- EASY OPERATION ----No Manual at all. Set the rotor to the board, Levitating success on the model, set the model 45degree direction under the light resource. Give the rotor a gently push, it will run smooth.
- HIGH-TECH ORNAMENT THAT COMBINES THE MAGNETIC AND ELECTRIC FIELD ----The Mendocino Motor is a magnetically levitated, solar powered electric motor. The motor consists of a spinning shaft that is held up by repelling magnets, stabilized by resting a point against a wall. It is powered by solar panels mounted on the spinning shaft, which generate currents through coils of insulated wire, and rotation.
- ENTERTAINING---- The motor rotor can rotate under weak light source. If the light stronger, the rotor rotating speed will be faster. The solar panels which equipped on the rotor convert sunlight to power and drive the model run freely.
- PRIORITY GIFT OPTION FOR MANY APPLICATIONS----It is an amazing and fantastic product at this price. Its elegant gift package makes it spruce up and presentable. It has a wide range of application as, great gift for Kids' science project, Physical/mechanical learning, teacher’s Demo props on the class, birthday gift for friends, families, parents, kids, etc. Many of our customers come from school, colleague, etc.
- AMAZING CONVERSATION PIECES ON YOUR DESK ----Decorative and impressive, it's proven to be a conversation starter to impress your visitors. It’s a cool piece of art even just stands on your desk.

Amazing
I teach both math and science, and I often purchase items to inspire student curiosity. I purchased this a few weeks ago and I have to say that it is totally amazing! The small rectangular prism is made up of 4 solar cells that float on a strong magnetic field. Giving the solar cells a slight push will start them rotating effortlessly, and if exposed to a light source they will continue to rotate and the brighter the light, the faster the cells rotate. The device will continue to spin indefinitely until the light source is removed. The only negative that I might mention is that, because the device is so light, it is also a bit delicate, and since it spins on such a strong magnetic field the solar cell portion of the device will shoot off the base if it is disturbed while it is spinning. For that reason, I let my students observe, but not touch the device. This device is VERY COOL and it will keep you, or your students enthralled for hours! Semper Fi GunnyS USMC Retired

Way cool
I bought this for my daughter the family electronics wizard, she loves it. She put it in the window by her kitchen table where she can see it running every day. What I noticed was if you put a flashlight directed on one side it would spin. Raise the flashlight to the top the motor would slow to a stop. Lower the flashlight to the other side and the motor would start spinning in the other direction. It didn't make sense to me but she knew exactly what caused the change.

Awesome model!
I love watching this little motor go. Mine came in and it was way out of balance. I never contacted the seller, so I'm not going to complain. I added some weights to the heavy spots, and it runs great. The model is not the best quality, but with a little work it runs perfectly. The shaft was slightly bent and the magnets on the same side were glued a little crooked. It doesn't really hurt anything as long as you get it balanced a bit better.

Friend is Determined to figure out how to make this useful!
Bout this as a gift for a good friend of mine. He has it on his desk as as it sits there spinning (incredibly fast depending on the light source), he gets lost imagining everything that he should be able to do with it from free electricity to all, to powering moon bases! It may not have helped his productivity at work, but it has helped his creativity. 10/10 would recommend to anyone who has a few moments to stare off into space at work.

So Entertaining
This is the most entertaining item I have ever bought for myself. The time spent watching this fascinating motor has been so relaxing; it spins on cloudy as well as sunny days. It is well worth the less than $50. It was ordered from "stirlingtechonline" on a Wednesday afternoon and received on Friday. Package was wrapped securely in bubble wrap (no horrible foam). All parts were there and in great shape. Hardest part in getting the motor running was peeling off the brown paper on top of the plexiglass base - a toothpick helped with that. The only suggestion I can think of for improvement would be a picture or drawing of what the motor would look like when running, and maybe some history, or even the name "Mendocino Motor". There was writing on the box, but only in Chinese. If received as a gift, I can imagine some people having a hard time trying to figure out what it is and how it should go together - even though there are only a few pieces. I love this motor and will be buying at least one more for a Christmas present. john

Excellent quality, precision design.
It runs all day in our windowsill. Cloud cover slows it down, as expected, and when the sun is bright again it speeds up. It runs very well under strong artificial light. Everyone who has seen it loves it. I was a little concerned about quality because I've purchased educational toys in the past that were of questionable quality. Not this time! Sunny did an outstanding job designing and manufacturing this motor. Highly recommended!

A++ seller. Beautiful item. Well-made and beautifully and meticulously crafted and it works amazingly. The designer is an artist and an engineer. The delivery was rather fast considering it comes from China. All in all, this item is worth the price and it will impress your audience. I use it for science class demos and students love it.

Very cool gadget for any tech-head and good conversation piece.
Very cool gadget for any tech head or engineer. In this case I purchased it as a birthday gift for my 12 year old son who loves science and engineering. The product works as advertised. Was packaged well and arrived with no damage. Easy to set up and get going. Just put it in the sun and it does its job. We had a few hiccups on the original order, apparently due to US customs, but the vendor was quick to resolve with good communications. It is a fun toy and good conversation piece.

I have purchased 2 Sterling engines from Sunny Tec and both work just fine. Cool items from our China friends
I have the motor on the window sill in the living room, spinning the day away... Its really neat! I accidentally knocked the ROTOR off the base, must have broken a wire in side? ANYWAY SUNNY TEC had me send the rotor back for repair / they sent a replacement with base too! The China mails are a tad slow but I did get the replacement safe and sound and spinning in my living room window. I have purchased 2 Sterling engines from Sunny Tec and both work just fine. Cool items from our China friends.

A fun motor!
I love this little motor! Good design (I like the "feet" which are steel ball bearings magnetically attached to small magnets that are implanted into the base of the structure.) I have it in my home on the windowsill over my kitchen sink where I wash the dishes by hand (no dishwasher). I have two radiometers on either side of this motor. Right now there is no direct sunlight coming in through the window (blue sky, no clouds), so the radiometers have stopped rotating. However, the Sunnytech is running at about 200 revolutions per minute. (One issue: it came without the propeller being attached to the shaft. I am not handy, but was able to fix it. I had to ream out the hole in the end of the shaft a little, using the blade of a pair of small sewing scissors. I was then able to twist the propeller onto the shaft enough so that it does not fall off. I at first installed it off center so that that the motor was wobbling a little, but after pushing the propeller on a little more, it centered itself and now it runs great. I put a battery powered spotlight on it and had it running at perhaps 1000 rpms and it runs smooth. In fact, no wobble of the motor now at any RPM speed, fast or slow. Great product!
