A Clock for EVERYONE!
I Love this clock..... odd, I see it mostly discussed as an item for folks with dementia and such..... Well, I’m no spring chicken but I can see well, I’m clear headed and I’m not forgetful. This is a clock for everyone and I find it difficult to believe that most anyone of any age could not find a clock such this extremely beneficial. It is a wonderful clock......at a glance it displays to you all that a clock is supposed to in a clear, easy to read Digital Format. It shows the DAY,the Period of the day...(I.e Pre-dawn, morning, afternoon, evening), the Actual time (your choice..Military or Standard), the Month, the Date, and the Year. It does so in a vibrant, easy to see display that can easily be seen from across a room. QUESTION: Why wouldn’t most anyone want a clock like this? It’s GREAT!

So pleased with this purchase- I would absolutely buy it again ...
I bought this for my mom who has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's and is in assisted living. It is the hit of her hall and everyone wants to know where she got it. She is ecstatic that she can tell the day and date now because she would get behind with a regular calendar. All I had to do was plug it in and it was ready to go. It also automatically changed for daylight savings time which saved me a trip that day. So pleased with this purchase- I would absolutely buy it again as it is giving her such joy!

This was a gift for a loved one experiencing beginnings of memory loss
Exceeded expectations. This was a gift for a loved one experiencing beginnings of memory loss. The person absolutely loves it, and she is so relieved to be able to instantly know the day, date and time. She commented so positively on all of the features after having it for a day, and she especially liked being able to see the words "morning" "afternoon" "evening". From what she said, I would recommend getting a clock with ALL of the information that is displayed on this one. If you think about it, when a person wakes up from an afternoon nap, they may not remember if it is morning or afternoon. And in my experience, some people with memory loss no longer recognize the terms "AM" and "PM". I like the logo (American Lifetime) indicating made in USA. Packaging does not say a thing about memory loss or dementia - it is labeled as a "day clock". There is a well-designed lever that pulls out on the back for setting the clock on a desk, or the clock hangs easily on a wall when lever is folded in. It is well lit, but not hard on the eyes at night. Internal battery holds time and date perfectly when clock is unplugged (so is good for power outages). Cord is nice and long for reaching outlets easily. We prefered the feature of plugging in a clock like this because people with memory loss may have a hard time dealing with changing batteries when they run out of charge, whereas plugging a cord into an outlet is pretty much second nature for most people. Set-up of time and date is very easy. In fact, the time and date came up accurately the minute I plugged the clock in the wall socket, except that I had to just adjust for our time zone - this was very nice. When helping people with memory loss, those of us caring for them need all of the help we can get. I am very grateful for such a well-designed product as this day clock. Clearly, this company took into consideration all of the special needs of those who need a little extra help. This seemed to be the nicest of the day clocks that I looked at on Amazon, and I'll bet it truly is. Very, very pleased with this clock.

This Clock Has Greatly Improved My Aunt Ethel's Quality of Life!
Everyone can read it. Even the dog. I'm kidding! But if our labradoodle knew how to read, she'd be able to clearly make out the time. I purchased this clock for my aging aunt who moved in with our young family just this month. She has a host of medical issues that come with aging, including dementia. A month ago, you could ask her what the date was and she couldn't even tell you the year. Now, she's reminding me when she needs her insulin. Prior to the clock, she would frequently ask me what the time was and if she needed her medication. She'd also ask if we were sleeping in the next day or if it was a work/school day. After the clock, she's more in tune with our daily life. She even knows that "Walker, Texas Ranger" comes on at 8 pm at night and ends at 9 pm, when both she and my 9 year old daughter go to bed. She's also sleeping less and staying more alert through the day. This helps her sleep more soundly at night. If she wakes through the night to use the restroom, she clearly knows that she needs to go back to bed because it isn't 6 am in the morning and the house isn't stirring quite yet. I know, how can a clock do that... Right? It can't. However, just being aware of time passing and having a more routine schedule can. With all comedy aside, this clock has greatly improved my Aunt Ethel's quality of life. ***The technical details: arrived promptly, packaging intact, simple set up, easy to navigate menu/buttons, auto dimming feature is very cool, smaller than most picture frames, sets sturdily on the dresser top, and easy to read from all angles of the room even with the curtains open.*** If I had ANY suggestion at all, it would be that the product be slightly more affordable. I believe that the price point is just out of reach for those on a fixed income and might deter them from buying a product that could genuinely benefit their quality of life. I'd buy this product again. I'd recommend it to friends with aging parents, grandparents, or other aging relatives.

