These are great binoculars and we bought them for gifts, too.
These are great binoculars and we bought them for gifts, too. Even though they are sturdy, my son broke his first pair after about a year. He was running around the mall and trying out lawn mowers or something, and he threw them far across the building to divert my husband and me from the manhunt. I was able to put it together again but it seems like a precision instrument, so I bought another one for him recently. We'll use the repaired one as a toy and the new one for real adventures. We went to the beach yesterday to see seals out on the water, and my son was really thrilled with them. The manufacturer/vendor provides instructions about using the supplied strap for kids, but instead of that I bought a pack of wrist straps separately and we use a small wrist strap.

Can't we have ANYTHING nice?!
Let me preface this review by saying that I often tell my husband that our family of 6 busy kids (ages 2-13 years) should be testers for new products that come out; if there is a flaw in the design, our kids will surely find it, or, due to simple frequency of use, the flaws will become evident quickly. We were so excited to get these binoculars! However, after many excited hands were grabbing the binoculars to try them out, they fell to the floor and broke. (*me, exasperated and tired*: "Can't we have ANYTHING nice?!") These are supposed to be shock proof, right? Leave it to my kids to break it.... When Sarah, the owner of Kidwinz, sent a follow-up email to check on the purchase, I thought I should write and let her know what happened. She responded within a day, apologized profusely, and said that perhaps the binoculars we got were damaged at the warehouse. She assured me they were drop tested and this rarely happens, and she offered to send us another pair free of charge. I thanked her, gave her my address, and within a couple of days a new pair of binoculars arrived. This new set works fantastic. We are more careful when we share them with each other now. They are the perfect size for small hands and faces (they are for ages 3+). We love the color and the feel of them. The knob to adjust the focus is easy to turn. And they actually work well for kid binoculars, unlike some cheap ones you find other places. There is a little case that they come with and a strap to attach (so as to keep them from falling!) as well as a cleaning cloth to keep the lenses smudge free. We have had some exciting views of turkey vultures (they are so weird looking!) and neighbors' yards (prompting discussions about privacy!) We are looking forward to taking them on some nature walks and hikes. This company (Kidwinz) has been great to work with, and their mission to help kids get outdoors and explore is something we as a family are proud to support. If you are looking for a great set of kid binoculars, I highly recommend these.

These binoculars are fantastic! I bought them for my second grade students
These binoculars are fantastic! I bought them for my second grade students. We learn about birds and then we go on bird watches. I was worried that these would be too immature for 8 year olds. I should not have worried. The box says for ages 3+, but I can't imagine anyone under 6-7 being able to take advantage of everything these binoculars have to offer. They are small, but that is good if you are hiking. They allow you to focus each eye individually. I could see birds crystal clear from distance. These binoculars are perfect for grades K-6 and anyone older if you are okay with 8X magnification. I love these!

Perfect for kids
These were purchased for my classroom through Donors Choose. They are perfect for an elementary school class. Sturdy, but good magnification. Not too many ways to adjust, but that's often a good thing when dealing with 30+ student. They're pretty intuitive to use, given that my students had basically never handled binoculars before. Good price, too. I would recommend to anyone looking for starter binoculars for younger children. And the rubber around pretty much everything is great given how many, "Oops I dropped it," occurred (because they just never seem to remember to put the cord around their necks!)

high quality and resilient
This product has stood the test of time with two toddlers and travel. My family had very high quality binoculars available on our last trip and there was not as much difference between their set and these. We were all amazed. We have had some components come apart, but we have been able to re-assemble with a little bit of work. Nothing is indestructible and we are pleased that every time these have taken a beating, they have still come back together and remained functional.

Sturdy and a little more advanced and can grow with your child
These are really nice binoculars for older kids - they have two different focusing dials and adjust wider and narrower to fit your child's eyes. They come with a nice carrying case and a strap. My 5yo struggled a little to get the focusing right, but the view on these is great and these will last a long time. They are sturdy and comfortable for little eyes, and don't feel like they'll break if they get dropped.

Great for kids!
I purchased 15 pairs of these for use in an elementary school nature exploration program, so my experience with them is extensive. Overall, these binoculars do a great job for kids...ESPECIALLY for the younger kids (6 to 7) who need the close eye spacing and easy focusing these binoculars allow. These binoculars have also proven quite durable in the face of accidental drops and less than gentle handling, One tip for using these with younger kids is that they rarely recognize (or say anything) when one eye is out of focus while the other is clear. I is common for one if our eyes to be slightly different than the other, so these binoculars come with a diopter adjustment (the right ocular can be adjusted to correct for that difference). The trouble is that small hands just live to turn dials mindlessly simply because they can! So it’s important to check your child’s binoculars occasionally and reset the adjustment to neutral (so that the focus is even). To do this (because these are too small for most adults), look through the left eyepiece with one eye and use the focusing knob to set your focus on a nearby object. Next, look through the right eyepiece with the same eye and adjust the DIOPTER (by twisting the eyepiece, NOT the focusing knob) to focys the image on the same object as before. This will get the two sides to focus evenly and will make using them MUCH more fun for your child. All that being said, these are a terrific product for kids and a good company to deal with!

Great for bird watching!
My 7-year-old daughter had been asking me for a pair of binoculars for quite some time. I wanted to make sure it would not only feature a substantial magnification, but also be sturdy and durable. After reading various reviews I decided to buy the Kidwinz shock proof one and I have not regretted my choice. Exactly this week she went for a bird watch tour with her school and came home describing very excitedly and in details the beautiful birds she was able to spot with her binoculars. I recommend it.

She is very happy with them
We got these binoculars for our 7 year old daughter's birthday. She is very happy with them. They come with a nice good-quality carrying bag made of heavy fabric. The bag has a loop so that they can be carried on a belt. There is a shoelace-style strap that attaches to one side of the binoculars. It is long enough that she can carry the binoculars around her neck, and they hang down to her waist. It is easy to focus, and they can adjust to adult eyes just as well as kid-sized eyes. The leaves of a tree 100 yards away came into sharp focus. Also included is a good kid-friendly set of instructions and a cleaning cloth. We are delighted with this purchase. These are real binoculars, comparable in weight and quality to binoculars I've taken to watch sporting and cultural events.

My elementary students love having these in the classroom as part of our field studies. Two other classrooms bought them as well. They are very much a real tool in an appropriate size and weight for a 6-9 year old child.
