This is so versatile that it's amazing. We bought this for my 8 year old who wanted to use it for several different reasons. When she reads her books for homework, it helps keep them standing up/at a tilt so she can sit at the table and read, or on the chair etc. It helps frees her hands without having hold the book for 1/2 or so. She also uses this to hold up her iPad. We have her iPad in a thick case which doesn't stand up. We fixed that problem with this wonderful stand.

It looks just like in the picture. It is made of beautiful bamboo wood very soft and smooth, very good quality. You can recline it from about 45 degrees to 90 degrees (perpendicular to the table). I think they made that design decision because they wanted to keep the base as short as possible ( as opposrd to making it longer and having it recline further than 45 degrees). I dont need the book to lie flat so Im ok with that and I appreciate that it takes as little counter space possible. It also has two windshield-wiper-like antenas to hold the book open. They are gentle even on the thick "Essentials of Classic Italian cooking" book which is over 600 pages long. I did test it on my "Gran Cocina Latina" as well, it is 900 pages and found that it holds the book well. However, I can only use one of the "wipers" and not both if there is more than 600 pages on either side of the book because the wipers wont hold more than that. But its ok. The book wont budge. See picture.

I use this daily for my extremely thick, heavy engineering reference manuals. Perhaps it was designed for cookbooks - well, I have a lot more respects for chefs. Clearly, they are a tough bunch of customers if this is the kind of product they use. Some of my reference manuals as over 1100 pages, and this stand keeps them open, to the page I want without any issue. When I write code, I don't want pages flapping back and forth. This is brilliant. I hate frilly, foopy, goopy nonsense. This is no-nonsense, practical well designed and wholly functional. What I didn't expect is how easy it is to adjust the incline of the book angle. In the back, you can adjust the angle just by adjust which notch the rest sets in. Done. Simple and reliable. Was this designed by a Marine Corps Engineer? It's that good.

I LOVE this thing! It's perfect for what I got it for, reading in bed, and it's also great for propping up a cookbook or any book I need to set on a table top to read from or refer to while working. I'd give it 100 stars out of a hundred, 100% awesome! For anyone who prefers to cuddle up in bed while reading, this is the best thing ever, because it keeps your book from flopping over and keeps the pages open so your hands don't get tired or cramped trying to position your book in a comfortable position, this book rest takes care of everything. I can lie on my back in bed and not cramp my neck trying to read - The little metal black arms at the bottom hold the pages open. I place the reader on a pillow on my stomach and the prop the stand up in back. I bought a clip-on gooseneck lamp that I clip to the side of book reader and it's perfect! It's also great for reading on your side, just flip the reader & book sideways, which was never comfortable for me when I just tried holding a book open by hand. For me, this book reader is such a game-changer that it makes the difference between reading at night and not reading at all, since could never get comfortable holding a book for long.

I don't usually write reviews, but I just have to with this item! I am a doctoral student and have been contemplating a book stand for about a year now. I use this on my bnb table and it has completely saved my neck and allowed me to read for much longer without fatigue! The arms are not to stiff and the adjustable angles are perfect!

I bought this as a birthday gift for my husband (but I use it also and thoroughly enjoy it!). It appears to be well-made, is a handsome piece, and very functional. We use it for our cookbooks and it is very convenient to be able to prop open the books and keep them on the desired page. The page holders seem sturdy and do their job well, and the stand allows for adjustment to various positions to keep the book at different angles. We also use it as a decorative piece with an opened cookbook on the counter when we aren't cooking. So fancy! (insert laughter here) Overall, cooks, or book-lovers alike may find this reading rest to be just the thing to add to their wish list, shopping cart, kitchen counter.... the list goes on. Two thumbs up.

This cookbook holder looks fantastic and works really well. It is very sturdy and the metal holders firmly hold pages in place. I have a traditional kitchen so it blends nicely with the decor and looks very stylish. If you have more of a contemporary kitchen, this may not be the best fit. It reminds me of the cookbook stands my grandma used when I was growing up..it's just a more improved version. I know leave a cookbook out on my countertop in the kitchen to add to the overall decor.

Okay, I love everything about this but 1 thing. The stand works amazing for my Bible, thick study books & my tablet. It folds nicely & is very attractive. The one thing the is that the black plastic bottom stand does not secure. When folded closed & not in use the metal part that gives the desired incline folds & stays flat. The plastic part that folds old to be the base does stay securely to the wood. So when you go to grab it, that part flops down. So I find I just need to be careful & slow down. That is not a huge part of my nature so I'm gonna try to be creative with velcro. If that one issue were resolved, then this would be a perfect item.

I needed this to help with holding my Bible in position as I worked at the computer. I have impaired vision, & having this stand enabled me to position it directly below a reading light. It's very stable, easy to set up, adjustable, & quite attractive, unlike some of the all-plastic or all-metal ones available. And, I thought the price was quite reasonable. A good buy. Comes with two tension-spring page-holders attached. These are too stiff for a thick book, but you can loosen the screws to allow for that, & the metal will bend slightly. Overall, a very satisfactory product.

The metal movable page holders are strong. We use it to read at eye level. At this price we bought two!. We endure 27 kilos/59 pounds of a life time exposure to unnecessary cervical, thoracic, and lumbar stress (deformities and permanent damage). Let's read and use all of our devices, but at EYE LEVEL.
