Having just rescued a new APBT Mix pup who is a little less than a year old, I wasn't sure what to expect on car rides. His first ride home from the shelter was great! He stayed in his seat no problem. However, now that he is a little more comfortable with me and doesn't like leaving his mama's side, he constantly tries to get in my lap while driving. Being a 45+lb dog, this is very unsafe. So, I began my search for car restraints. The first one I purchased was sadly no good. Perhaps for calmer or smaller dogs, but it did not hold my pup on his side and just tangled him up since it slid onto the seat belt itself and was very short. Then I found this amazing company. This restraint hooks onto the latch bar in the back seat and is plenty long for my dog to lay down or sit up and look out the window. It swivels at the part that hooks onto his harness so he gets tangled up less. He cannot reach the front seat, though he can reach to rest his head or paws on the center console (I am ok with this as he is still restrained in the back, but it is adjustable if you do not want your pup coming up that far). I definitely feel better driving with my pup now that I have this restraint. He also seems calmer on car rides now which is a plus!

Controlled freedom

Works great! I hooked one end to the metal bar in the crease of the back seat, and the other to harnesses on my dogs. I have 2 wonderful, but high energy Weimaraners. Restricting their movements keeps them calm...and all of us safe while driving. They can't jump around the back seat, but still have enough freedom to stick their heads out of the window, or to lay down if they choose.

My 7-month old 65lb puppy was like a bouncing ball in my car, so I knew something had to be done before we crashed. I bought a standard pet seat belt and that worked fine... until he learned how to unbuckle the darn thing and became a bouncing ball again. So, I turned to Amazon for help and came across this one. After reading the reviews, I was sold! It works like a charm!! I hooked it onto the child restraint bar and buckled him in his harness, and off we drove. Best thing I ever bought for him. It's sturdy, easy to use and adjust, and the carabiner is so much better that the typical pet clip (which he also figured out how to unclasp). I feel so much better knowing he can't escape his "straight jacket" and is safer now when we're on the road. It may be more expensive than other pet seat belts, but my the peace of mind is very worth every penny! You won't be disappointed!!

I have used safety belts that click in using the car seat belt and they worked fairly well while my whippet was a small puppy. As he has gotten older and nears one year of age, the more traditional click belt has become too short and I often find my pup's legs wrapped up in it, even though it is too short. I believe that belt tangles because it is too short and angles down. I found the Mighty Paw Belt on Amazon after some searching and though this would be a superior option, my click belt was also chewed by my sister's lovely Standard Poodle. So I was in need of a replacement. I have metal hooks above my rear passenger seats. I use the anchoring hook through these hooks and not the child seat hooks between the cushions. I believe the hooks my car has are for locking additional seat belts in the car or an older form of anchoring a child car seat. I am unsure, but they are sturdy and provide an excellent anchor for the MIghty Paw belt. I have used this belt in this fashion on multiple trips and have had excellent luck with it. The belt does not tangle up in my dogs legs or constrict him from standing, which he insists on doing. I would prefer a crash tested safety harness, but none have been developed that have passed independent test that will fit a whippet. I have decided that I am just going to have to buy additional equipment to make my vehicle more crash friendly for my puppy passenger. This belt will be one of many steps I take. I will be buying another one of these belts for my sister's poodle, so that he can be restrained too, and hopefully not eat anymore belts. I would highly recommend this product. Very nicely built and I am supremely happy with it. *update- I liked this product so much I bought another one for my sister's dog when it rides in my car. Highly recommend.

Perfect For Large Breed Dogs

These are the PERFECT solution to the problem of a large breed dog in a compact car. My rescue dog Rain, a neapolitan mastiff, had issues with our Volkswagen Golf and riding in the backseat when she stood up. She would get scared and nervous, and that would make her carsick. Plus, we wanted to solve the issue of having a 110 dog become a projectile in the event of a crash. These help her sit down right in the center seat in the back and enjoy the ride-and she gets to play backseat driver! I love that the hardware is all-metal, and it's a secure thick nylon strap. The fact that it attaches to the seat anchors is what sold me-I didn't want to have the failure point of the buckles be a possibility. Thanks for helping make Rain's car rides fun!

I did much research before I choose this restraint, I have only used this for a week now and I love it - I have it on the shortest length and my 50lb dog can sit comfortably, turn around and lay down yet not reach my front seat middle console which is what I wanted her to stop getting on. It feels very sturdy, I love that it hooks to the safety bar that child car seats hook too. I use it with the Coastal - Fully Adjustable Easy Rider Nylon Car Harness, I feel much better now that if I were to be in an accident she wouldn't get lost as I have heard happen with many pets, and even in a sudden stop or minor accident they can be tossed in a way and suffer a broken bone. She can sit and look around, or lay down, but stay secure in her spot. I am very pleased so far with my purchase and highly recommend it, by daughter is going to order one for her dog now.

I bought this product for our 25lb cocker spaniel after doing a lot of research and just 2 wks ago it was tested. Our ford focus was Tboned by a truck with us going 54 miles per hr on impact. My car was totaled because of front end demolished and my husband and I were hurt severely but our Joy remained seated belted in her Mighty Paw safety belt and didn't suffer any injury. I'm only buying another because hers was tested already and I want to remain safe. Have told all hospital staff and every dog owner I know about this wonderful safety belt.

Soooo glad and pleased...

I am soooo glad and pleased that I found this kind of seatbelt as the kind I had, where you connect the end in the seatbelt connector, would disconnect at any time when one of my Airedale terrier dogs would step on it. They latch real easy on the latch bar under the seat. I no longer have to wonder or worry about them becoming loose in the back seat. The lengths are great too and very easy to attach to my dogs. Love that the clip is big and swivels. This is a BIG 5 star for me!

Adjustable-Keeps Everyone Safe in the Car

My dog is a 55lb lab/pit mix and this works great to keep her confined in the backseat. I attached it to the latch bars at the top of my seats instead of the ones by the seat belts. This keeps her from getting twisted up. The carabiner is then hooked to the back of her Kong Comfort harness. Now when I step on the brakes, she doesn't fly forward to the floor. It also keeps her from leaning too far out the open window or jumping out of the car when you open the door. It's also adjustable (with metal slide bars) unlike other similar products. I feel like in an accident it would keep her from smashing into people in the front seats, and it also keeps her from distracting the driver. Every pet owner should have something like this to keep their animals safe.

It is as advertised!

The latch clip works great in the back of our SUV. Though my son hates getting drooled on by the puppy, but he prefers that than getting sat on. Lol Carabeaner works well, we've had this for a month or so and use it daily. We have a 90 pound Weimaraner and he's able to sit, stand and lay down.
