three things that make this product stand out from the crowd: 1) Dark chocolate quality 2) Bean-to-Chocolate ratio 3) Resealable bag shipped w/ cold pack We'll begin with dark chocolate quality, the most important factor. It doesn't taste like "fake" chocolate. And there's no milk to hide an inferior chocolate. It tastes great. Next we'll talk about the bean-to-chocolate ratio. This too, meets my taste. It's not a dusting of chocolate on a bean; nor is it a thick ball wrapped around one pixel of coffee. The flavors & textures work in tandem when you toss some in your mouth. Neither one overpowers the other. Finally, we'll talk about how they ship your package. Hoosier Hill uses a resealable bag and they include a cold pack with your order so it doesn't melt in transit. You can reuse these packs: my freezer is nearly full of them (which tells you how often I order this product). I toss them in a cooler for road trips.

I've tried a lot of different chocolate covered coffee beans. I'm not a coffee drinker - I've just never gotten into it. I grew up in a house of coffee drinkers, people who obsess over the quality of their coffee and mostly drink espresso, so when I did occasionally have a cup, I got used to the strong stuff. I like the flavor, I just don't care for the drink too much. However, when I first discovered chocolate covered espresso beans in college, I got hooked. For me, it's the ideal coffee flavored delivery device. Also, chocolate. A lot of chocolate espresso beans put way too much chocolate on them. There needs to be a good balance of bean and chocolate to get that perfect crunch. Too much chocolate, and it doesn't have a satisfying mouth feel - yeah I know, this sounds pretentious, but I can't think of another way to describe it. I'm going to guess a lot of work goes into formulating the exact right proportions of nuts to caramel to nougat when you talk about a Snickers or something, otherwise it wouldn't be so satisfying. ;) Chocolate covered espresso beans are no different. This brand does it right. There is just enough bean to chocolate ratio that you get a nice crunch with each bean. The chocolate isn't too sweet - another problem I've had with chocolate beans as too much sugar can overpower the flavor of the coffee. On the whole, these are exceptionally made - fresh tasting beans, roasted nicely, good chocolate, and the correct ratio. The price is just right for these and convenient that it's subscribe and save for me. I liked these so much I get them regularly.

Fantastic quality and pricing! These have the perfect ratio of semi-sweet smooth dark (but not too dark, think 40% or so) chocolate to crunchy flavorful espresso bean. there is a fine veneer of candy shelling, just barely enough to protect this treat from melting in your hands, not that it's a problem for me, they're bring crunched up within seconds of picking them up. pros - the candy shell protects this treat from melting in your hands the dark chocolate has the perfect taste and texture to complement the bean the beans are fresh and flavorful, but not bitter. If you like dark hot chocolate it's very close to that flavor as a whole. the beans bring the complexity you'd expect. the price, especially in bulk is the best you'll find for this quality. sure you can pay $1 or 2 less per pound, but you'll get waxy chocolate or stale flavorless or burnt beans. cons - reaching here, but the candy shells crumble a bit in the bag, and make a bit of a mess when the pieces fall off as you take them out of the bag a few of the beans are not whole, that is they appear to be broken prior to making it to the chocolate. is that a big deal? probably not, but worth mentioning verdict - unless the price goes over $15 a pound these are the best, buy it now!

Hoosier Hill Farm Gourmet Dark Chocolate covered Espresso Beans (2 lb Bag) These are great little snacks. They arent the kind of thing that you tend to overeat and they satisfy your chocolate craving and give you a bit of a boost at the same time. Dark chocolate has been in the press recently as having some healthy benefits so I got these to satisfy a couple needs. They provide me a good alternative to other chocolate snacks and help me add a bit of dark chocolate in my diet. Here is something i do that some of you may wish to try. Take a small container ( i use an old cashew can) and buy healthy nuts in some bulk. I use pecans, almonds and walnuts. Mix those in the can with some of these and use for a nice energy boosting and nutritious mid afternoon snack. Yumm!

SMH that THIS is legal, but crystal meth isn't. I can't see that there's much difference (not that I ever used recreationally, but I'm old enough to remember being able to get a prescription for methamphetamines now and then). If you need a boost, this is the ticket. Just don't get carried away. It'd be pretty easy to eat yourself into an infarction. I've had about twenty of the beans over five hours and I'm pretty wired. Maybe tomorrow I'll limit to half that many. Bag showed up with about 1/4 of the beans stuck together, but Amazon owned the problem and refunded 1/4th of the purchase price (the offered to refund it all, but I wouldn't let them - the rest were just fine).

I've tried several brands of chocolate covered beans, and these are the best. Hoosier Hill Farm is the only brand I've found that gets both the chocolate and the bean right. The espresso bean has a wonderfully rich toasted (not burned) flavor and a pleasant, easy crunch. The dark chocolate is really just that - genuine, high quality dark chocolate. Not overly sweet, no questionable "off" flavors, no waxy feel. The amount of chocolate coating is just to my taste - enough to make its presence known and to accent the coffee flavor, not overpower it. Several reviewers reported that the candy arrived in a melted blob. That wasn't my experience, though my shipment arrived during a late July heatwave. Whoever did the packaging went to great lengths to keep the bag cool - 3 insulated bags, one inside the other, with an ice pack (in its own plastic bag in case of leakage) next to the candy. The extra effort and care paid off and was greatly appreciated - the candy arrived in perfect condition. I highly recommend both this candy and Hoosier Hill Farm. EDITED JANUARY 1, 2017 Just a note to add that these are great to have on hand for small or last-minute gifts. I included them in coffee-themed Christmas stockings for some grown-up friends - big hit. A couple of nice coffee mugs, filled with these espresso beans, then topped with cellophane and ribbons, saved the day when I found I needed a last-minute hostess gift. I'm thinking of filling champagne flutes or brandy snifters with them for Valentine's. Just about everybody loves these chocolate covered espresso beans, even people who don't normally eat candy. The five pound bag is a great deal, and goes a long way.
