Thermometer makes a massive difference.

I bought this for a coffee lover as a gift. As a former Barista I know that the tools used with your knowledge of coffee need to be quality if you want a great cup of coffee. That being said this product does exactly what is described and is very high quality for the best price. I have bought other products by coffee gator and will continue to do so.

Have been using it for months on a gas stove. Not too crazy about the design but it’s very functional and pours the water well on the filter. No material issues. Handle stays cool.

I've only used this a few times but I really like it so far. I like that it's not a huge kettle and the pouring spout is great. I'm making coffee for one person so the size is great and if I want more I can quickly heat up another pot and have a fresh cup. I have an electric stove and the bottom is the exact size of my small burner which I think is great as well as the handle has never gotten hot from being partially over a burner. And it's a cool feature. I use it for pour over coffee and for tea. Being able to have the right temperature for the water is a wonderful feature and is actually what led me to buy this. I love the kettle and have also been using it for loose teas. Many of the teas I use have the exact temperature the water should be and getting the temp. correct really makes a difference. This kettle makes that so easy! I'm making coffee for one person so the size is perfect for me. I have an electric stove and the bottom of the kettle is the exact size of my small burner which I think is great. I think this feature really helps to keep the handle cool enough to touch without a potholder. At least that has been my experience. I use the kettle with the Coffee Gator pour over Brewer Coffee Gator Pour Over Brewer - Hand Drip Paperless Filter and Glass Carafe - Plus Hacks eBook - 14floz, 400ml I use the filter from the brewer for coffee and tea and it fits perfectly in my cup and I've never had any tea leaves get through the filter. I'm in love! I also use the kettle for boiling water to use in any recipe where I need boiled water. Why? Because the water starts to boil so much faster in the kettle because of the design. Even if you have the lid on the pot it won't boil nearly as fast as the kettle. Obviously it wouldn't fill a huge pot but it's perfect for my 1 quart saucepan. I used it last night to boil water for making quinoa. And of course I never put anything in the kettle but water! It seemed a little pricey to me at first but I have gotten so much use out of it that it was worth every penny.

I'm a little biased writing this review because I just burned my finger pouring from this thing. In general I like--use it every morning to make coffee. And I've found it is useful to have a thermometered kettle for other things like tea and hot water bottles. Three detractors are worth mentioning: (i) as it says in the description, it is called a 1 L kettle but the recommended filling amount is 0.6 L. Why not call it a 0.6 L kettle, if that is the safe filling volume? (ii) it boils over with no warning if you don't happen to be staring at the thermometer. A good kettle will whistle long before spilling over, in case you are focused elsewhere in the kitchen. (iii) when pouring out the last bit, it is easy tilt too far and the top falls off. Why not make the top stick on a little with a mechanical press fit or something? EDIT: changed from 3 to 5 starts because of good customer service.

Love this! I always knew water for coffee should not be boiled but using a traditional kettle you wouldn't know the exact temperature. The coffee gator has a thermometer when the water temperature is in the blue area of the thermometer you are ready to pour over for the purest and freshest coffee you'll ever taste! The kettle holds enough for 2 full cups of coffee and is comfortable to use. Time for me to go grind some beans and enjoy my morning coffee.

Easy to use if one can read a thermometer. Tea and coffee are both improved, especially the greener varieties of, for example, oolong, when one wants a steeping temp of 180 degrees. A good investment . Better than a dildo for measuring temp.

I am relatively new to pour over coffee. Definitely not a "hipster" but I am quite impressed with the flavors of coffee in this method. Kettle is well built and easy to control the pour. Absolutely love the temp gage feature. If you are drinking pour over and need a kettle this is great.

I've used the kettle every morning for 3 months on an induction stove and it works perfectly. Using induction, 700mL of water goes to a rolling boil in about 90 seconds. To get to 208F (light roast) or 198F (dark roast) I leave the cap off after turning off the heat about 20 sec or a minute, respectively, then start the timer for my pour over. The temp will drop about 3-5 degrees (cap on) through a 2.25min pour of 360 mL. There are a couple of caveats though. I only use reverse osmosis water. This kettle, like any other kettle, can get scaled pretty easily. The other issue is if the kettle is left on the stove and gets spattered with oils during cooking. There is a thin lip around the bottom of the kettle that burns oil residue resulting in a burning smell through the kitchen. Neither issue causes me to hesitate to recommend the product. I've found no issues with workmanship. It's durable and easy to clean. The handling feels perfect. I feel I can paint a picture with the well controlled spout.