Excellent clock - we're very pleased.
My wife and I LOVE this clock. The day and time display are very clear and easy to read. The date is perhaps 1/3 the type-size as the time, which means you have to be a little closer to the clock to read it, but the day and time are what we want to be able to see from across the room. Although it has an alarm if you wanted to use it, our clock is mounted on a wall above a window, so we don't use that function - and don't have a need for it, anyway. Another feature is that the clock automatically dims between 7PM and 7AM. It's quite readable whether it's dimmed or not. The overall size of the clock is about 8-1/2" wide by 6-3/4" tall. The actual display screen is 6-3/8" x 4-3/4". The numbers for the time are 1-1/2" tall. There are other large-font clocks available for less money, but some of those display an abbreviated date, day, and the temperature which makes for a busy-looking display, in my opinion. We definitely prefer the format of the display on this clock. The only improvement I could recommend on this clock is where the plug is positioned: it's on the right-hand side of the clock. If you're putting the clock on a table, you'd be fine, but to hang it on the wall, having the plug not on the bottom causes the clock to tilt. I fixed that problem by just putting a small nail on the lower left side of the clock to keep it from tilting. Lastly, we opted for this particular seller's product because they offered 3 different colored borders around the display. We bought the cream marble because it was to be mounted on a wallpapered wall and we wanted something other than plain black or white. It blends perfectly! Very nice product.

Empowering clock - easy to read and set!
My amazing but stubborn grandmother is 95 lives alone and has trouble remembering what day it is. This is very frustrating as her routines are very important to her. She kept telling me how upset she is that she forgets the day of week. She has repeatedly called me at work wondering where I am not realizing it’s a work day. It’s a big loss for her and felt overwhelming to feel like she’s “losing it”. I snuck it into her house one evening hoping if it just appeared in the morning she would try it and let it stay (she’s not big on change or spending money and makes me send most things back). She busted me but liked the look of it right away. This says a lot about the first impression of the clock! This clock has been very empowering as she can see the day of week very clearly (from about 5.5 feet away) but also the date. I purchased it primarily for the day of week and wasn’t sure if date would be large enough for her to see clearly. With the high contrast it is which has given her the ability to write her own checks again (that’s both good and bad). She’s so pleased with it and in the wood grain feels it’s also very pretty. I absolutely adore my grandmother. If she’s happy, I’m happy. Pros: Simple uncluttered design - all controls on back Wood grain is attractive High contrast Easy to set up (controls are small, I don’t think my grandmother could have managed) Back-up means if power goes out it will stay set Large letters! Day of week is in all caps! Cons: Multiple menu options with smaller buttons will not be easy for an elderly person to set Chime and alarm functions would be a bit tricky to set Bottom line: clock gave her some independence back. I would recommend to anyone needing something similar. It has exceeded my expectations.

Terrific clock!
I purchased two of these clocks. One for my 86 year old mother and one for my 80 year old mother-in-law. Both have trouble remembering the day and date, and occasionally the time. This helps keep them oriented and they both loved them! The clock is nice looking. The letters are easy to read. It's easy to read from across a room. The directions are well written and easy to follow to change the date and time. It can be hung on the wall, our set on a surface. This clock isn't just for the elderly, it would be a nice clock for anyone. Price is reasonable. I would recommend it!

