I was doubtful that this would work, but really needed to try something. I have an older dog that seems to be warmer than he used to be which leads to panting and discomfort. This seems to help quite a bit - sometimes he is completely on it, other times it may just be his head or part of his body. When I first put it down, he kind of avoided it since it is slippery. Once I convinced him to rest on it while I was next to him, he seemed to catch on. Now we move the mat around the house at times so he can be where we are. This has put more life back in him. He plays more now and then goes to the mat.

We've had a heat wave hit this week in Northern California...mid to high 90's. We have 2 cats approximately 10 lbs. each. Received mat today. Was surprised how heavy it is( for a thin mat). Taking it out of box I could immediately feel the cool. Layout and my two cats came up ,sniffed, and immediately laid down. They love it. Purchased the small size...Plenty of room for both and to stretch out , they are both long cats. Good size, The mat is very well made, worth the $$. I'm very happy. .....Shhhh..... I want one for me!

I did a lot of research on cooling mats for our puppy and this one did not disappoint. We live in the desert where it gets 120 degrees F often, and the first place she runs for is this mat. It's cool to the touch for me too. She used it every day for a year and it did wear out and we had to replace, but I feel like if you use it every day it's a good bang for your buck. It does get pretty dirty quickly, but we just rub it dry with some water and vinegar. Would definitely recommend this cool mat.

My little westie is hot natured and would always wake up in the middle of the night bc she was uncomfortable from being so hot. This cooling pad is cool to the touch and she loves it. It seems like it warms up after a while, but that’s ok bc she just rolls over to the other side and falls right back to sleep. She doesn’t chew on this gel pad, so I can’t comment about that. But she digs into the gel pad and so far, so good. No holes, leaks or tears from the puppy digging and seems really durable. For reference, my pup is a westie, just over 1 year old, and about 15ish lbs. I would recommend to small dogs as far as durability will go.

Wow! My new lab mix puppy was panting in his sleep every night. I live in southern California where homes often stay warm until late night. I tried everything from blowing a fan in the crate too leaving the interior bare. He still panted. I was afraid that he may have some health problem, but then I read that puppies may run hot. I purchased this after reading the positive reviews. The sizing I chose fit perfectly in his intermediate sized crate. He keeps digging at the mat when he's awake and I've been actively trying to keep him from tearing at it (Avid bed disemboweler). Result? Happy sleeping pup with NO PANTING at all. YAY!! The mat also has a nice weight. Even with his digging has not torn. Very high quality and I'm more than happy with it. I will be purchasing a more in the future and may gift to friends with hot puppies.

I have two kitties who absolutely love this even though I bought it for my 2 year old/56 lbs husky. Maybe bcs it has not been hot enough but I’m glad I have it for when we do get those rare but uncomfortably hot days. My husky did have her peanut butter treat though on it after playing in the park. I do look forward to seeing how she likes it when we go camping this summer. I’m sure it’ll come in handy. In the meantime, her feline siblings are enjoying it on her behalf. If need be, I’ll definitely purchase another one so they can all be happy. :) Update (4/22/19): My husky really likes it. She has her food on it and shares it with the kitties but she’s really taken over especially after playing with her friends at the park. She will come home and just pass out on it. I clean it with one of the Mr Clean sponges and it looks pretty good. It’s held up its shape and my doggy seems to enjoy it. I’m thinking about buying another one soon because Spring is here and it’s finally getting warmer. :)

My Bichon Frise loves this mat! I live in the South and we have already had hot and humid days. One main reason I selected this mat because it didn't need water to work. (It appears to work like my "cooling" bed pillows, which she likes.) This mat can be used on the floor or furniture. My dog goes outside to sunbathe, comes in and lays on the mat for 10 minutes or so, and then gets on the sofa. I bought the 23x35 size and it works very well for her.

The best cooling mat we've tried and we've tried them all! I have a PBGV (petit basset griffon vendeen) who is extremely heat sensitive. He is 30lbs and long and fits on the medium size very well. We tried several different mats, some with gallons upon gallons of water that needed to be added which were extremely heavy and usually ended up moldy or springing a leak. My dog also had to be talked into getting on them because of the waterbed like surface. This one is just as cool and very thin and lightweight. He is not easy to please. There's a orvis bed I paid $200 for that goes unused which I cannot bear to throw out! But I find him on this a fair bit of the time. I could probably put it in the car too. We've had it several months now and looks and works like brand new. It was pricey but well worth it. It really brings his body temperature down after hot walks.

We’ve had this for literally minutes, and our bulldog puppy has not only figured it out, she’s in love. Less than a minute on the floor and she’s fully spread out, relaxing. This is the “small” size (she’s a 50 lb, 10 month old puppy).

Incredible item. I have an 11 year old black lab and live in Arizona. He gets around really great, but, of course likes to nap a lot in his old age. I set up one of those fabric "crates" for him as I figured he'd really like his own space. I got that crate about 6 months ago. He never went in it. I think it reminded him of his days at the dog pound before I rescued him. Anyway, I put the Pet Dog Self Cooling Mat Pad inside the crate. My lab was skeptical the first couple of weeks and didn't go in the crate. He finally went in the crate and laid down. It's now his favorite spot to nap during the day. I laid on the mat myself and it really does cool everything. Great product.
