We love it! I waited 6 years to take the plung. I did not want to spend $2,000 plus installation, so I took the risk and ordered online for a fraction of the cost. I spent weeks reading reviews and am so glad I chose ZLINE instead of an off brand. It looks so expensive! All the parts arrived and no damage! The lights are very bright. The suction is very strong. The sound is minimal. I would suggest 3 people (2 were skilled) and it took us just over 2 hours. It is very heavy and extra hands and eyes are needed to lift and level. I am thankful for the review that mentioned the “curve” on one end of the chimney. It matches the angle of the glass. That would have been a nightmare if we did it wrong. I did plug it in first thing out of the box, everything worked. I prefer the push buttons, less to go wrong. We placed everything together and held it over the stove before we made any cuts. Watching the short video before we started helped us get our bearings and we referred to it several times more. One of our best timeless purchases.

So far, we love it. Please know that the chimney cover needs to go on first, then hang the unit. Connect duct and wiring, then slide the top half of the chimney cover up, and screw with the 2 screws. Also, the two screw holes on the supporting bracket are supposed to go front and back, not left and right. I learned this all the hard way.

The first vent hood we received was bent up pretty bad. We shipped that one back and bought another one in hopes it would be in prestine condition and it was! This vent hood looks fabulous in our new kitchen. I like that you can control the vent or lights from either side of the vent hood. The lights are not too bright or too dim. The ventilation works great. The first setting is quiet and gets a little louder from there but all in all this is an excellent, beautiful vent hood for the price.

This sleek unit was much admired by our kitchen designer for its front and backside control buttons mounted above the glass, which allow for the largest filter screen and blower exhaust for a unit of its size. This leaves a flat, concave surface for easier cleaning. Its bright lamps at the four corners can be tilted and are excellent. It floats above a countertop/bar combo on one side of the kitchen. Installing and sealing the hood was a challenge for the builder's workman.

On an absolute basis this wouldn't be 5 stars as things like the grease grills are a little flimsy, but this thing is very affordable and for the price, it's a great product. No complaints since I installed it. It's fairly powerful, the instructions were pretty complete, it came with a few extra nuts and bolts for assembling in case one gets dropped somewhere hard to retrieve. I like that this company has wall mount and island mount versions of most fans.

So far so good. Arrived well packaged in good working order. very powerful, sleek looking. like that there are controls on both side of rangehood. No problem installing. LED lights are very nice. Great product thus far.

I had this installed above my island stovetop during my recent kitchen remodel. It looks great! I like the lights. The fan is really strong when turned on the highest setting. I can't imagine I'll ever need to suck so much air out of my house. My contractors installed it, so I don't know how easy it was to install; but I do know that they learned the hard way that you have to put the outside sleeve on before attaching it to the ceiling. My contractor said most of the island range hoods he's installed have a wrap around sleeve that is installed after mounting.

Like the sleek look of this range hood. I was not looking forward to having a visual obstruction into the kitchen but am very pleased now at how it defines the kitchen space. The final part of the install where it actually gets connected to the ceiling takes at least 3 people. 4 would be ideal as there's a time where it's being held up while someone is trying to get the screws started. We will probably use it mostly on the low setting which isn't too loud and draws a sufficient amount of air. It obviously gets louder with each higher setting. Very happy with this purchase.

Pros: The hood has very minimal visual weight in the room. The design and lines of the hood are quite nice. The blower is also very quiet on the first two settings (as these things go) and as good as it gets on the higher settings. I don't think I've run into a quieter one. The suction seems to be good, but I haven't put it through a super smoky test. The lighting is nice as well. Without reading any instructions it is easy to operate and has buttons on both sides of the hood. Cons: If you have an 8 foot ceiling the hood will be mounted 30" above the stove, no options on that (unless you feel like reworking some brackets). Be aware: The mounting instructions are adequate, but general. One end of the stainless steal chimney is curved; make sure this is on the bottom to get a good meshing with the hood (pretty terrible if you don't figure that out until everything is mounted and attached). Unless you already have an island hood you may need to get an outlet installed and add additional support in the ceiling to screw the mounting bracket to. Attaching the hood to the mounting brackets will take two people and ideally three.

The Z-Line is sleek, beautiful and powerful enough to remove all of the cooking odors. It is very well built and arrived well packaged. I am very pleased with my purchase, for the price, I don’t think I could have found a better unit. However, there were problems with my particular installation because I have a vaulted ceiling in my kitchen. I did the installation myself, I am not a contractor…just an advanced DYI person. I did need help putting the unit in place and in cutting the hole through the concrete tiles on my roof. Having redesigned the kitchen in my newly purchased home, I was dismayed to learn that the cooking odors quickly spread through much of the house. I had relocated the range from an outside wall to the center island and there was no way to vent it to the outside. The solution had to be a free-standing vent-hood. I discovered this unit and felt that it best matched the look I was trying to create and it had the air moving capacity that would be needed to carry the cooking odors through the ceiling and out through the roof. To have a little extra capacity, I ordered a 36-inch vent for a 30-inch range. I had never installed a free-standing vent-hood before and didn’t take the vaulted ceiling of my kitchen into consideration. The ceiling height was also an issue. At 9-feet 6-inches, Mounting this would place the vent at the outer limit of the recommended mounting height. I phoned Z-Line to ask if the unit could be installed in a vaulted ceiling and was told that it would be very difficult, but it could be done by building a soffit and attaching the mount to it. That, however, would have destroyed the clean look of the installation. Luckily, there was a ceiling joist in the exact location that I needed to locate the mounting bracket, but I first needed to build a mounting box from plywood that would attach to the joist while providing a level surface to bolt the mount to. I had to add two additional 2x4s in the ceiling to stabilize the mount and support the weight. That, actually, took more time than it did to mount the unit as I was working from within the 12x12inch opening in the ceiling. The most difficult part of the installation was finding that I had to cut the stainless steel riser to match the angle of the ceiling. This was done using a Dremel tool and several cutting discs.
