really wanted a cheaper crimping tool than $36.99 shipped (since I won't be using it much), but couldn't find one that looked decent. Quality is actually really nice.. doesn't feel like it is going to "twist" instead of crimp over time. Crimping surfaces is only 4mm wide, so you have to "crunch" each aluminum crimp about 3 times to get the whole thing done. Feels like it will last.

I use this swagging tool for 1/16" SS 5 core and 7 core cable. I have not tried to crimp larger cable as I have no need to do so. Even with small cable, it takes muscle to crimp with one arm resting on a hard surface. The adjustable pressure settings might have helped I suppose (no experience yet). I like the compact size for working in limited spaces. If not working in tight spaces or with large cable, I would choose a tool with longer arms for additional leverage.

I liked just about everything about this tool. It is well-made, easy to use and does an excellent job of securing wire cable. I purchased it for reattaching a 1/8" galvanized steel cable to my garage door opening/closing mechanism. If set up according to the well-written instruction sheet, it does a consistent job securing wire loops at a cable's end. The price was very reasonable and it was shipped and received promptly.

Pros: Really high quality crimp tool. This thing is almost indistructable - jaws are adjustable to give incredibly tight non slip cable retainer crimps. Con: because it’s built like a tank it is super heavy and long. So kinda awkward using in tighter spaces and eat your Wheaties before using because it takes quite a bit of strength to close the compound jaws completely. Don’t get me wrong I’ll deal with weight and size because the finished crimps are amazing. And I am sure this tool will last for many many years of crimping.

Great tool. The release cord on my tonneau cover detached. Found the double barrel wasn't crimped properly. Was able to use this tool to fix the it. Crimped the other side for good measure. Works great.

These were perfect for my wire rope project. They are smooth and worked flawlessly to crimp my generic fasteners, I think they were aluminum. This was more than I wanted to spend on this tool and I am glad I did.

I used it to crimp copper sleeves on 1/8" SS cable. It does a nice job. I slipped 16" sections of 1 1/4" PVC tubing on the handles to give me the leverage to close the jaws.

I opted for this and some sleeves over some racheting fittings from a online vendor. I was REALLY surprised at the tight tolerances of the hinge mechanism given the price. I found it a little hard to operate standing on a ladder, trying to hold the fittings with one hand, but the tool works as-designed, and crimps solidly. I didn't notice any wear on the jaws after doing ~50 aluminum sleeves, and the crimp was nice and tight around the cable. The "big size" would probably give you more leverage, but would be more unwieldly. If you're not crimping big stuff, go for the PVC-tube trick.

Works correctly when used correctly. Crimped wire rope looks good and works well. The right tool makes the connection strong and solid. Don't forget to buy the oval loop insert thingies.

I read a few reviews that mentioned this product would be better with longer handles for better leverage, I assume that meant it might be hard to get a good crimp on the first try. I ordered the product thinking I may have to crimp twice. Not the case for me. I was surprised how big the tool is after considering the reviews. These handles are roughly as long as those on small bolt cutters. I successfully crimped 1/8" aluminum couplers on steel cable with no real effort. I'm no muscle man, regular old guy that works a regular job. Average guy in average health. Nice tool, well made, fair price.
