It was installed at the dealership with a bit of a struggle because a universal wiring harness doesn't fit an X-terra. Be sure to check with your installer before you buy the harness. Works well with our travel trailer.

Bought two of these, one for my 2004 Trailblazer LS which I sold and another for my new 2017 Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport. Install on the Trailblazer required me to cut the plug off of this controller due the the vehicle having bare wires, but for the Tacoma I purchased a Tekonsha 3017 brake controller harness and it was a perfect match to the plug on this Reese Brake Controller which make it a 100% plug and play install. The controller works great, I used it this past weekend to tow our 4122lbs camper with the Tacoma. After dialing in the sync and gain, it works awesome! Very easy to use and adjust.

Installed in my 2005 F150 in order to tow a camping trailer. I had the original towing package adapter and fuse that came with the truck, so I cut the 4 pin plug and spliced the wires. Saved me from having to buy an another adapter. Works really well, easy to set the tension with the manual brake lever. I am surprised by how low I have to keep the setting(2.5) in order to keep the tires from locking up. Maybe a matter of new brakes on the trailer. Overall, great buy. Gets the job done.

This brake controller is simple and easy to use. I needed one because of a recent trailer purchase. You do want to get the wiring harness because its plug and play. Once you have it set up take whatever you are towing and drive it around to figure the right adjustments for the trailer to break when the vehicle breaks.

Very simple to install and worked just as intended. The only trailer I use this on is our 30ft bumper pull camper and I have not had any problems. It is a great value that I would recommend to anyone considering an electric brake controller. I should mention that my truck is a 1997 Chevy Silverado.

This product performed perfectly, and exactly as described. I also ordered the wiring harness adapter to use with this unit for GM/GMC vehicles, unfortunately, my 2001 GMC Jimmy ended up not being the "Plug and Play" type. meaning, I wasn't able to just plug this unit in to a distribution/fuse panel. Nonetheless, after some extensive research to discover exactly what wires I needed to tap into to get this unit working correctly, it worked perfectly after getting every thing wired up and installed. I tow a 20' heavy equipment trailer with dual axles with brakes on both axels, and this unit works beautifully! I am very happy with this product. For those of you who have the factory installed, "Plug and Play" in your vehicle, you can get this brake controller installed and up and running in less than a half hour. This makes the second one of these units I have purchased, and they both work perfectly! Easy to adjust, and very responsive. I am very happy with this product from Reese. I installed this one in my 1990 Chevy C1500 pickup truck, and it works great.

I bought this to put in my F150 to move a tandem axle trailer 800 miles. This little brake controller seems to work better than the tekonsha p3 in my big truck. Very consistent and predictable braking with the trailer. I would bu6 this again.

Nice brake controller. I actually made this portable so it plugs into the cig lighter and run two wires back to trailer. Now I can move to another vehicle. I needed a working brake controller on a Uhaul truck that I rented to pull my trailer. They do not come with a brake controller. It worked perfectly and when needing brakes just use the slider.

Bought this to use on my van that tows a pop-up trailer. We didn't need a higher end proportional brake controller, this time delay one works for the smaller trailer. I used Reese Towpower 8506911 Brake Control Adapter Harness (for GM Models) so I didn't have to cut the end off of this brake controller and be able to unplug it if needed. Comes with everything you need (besides the adapter harness) and was able to mount it no problem. Easy display to let you know what your power is at (1-10) and the time delay. Simple adjustment by pressing the arrow keys on top and as you are braking it shows the power that it is sending back to the brakes. It also has the manual braking option by pulling the "trigger" over towards you. However, it will only put the max power you have it set at.

I installed it on my 2018 Ford F-150. With the right plug it was plug and play. I did have to run a hot wire from the battery to the hot side of the a of the controller since ford did not include fuse number 24. Otherwise it works perfect. Was able to intsall it in the same cutout as the OEM controller.