BEST CLOCK EVER!!!
I have always had a clock in my room. I don’t sleep the best and like to know what time it is when I wake up in the middle of the night. I don’t like to keep the clock on my nightstand so I need to be able to see it across the room. A lot of other clocks I have had have had a bluish tint that makes it impossible to see the numbers from across the room at night. The red colored numbers on clocks I have had are just simply too disrupting for me. This clock is absolutely perfect. The words and numbers are large, but the light is not disruptive. I love how it gives the time, date and time of day it is. I am 36 - and I debated getting this because I thought it would be something you would find for old folks with poor vision- no offense - we all get old someday! - but once I got it out and set it up - I just LOVE it! It was by far the easiest clock I have ever had to set the time. And it was actually only about 7 minutes off in time from when I first pulled it out of the box and plugged it in. The battery back up is excellent too. I have no complaints at all except that I wish I had bought this much sooner!

Helps alleviate moments of confusion
I purchased this to give it a test run before forwarding on to my mom & step dad, they were both diagnosed with cancer within days of each other. I thought this clock might be helpful for them to see what day & time of day it was at an easy glance as they go through the terrible journey they both face with their treatments & recovery. The multiple alarm feature I thought would also be handy for medication schedules. My criteria was - it had to be easy to understand setup, easy to push buttons for the setup (mom has rheumatoid in her hands) and the display had to be easy to see. I did not read the instructions upon opening so I could see how intuitive it was. I took the cord & plugged it in to the clock & the outlet, that part was super easy. I was surprised to see the date & time were already set, but the time was an hour or two off. I proceeded to adjust the time and got tripped up a little when I went to the menu. The display screen prompts with arrows on each side of the time. Me being used to touch screens thought I needed to touch the arrows on screen to scroll through the hours. That was not the case, the screen is not a touch screen lol. You need to use the 4 arrow buttons on the back of the unit to adjust the settings. Once that realization was achieved, time set was easy. I think it might be a slightly difficult for someone to keep their finger on the right button AND watch the clock face to see what is happening if that person had very weak or painful fingers. The buttons themselves were not too hard to push & they are fairy large. The display is super easy to read in various levels of room light & distances. It does emit a bright glow in a dark room, kind of like a night light. I wouldn't recommend this in the bedroom for anyone who needs total darkness to sleep. But if you use a nightlight, this would be great. Overall I am very pleased with this clock, I think it will work very well for my mom & step dad. I also discovered it works great for those days when you take a nap & wake not knowing if it is 5:30 AM or PM during the PNW fall / winter months when the skies look the same regardless. I am keeping this clock for myself for that purpose & buying another one for mom (she recently bought new tables & I want to match the clock to them).

CHANGED MY MIND. I LOVE IT.
So, I was very upset that it was a powered only clock, I hate the company logo on the top face of the clock, the outside seems chincy and cheap...BUT...There is no other clock that says what this says. Tuesday morning etc. It instantly grew on me. I hate the black cable on my wall but the hourly chime that can be set for a small block or large block of hours, seeing the date and time so easily, this device is made for seniors and people that may have Dementia or memory loss, so I will give five stars for them. And after all, it could go on a desk and not see the cable. So, my complaint is personal and not fair. I would take one point off for the logo but I'll be nice and leave it alone. I actually found a pen so close to the light brown that I simply went over it until it was nearly gone. So, yeah, it's pretty great for what it is. Multiple alarms, all kinds of nice features that really are wonderful. It is my clock to the side of my door as we all put our shoes on. Very simple to read and see, especially for kids getting on a bus where they need to be reminded of the what where and when of it as they go on their way. And I don't mind the hourly chime during the day. So, yeah, five stars, which I changed from one star. My anger was personal, as I thought I was buying a battery wall clock. But I have to admit, you can't power all that this clock does with batteries.
